(Translated by Google) Truly a beautiful museum! A real labyrinth of old pieces and exhibitions. Pretty gardens with a breathtaking view over the rooftops of Grenoble. Explanatory sheets are available for the more curious. You don't necessarily expect to find such things when you see the outside. Free museum! Definitely worth a visit.

I thought I would see armour and other stuff from the middle ages, instead I saw an exhibition about egyptomania, the intense interest in all things Egyptian. There are also some nice gardens where you can appreciate some nice views of Grenoble.

Great view of 1600 years of worship and burial on this site, with great archeological details. And it's all free!

This was a very good museum to visit for free. We especially enjoyed the exhibit on the Alpine history. The place also had a nice, cozy terrance to chill and just enjoy thr view.

A nice free museum, with some permanent and temporary exhibitions. The current temporary exhibition (until November 2023), for example, is dedicated to Egypt in the popular culture. A hidden pearl is the garden inside the museum, where you can sit and relax with a view of an unusual art object or overlooking the city of Grenoble.

A nice building with a few terraces with a beatiful view of the city. The permanent exhibition of Alpine life is interesting, and well made. During our visit the temporary exhibitions were not finished, not translated nor coherent. The museum deserves much more than what it is at the moment. Not a must do but a nice visit for an hour.

Pleasantly surprised how interesting this place was. Lots of history to do with the 1968 Winter Olympics and a fantastic view from the rooftop garden area.

Walked up the stairs to this place from the river on a cold, rainy day in Grenoble. We were wet and a bit cold and really welcomed this locally focused museum. It seemed to keep going and going with different rooms and floors. Lots of displays about history of the area, some WWII stuff, etc... . Definitely worth a leisurely stroll. Good bathrooms. Vending machine.

A small museum, but surely worth a visit. The exhibition about the glove industry is just wonderful.

Great place to visit. Many of the description plaques are in both French and English so it is easy to understand what is going on if you know either language.

The view from the park down towards Grenoble,,, its spectacular. The museum is decent too, definitely. But I recommend coming for the inner park, there are some benches to rest there too. I caught the sunset there and it was breathtaking

Excellent small museum for local history currently displaying the story of glovemaking. En route to the Bastille (no not THAT one) which is maybe an hour's climb to the yop for stunning views of the town and mountains. Building was a von ent and includes a beautiful Baroque chapel.

  • 4/5 Gourav S. 5 years ago on Google
A free to enter museum on the base of the hill with Bastille at the top. A short climb from the riverside brings you to the museum. It has many sections inside with the winter Olympics section being the major one. The displays take you through the winter Olympic event hosted by Grenoble with the help of artifacts and short movies. There was also a Japanese art exhibition in the other section. There is a nice courtyard in the centre of the building.

What an interesting and diverse place! We had a wonderful time seeing the exhibitions and enjoying the garden. Just mind the weekday and time of your visit - it can get somewhat crowded.

Very nice museum, loved the Olympics expo, and the ski collection is not too miss. There is also a very nice concert hall, especially for early music, in the chapel

  • 5/5 Valeri G. 6 years ago on Google
Very interesting exhibits. Worth making it all the way to the top floor for the exhibit on the life of the mountain people. The music exhibit was one of the most interactive and well curated ones I have ever attended.

(Translated by Google) The visit is interesting, located in an old convent, there are fixed and temporary exhibitions, but all about life in the Alps. Too bad the church was closed. The tour is free, a bit busy, we had to go back to see the temporary exhibition. And spectacular views of Grenoble from the terrace.

This was free which was a great surprise and a detailed history of the dauphinois region. We did get lost and ended up in the offices while trying to find the outside, but plenty to see and try, it kept a six and eight year old entertained for over an hour, that is good for a museum.

(Translated by Google) Really good. Lots of things to see (visited on September 13, 2020), cool exhibitions: immersion in the wooden chalet, soundtracks ... The atmospheres are well transcribed: we have the impression of living the subjects discussed even if is not customary, it is very well done and thought out. In addition, very beautiful terraces and well-kept gardens, the whole is very beautiful! (Original) Vraiment bien.
