Fort Santa Bárbara is currently a Naval Museum, in Florianópolis. I'm used to visiting Museums and this isn't one of the best although it looks like it will be improved. The installations/showcases for the pieces do not have adequate lighting (as shown in the attached photos). Have you consulted a museum? I have my doubts. The Sergeant who guided us deserves good marks - he is not a repeat parrot. (clap) The upper floor is still closed to visitors but was opened, for us, as an exception. There is a living room, with a desk, dining table and upholstery set, china cabinet; and, a buffet (?) in addition to a Gramophone that the Guide wound up and we managed to hear a little of Chopin's Funeral March. Quite interesting. The room represents Admiral Tamandaré's room. On the same floor there is a collection of books (general with an emphasis on Navy history) called "library" completely outside the standards of librarianship, i.e. wooden shelves (damned! As it attracts termites in addition to facilitating fire) zero space between volumes: attracts insects - because it creates the specific climate for their proliferation; makes handling difficult and does not allow air circulation between books. The Museum is only two years old, hopefully it will be improved!

There are a lot of cool things to see, it's a quick and affordable trip. There is no charge to enter, but you need to have a photo ID. The museum is highly explanatory and has many original and interesting pieces!

The fort has now become Santa Catarina's navy museum. Precious museum with great collection. Worth the visit. It is in the central region of Florianópolis.

Interesting museum! With items relevant to marine history. There were items without labels or identification. Requirement to improve. When you arrive, a friendly receptionist, dressed in character, takes your details and welcomes you. Worth knowing!

A little publicized place, but excellent. Culture and knowledge about the history of our country are always very welcome. Special mention to officer Andrade and the sailor who takes care of access to the site, for their politeness, respect and attention to visitors. Important: completely free.

Interesting place for those who like to learn about Brazilian history. Many items in the museum date back to independence and World War II. Note: Some lights are burnt out, making it a little difficult to read and observe the relics. You don't pay anything to find out!

The Florianópolis Navy Museum is small but has good pieces of history, including interesting material from the Imperial period of Brazil. Remembering that during the republican coup against the monarchy, the Navy remained loyal to the Empire and the Brazilian monarchical regime.
