    The new single check out lane “cattle chute” system is atrocious. Change it back. It’s just formulated to get kids to ask for more stuff as they go down the checkout aisle. It also slows down the checkout process, and frustrates customers and employees. As an experiment, it has failed and corporate needs to change it back unless they’re trying to copy Dicks’ useless checkout model. Be smarter, do better. UPDATE: this situation has been remedied and they went back to the more efficient checkout desk structure. Nicely done, Academy, and thank you! Bumped up to the full five stars.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    It appears that they are downsizing the guns and shooting related items,the selection of of firearms was pretty sparse . Also don't like the way they have turned the checkout area into a maze like Ross and Dollar General. I had a balance of $26.00 on my Academy card, paid the entire amount and the next month I received a bill for $1.00 interest so I mailed them their $1.00 and cancelled my card. After seeing what the gun department looked like yesterday I probably won't ever shop there again !

    I called before coming in and I spoke with Asante in footwear. I told her upfront my issues I’m having and what I needed. This young woman went above & beyond to help me over the phone. She was checking discounted prices, the extra money off with the sales applied, told me about items that would potentially help me and was just all around very welcoming and light. The past few years have been very stressful for people working with the general public but this woman wasn’t letting anything stop her from being upbeat and energetic. 10/10 customer service. Y’all gotta give his young lady a raise, she’s a gem! Also on my way out I happened to find another pair of shoes and had stopped a woman who was going on break to ask if they were included in the sale, they were not. She very politely guided to me to the racetrack (walk way) where there were carts with almost the exact same shoes on them but were included in the sale. She could’ve just passed me and said she was on break like I’ve seen alot of other people do at various establishments but she didn’t turn me away because I needed help. People like this are hard to come by and very much appreciated. The cashier was named Michelle, great energy and she was very easy to talk to. When I seen my total for all the discounts I was actually shocked my total was that cheap! She told me about her own shopping experience at Academy as well. It’s so rare to find great employees like I’ve listed above. Hang onto these women & please make sure they get the recognition they deserve.

    Third time visiting and I didn’t realize how outdated and unorganized this place is. A lot of price tags were missing, random items laying on floors, scanner for prices don’t work, item shelves are low stocked. Looked like a old thrift store going out of business.

    As a continuous customer I was very disappointed by the service provided today. I paid for a kayak online and did curbside pickup. What should have been a 15 min, load it and go, turned in to 1 1/2 ordeal. We ended up going in the store which was a complete disaster, by the way! Accessories were missing from the kayak and there was no one available that knew anything about them. The associate that was helping was doing her best but there should be people available for every department that knows what's going on. We finally got our parts but the entire situation could have been avoided. AND ITS NOW THE NEXT DAY AND WE STILL DONT HAVE ALL THE PARTS TO THE PADDLE SYSTEM. WE DIDNT KNOW THAT YESTERDAY BECAUSE THE BOX WAS OPENED AND WE DIDNT KNOW WHAT ALL WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN IT. Just wonderful.

    Academy was a pleasure to shop at. Buying a pistol was a much easier process I had ever imagined. Quick and easy and staff were very knowledgeable on products, warranties, and safety.

    Well the two employees that helped me were very helpful and has there hands full. Long story short they need some work on there online order and pick up systems. It's a mess ended up only getting half of what I paid for money was refunded quickly

    We were in this store 9/9/23 to make a purchase in sporting goods and they had the item I was looking for, to make the story as short as possible they only had one of this item and had it on display and had a few of the items that comes with it but somehow lost the most important part of this item, they were trying to replace it with one that would not have worked and my wife and I caught them doing this ! Not only was this an issue the two so called sporting goods professionals had no idea about anything on my item or anything that had to do with it and they flat out lied about questions that we asked we are so very disappointed in this store. We ended up not buying this item and drove to Academy in Rogers to purchase it, I called the manager and discussed the issue with him but he was like any other one they really don't address the issue they only listen. We will drive north for now on they know what is going on and more professional than Fort Smith.

    Ordered on line a deer feeder, and it was ready to pick up before I got there to pick. It only took 2 minutes to get my order once I checked in. The only thing I would have to say I had issue was finding a sales associate to assist me on the floor. But otherwise, I love this store .

    I went to Academy to find shoes. I found a pair, but the type I was looking for did not have a big selection. That is my only bad review. Other than that I do love the shoes I I got. They are comfortable so far. I haven't had them long enough to know if they are better for my feet. I will add more later and a photo soon. I do recommend Academy for a lot of sporting goods including footwear. I'm just very picky.

    Wow... this store has gone down. Clothes and items on the floor all over the store. Open packages hidden in racks and the dressing room area is horrible. Outside the dressing room entry, inside the entry. And every room has a Mount Everest of clothing. I know it is hard to get employees that want to work but this is ridiculous. You may lose money but shut the store down, get it organized, inventory, figure your loses, and reopen staying on top of it. Your going to lose money already by people not wanting to shop in that chaotic mess. My opinion only. I left without purchasing. 🤷‍♀️

    Store is a mess, lines are long. We were helped by Carol, this isn't the first time she's helped us. She always has a smile on her face. Willing to help and figure out a solution if you don't have exactly what we need. She always acts like she wants to be there. Shes very pleasant to talk to. Seems to really enjoy her job. With that being said. While she was helping us. Another associate named Carmen was to busy talking about her weekend plans involving her boyfriend. Highly inappropriate in a business. She didn't spare any details, and was on her phone the entire time. I had my grandkids with me. This isn't something I wanted them to hear while shopping and trying on clothes.

    Love this place. Fort Smith, Rogers, Dallas,, wherever! All are great! Has exactly what I need probably 95% of the time. Prices are always appropriate.

    No buggies at 10:15am I'm disabled walk back to shoe dept couldn't find anyone had to walk back up front get someone to help. People lined up several deep waiting to check out one register only open. I will not be back

    Wall to wall "stuff" you'd expect at such a place. Waited over 20 minutes to ask a question about a gun because they only had one person working the entire firearms section at a big box sporting goods store. They had a "take a number" machine with a full roll but while waiting I heard the employee mention off-hand that they hadn't used it in 3 years. About half the items on the shelf had their prices either removed, torn off or they never existed there in the first place. First time I had ever been to Academy as I grew up around Bass Pro. Hope the others stores aren't so confusing and both hectic yet time-wasting at the same time.

    Went in to buy my son some shoes for football. The shoe area was a freaking mad house. No employee in the area. A lot of the shoes were just thrown on the shelf. Some shoes had no pricing. It almost looked like a scene from a zombie movie. Would not recommend buying from here.

    I have to say, shop online. This is the 3rd in 2 weeks that I have come by and asked a question. The 1 of the 3 employees that were actually working said that they didn’t know check the app. Go shop someplace that helps our community by hiring local employees. Using the app is a customer service fail.

    Cashier by the name of Kim was extremely rude. The customer service was horrible. I’ve been going to this Academy going on 5 years now and have never had a problem until today. I will be taking my business to Gellco.

    My experience was fantastic, although I should have opted for printed and emailed copies of the receipt…… the 2 gentleman that assisted with returning the damaged smoker I bought were fantastic, the woman at the door , equally fantastic and helpful, the woman that helped at the register was joyful and so beautifully pleasant. The attitude and energy among the employees I interacted with was just awesome. Hopefully I won’t need the receipt or if I do, they’re in the system.

    I went to this store Saturday with my son to purchase the required tackle we needed for a trout fishing trip this weekend. I bought $63.44 worth of tackle and paid for it. When I got home 30 miles away in Charleston my credit card sent me an alert that I had been double charged. I call immediately and have no answer over and over but finally someone answered and I told them my situation and they put me on hold for almost 20 minutes. Then I spoke a boy named Branden or Brendan and said nothing I can do except turn in to my treasury dept which is not open til Monday and took some numbers from my receipt. He tod me that Monday they review and decide what to do. So now its Monday and same thing I called over and over no answer. Finally an answer and I tell again the whole story get put on hold for 16 minutes. Mike tells me he will call treasury and call me back. I wait six hour and call again same thing ring ring ring on hold and Mike. Told me same thing. So I call my credit card company and tell them what happened and they are taking care of this and ihang up and magically Mike calls but with the same old story. This is my experience which they lost a customer. I hope you will not be done the same way.

    Hunting and shooting supplies are incredibly under stocked. The shelves in the gun cleaning section was so empty it should of been embarrassing for this store. Seriously missing the most common items for the most popular calibers (cleaning brushes, boresnakes for .243, .270, 6.5, 7mm, 30 cal all missing and many, many more). Just holes all over their shelves. As far as their ammunition section. The shelves had a few calibers available but not many of your popular calibers. With what was in stock. You had minimal options available. The knife aisle had more empty pegs than knives available. Someone tell Academy Sports that deer season starts next month!! We are buying now. We just can't buy here.

👍 What can you say? It's Walmart. If they don't have it, you don't need it. My only complaint is some of the employees seem less than enthused to be working there, but there is usually somebody around to help during peak hours - not so much late at night.
