My husband and I visited Sotto for the first time last night. We had heard how good it was from many of our friends, so we finally made reservations to check it out ourselves. Our server was Cameron and he was fantastic! He explained the menu to us in detail and he gave us really great recommendations on dishes and serving sizes. He made our experience at Sotto even better. The food was AMAZING!! It was one of the best meals we have ever had. We are already talking about going back!

Unique restaurant in a basement! The entire restaurant is underground which gives it a dark, intimate feel. The stairs and all tables are lit by candles so it is an actual candle light dinner! The service here is excellent and they are happy to answer any questions or offer recommendations. Portions are small, so plan on ordering multiple items if you are looking for a "full" meal. Leave room for the ricotta donuts as dessert! It is hard to get reservations here since it is so popular. Plan on making your reservation at least 2 months in advance to get your desired date and time.

I mean this place is probably the best place in Cincinnati. Their pasta game is on a different level. The app was so good, I had to try and remake it at home 🥹 it’s definitely a good date spot but also why not just enjoy it yourself since reservation is as hard as it can get with restaurant!

To our disappointment, food quality was not consistent. Some appetizers were nice surprises. But most entrees were way too salty such a waste for those well cooked meat. A good balance of saltiness is a key measure to a chef’s ability to deliver taste. Service was also mediocre. Our server didn’t provide any suggestion or knowledge on any dish or wine. He even spilled a coffee without apology and didn’t offer to give us a new one since his fingers were already dipped in the coffee. On the bright side, most people are really friendly. It’s an interesting underground experience, especially if you enjoy intimate and darker atmosphere. Overall, ok food and service, good price, but not worth the hype and long waited reservation.

Yesterday, we were supposed to celebrate Father’s Day at Sotto with my husband, daughter, and my parents. Unfortunately, my parents & husband were not able to come. But fortunately, my in-laws were. We had a beautiful and wonderful dinner! My daughter got to join her grandparents and her mama, for a beautiful experience, amazing food, and even better memories. We will visit again soon, hopefully. Meanwhile, my third visit here was as expected….amazing! And again, it was a first for them. ALL three of them loved the ambiance, the service, and of course…the FOOD. Friends, celebrate the moments & make the memories…and, of course, go to SOTTO. You deserve it. ❤️

We have been to wanting to try for months. Finally got in and it was worth every minute of waiting. Top notch service and exceptional food. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and helped us decide among a couple of different dishes we were considering. From the octopus and chicken liver mousse appetizers to our entrees to their famous ricotta doughnuts, it was all sooo good. If haven't been, run don't walk as soon as you can, you will not be disappointed. Highly highly recommend.

A superb dining experience. The restaurant is located underground giving it a very unique feel. The staff was very friendly and very informative. As for the food, everything we tried was delicious! If you visit downtown Cincinatti it would be wise to get a reservation here.

First timer a few weeks ago and Sotto was OUTSTANDING! So many yummy dishes that we shared at the table, but those ricotta donuts were incredible. Already made another reservation! This is the Ruby’s of Italian food! 10/10!

The T bone is exceptional, better than a lot of the steak house. Fish is also good, fresh and tender. Last time we had it, the fish was laying on a bed of beans (same as the octopus salad) this time it was over the side veggie dish. The mozzarella appetizer is nothing special, it’s just a mozzarella ball but it’s $38. Service is good, change plates every course throughout the dinner. We have a family of 8 (2 toddler did not eat much) and two 10yr girls, they love the steak . Short rib ravioli is good as always.

Went to celebrate a life event. Grateful for the valet which is $12. My reservation started right on time. The service was fantastic. The atmosphere is very romantic, dinner my candlelight. I chose everything that my server suggested which was a good choice, the food was amazing. Heads up, the portions are on the small side, so you might want to order a salad or appetizer. Next time I’ll get the porterhouse steak. Great food, great service, great atmosphere!

This is one of the best restaurants I have visited. The atmosphere, service, food and attention to detail is impeccable. We tried so many food options in one meal. From cocktails to desert the experience was phenomenal. Wine menu is is all Italian wines which is unique.

Amazing as always! There is a reason reservations must be booked well in advance, this place is truly worth the hype. It's hands down my favorite restaurant in Cincinnati. All of the food is amazing and the atmosphere is very romantic.

Very good! Clean. Lovely staff- those girls worked hard to give attention to each patron. And constantly check on you. Despite the crowded bar, they continued to smile and worked hard. They recommended great dishes. I had the short rib butter pasta, garlic bread and a plate of the ricotta donuts. Best restaurant I’ve visited so far in down Cincinnati.

Took a long time to get reservations but it was definitely worth the wait. Discreet basement location you could easily miss just walking by, almost had the feel of a speakeasy. Nice atmosphere. Great wine and bourbon list Server was very nice and helped us make selections. My girlfriend was happy that they had a separate vegetarian menu available. Had the hazelnut honey bread as an appetizer, delicious! We shared a salad that had a citrus dressing and walnuts which was very good. I had the penne with sausage in a butter sauce that was amazing. Overall great experience and we definitely want to try it again with different dishes

As soon as we stepped in the door the experience engulfed us. The location and atmosphere is outstanding. Our server, Corrine, was amazing and explained the entirety of the menu to us in detail. The food, all of it from appetizer to dessert was top notch.

Food is always great. The octopus was great. Polenta, truffle pasta, goat cheese and bread, pork tenderloin, and ravioli with squash were what we all had to share. All were great but I'd have to say the pork was the best. The atmosphere is romantic and great to take a date. For drinks the sweet potato root was very unique. After dinner, the lemoncello hit the spot.

Overrated and overhyped. Very small entree portions....the steak option is $125 and they had a pasta special for $95! Ordered the linguine and clams...smallest clams I have ever seen and there were a whole 7 of them on my dish. To be fair World Class Ricotta donuts, awesome.

10/10 overall! The place, the style, the service & the food! Excellent! We ordered a decent amount of food to share and every single thing was so good!

Sotto, tucked into a brick walled basement lair, has the best Cacio e Pepe in the country. That’s a fact, no doubt. I’ve tried many, as my belly proves. Sotto is a wonderful restaurant, with a great bar. Service is efficient, if not particularly warm. This was a return visit to Cincinnati after eight years. Sotto was a must visit.
