Pretty good Irish spot! The scotch eggs were great, and the beer selection was solid. My main course, the fish, was only average however.

Decided to try the pub scene tonight and wasn't disappointed in the slightest. Great, friendly service without being interrupting. The bread board was nice with a nice loaf and bit of corn bread with cream cheese and herbs, butter, olive oil, and orange marmalade. The pot roast, veggies and mashed potatoes were awesome!!! I didn't think I had it in me to push through for dessert, but I had to persevere for the sake of giving a full meal review, so I had the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Unfortunately, I ate the whole thing, which completely blew the calorie count on my diet for the day... And it was so worth it. Check out Nicholson's for a nice casual pub dining experience if you are in the area.

Fantastic passion in every bite. The bartenders are very knowledgeable in all the behind bar items. And service was outstanding. Food was amazing.. bangers and mash were perfect! Not greasy at all. Great mash to assist the flavor. The bread board was just splendid. Homemade breads, jam, goat cheese spread. All outstanding. Potroast was perfectly seasoned, pull apart with a fork. Slight signs of grilling before baking.. just they way it should be done. Carrots with a touch of brown sugar are just a bite of sweet to accompany the savory. Perfect meal.

Wife and I walked in at around 9:15 pm on a Tuesday and asked if the kitchen was still open and without hesitation they answered yes. I had the fish and chips and the wife had the Nicholson’s Signature. The food was great! We sampled a few of the drinks, one that stood out was the Perfect Patron. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a nice sit down restaurant with a bar top feel.

Coolest place ever!!! Definitely makes you feel like your in Scotland/Ireland. The guys wear kilts, the service was fantastic and the food and drink were delish! Highly recommend the Raspberry Mule for a starter drink, the pretzel w/ beer cheese and the Crab cakes for appetizers and the Haddock was nice and crisp!!! They also have an incredible selection of Scotch and Bourbon. A must eat when your in Cincinnati!

We had an awesome experience here. The atmosphere here is great and like we have been in the UK. The dishes and service were phenomenal! We ordered the bread and Scotch Egg appetizers. Their homemade bread is some of the best we’ve ever had. Five Fish and Chips and the Scottish Salmon were the chosen entrees. Hot and delicious. Only good comments were expressed around the table. We will be back!

This place was phenomenal! The food was out of this world and the atmosphere was really nice, as well as the décor and look of the interior. My only complaint is that the waitresses were all wearing fishnets and short plaid skirts... I get it, but in my opinion, it really clashed with the look and feel of the restaurant. I started with a cocktail called the Eye of the Storm; now, I'm a Dark and Stormy girl, but this was way better! Everything in it tasted really fresh and I couldn't stop talking about it to my boyfriend :) The Beer Cheese that came with our Pretzel Bites was SO good! I will say that I thought that I was ordering big pretzels, so I was a little shocked when they came out as bites. But they were still good! Our burgers were some of the best we've ever had. They were cooked perfectly (we both ordered medium) and the flavor profiles were perfect. No complaints! Also, it looks like they make their own ketchup... which was also delicious! The Sticky Toffee Pudding was a perfect end to our meals. It was sweet, soft, gooey and warm with a nice scoop of vanilla ice-cream on top with caramel drizzle. Can you ask for anything better than that? If you're looking for a good restaurant in the Cincinnati, OH area, give this one a go.

Nicholson's had very friendly staff and seated us right on our reservation time. The crab cakes appetizer was tasty. Our dinners shrimp and grits, and pot roast were wonderful! The shrimp and grits were cooked and seasoned just right and the pot roast was so moist and lean that no knife is required. Our food came out quickly too! Very enjoyable dinner at a reasonable price.

This place was, in my opinion, a true pub worthy of a casual night out. The decor was warm and welcoming and the food was superb, especially the melt-in-your-mouth fried pork shoulder. The service was also excellent, and my fiancé and I felt perfectly at ease here. I would definitely stop by again if I was in the area!

I have visited Cincinnati two weeks in a row and this is the only place I've eaten that justified a return trip. Their bar, menu, and service are amazing. CJ was rocking a kilt and offered advice on apps, drinks, and food. The next time I am in this city I will be back. Try the Pot Roast!!!!

Very nice spot. Huge bar, large dining facility. Lots of beautiful wood work throughout the bar and entire facility. Two huge king type chairs near the restrooms add a nice touch. Chalkboard signs throughout advertising drinks and specials. I ordered the fish sliders which are two small breaded fish sandwiches with coleslaw on them. It comes with fries. It also comes with a house catchup. The sandwiches were hot, meaty and fresh. Nothing over the top or really different but very good.

It's rare to find a place in downtown Cincinnati that gives you anything for your birthday. Well Nicholson's does. The cheesecake, that does not take a back seat to anyone else's is on the house. Was pleasantly surprised by the Scottish BBQ burger and duck fat fries with homemade ketchup. I don't even like store brand ketchup but enjoyed this. The wedge salad gave me my greens to power through the evening. Side note, with it being so close to the center of the city, you might get a free concert ticket if someone has an extra.

The food here is to die for at such reasonable prices. I was highly impressed with the quality of ingredients and the homemade catsup. Everything was very clean (the bathroom even smelled nice) and our waiter was attentive. I will definitely go back.

What a cool place. The decor and attention to detail really makes this a neat place to eat out. Duck fat fries are out of this world. Fish was nice and crispy, lots of flavor. Would come back here in a heartbeat. Want to try more off their menu!

Our server had far too many tables Didn't have time to explain much. Fish was ok at best but appetizers were terrible.

I ordered a medium rare Ribeye. When asked how it was, I told the server it was thicker and less pink than I expected. She immediately took it away without another word. A few minutes later she returned with a male employee. He did not say anything to me, just stared. She asked whether I thought the steak was 'too cooked or not cooked enough'. I replied "too cooked". She turned away again without speaking. A few minutes later she returned saying, "They're re-making that for you." When the re-made dish was brought she said, "Cut into that for me." I did so, and she asked, how is it. I said I'd have to taste it. She said "Do that, then." So I did. The steak was just as thick, and just as lacking in marble. It really wasn't what I expected from a Ribeye at all, but I didn't really think I'd get anything but another re-cooked steak. So, I did my best and ate about half of it. The bill reflected the full price of the meal and no manager or other server returned to check on me. The bill was brought before I finished even half of the meal and I was not offered another glass of wine when my glass was empty. At this point I'm actually kind of worried the food had been spat in/on. Also, the fried potatoes accompanying my first steak were brown and crispy; the second set was more golden. Both were good, but that's quite a lack of consistency. The asparagus was also good.

I've been to Nicholson's a dozen or so times over the past few years and time and time again, the food is just *okay*. A lot of the food isn't Scottish, just American food (BBQ, pot roast, fried chicken, burgers, etc), but typically the experience before a show or anything is fairly quick and painless. Tonight's experience was the most subpar out of all visits, as the food (fish & chips) was as good as I could get at Aldi's + our waitress distant and sporadic. Three different times, she asked us what we'd like (drinks, food, dessert) and each time she'd ask, she'd take half our table's (5 people) order, then walk away to a different table where we'd flag her down for another drink order, or for the other two food orders. For dessert, she took one out of 5 orders, then forgot one, then messed up another. The check was produced the quickest of all services. It was quite disappointing and I'd give it a good miss considering the other restaurants in the area, though tonight my in-laws wanted to try something new for my MIL's birthday and chose Nicholson's...which we all left agreeing we wouldn't try anytime soon unless the menu and service improved.

Limited menu due to the Rona, and they were out of the Salmon :( but everything was really good-try the fried brussel sprouts or the Belhaven beer cheese app, both great! Service was great, atmosphere was spot on. We'd like to come back in the summer and sit on the patio.

I happened upon Nicholson's Tavern & Pub when walking back to my hotel the other day. This is a Scottish pub in Cincinnati, Ohio that is Scottish through and through. The bar was built in Scotland and shipped over to Cincinnati to be the center of all things Scottish inside of Nicholson's Tavern & Pub. The staff are all wearing kilts which is awesome. The food was perfect and the flavors we're authentic with my bangers and mash especially the gravy. I can't wait to come back to Cincinnati to go to Nicholson's Tavern & Pub!

shouldn’t even give this one star. i have NEVER witnessed such horrible service before. not sure what all these other reviews are saying but it would’ve been nice to enjoy my time eating and drinking without the rude employees constantly attacking my table for keeping a mask down to DRINK. a restaurant usually allows you to drink and eat with pleasure. immediately realized how disgusting service was as i got there. try a nice beer somewhere down the street DON’T spend your time here.

Wonderful experience. Jennifer was so helpful and friendful. Right now most of the bars are shutdown but it was great to stop in before reservations at Jeff Ruby's. You can partake in a limited menu and Horse and Barrel bourbon/whiskey selections too. Limited seating due to low volume usually. This weekend (should have been Octoberfest) it was great to see the staff manage the increase in volume well. We will be back. We loved the scotch selection.

Beautiful Irish pub with a large bar in the center. Authentic decor and the servers wear kilts which adds to the experience. We got the Belhaven Beer Cheese with soft pretzels and chips and it was really good. I had the Caledonian Grilled chicken with mac and cheese and my husband ordered the fish and chips. We were both very happy with our meals. They offer a happy hour with several draft beers for $3.50. We would definitely come back.

I've been coming here since shortly after they opened in the late 90's. I love this place. It's a great atmosphere with a stocked bar and lots of draft choices. You can't miss with any selection on the menu. Of course, fish & chips is a favorite for pub fare.

Good food, cool building. Servers and workers were super friendly and helpful. Some of the other patrons acted a little stuffy but it wouldn't stop me from going back. I was a bit worried about waiting for the "hostess" by the door for about 10 mins. The place was very busy, come to find out the "hostess" was bussing tables, getting drinks, delivering food and helping people with their checks. I'm pretty sure she's in charge and I wish I'd gotten her name. She was extremely nice when she said since we didn't have reservations could we sit at the bar. Well that was the best decision! We met Craig, he was so busy, but took the time to talk to us and make sure we had menus. He answered all of our questions. Besides having a great drink and amazing food. Everyone was nice, helpful. Also I got well versed in seeing exactly how you pour Guinness! Great time can't wait to come back!

Make sure you make a reservation before. This place seemed always busy. The hostess was friendly, and nice. We were seated in the back of the restaurant, in smaller room. The service was quick. Our server was prompt and very nice. However, she forgot our drinks order, which she gave us for free at the end. Our food was decent - but don't order the BBQ shrimp appetizer menu. It didn't taste good at all, and was pricey. We went there for my daughter's 14th birthday. Nothing was special-no free cake, no one singing happy birthday. I would say we won't go back here for 2nd. There are other places in downtown area that have better food and atmosphere.

First time visit! Lunch date with family. Amazing atmosphere, decor and super friendly staff. Menu was filled with choices for all tastes. Our waitress Abby was on top of everything and made sure everyone was taken care of every second. Communication with the coordinator was impeccable and they catered to our every need. We would definitely go back here for another company party and other personal events even. Highly recommend. Can't beat the price for everything you get.

This is such a great place. We loved the atmosphere and 80s music. We enjoyed the fish and chips. It's the best we've had in a long time. The best surprise was the Belhaven Scottish beer. Made with nitrogen and C02. It was the best dark beer I've had. Smooth and creamy and not bitter.

Great ambience of a restaurant. Despite our server still being in training, she did a tremendous job talking about the food and drinks she like and why. Staff was friendly and the food was very good. Pork loin was solid, the berries on top made the dish. The fish and chips allowed the fish to be present in the meal like it should.

The bartender is super kind…nice young lady. Not her fault the the fries the advertise as being great… are from a frozen bag!! Don’t bother. It is not her fault the the salmon sandwich came out COLD! It is however a stupid mixed drink. Advertised as a grapefruit and basil. What is the point when the wilted basil is laid over the side of the glass. See pic. So they took the food back and the bun came back as cold as before. The salmon was at least warm. Had to ask for a silverware and napkin set. That sucks. Asked for a napkin and she gave be bar paper napkins. 😂. No manager ever came by. Came to collect payment but didn’t take the dirty plate away. 😂. I understand it is a learning process. But will not know unless I say something. There are many many great places for food. This is average at the best.

What a fun place!! Menu prices vary, they have a great selection of pub inspired foods that come out beautifully plated. Very visually pleasing! Oh and everything tasted AWESOME. We started with a starter, Scotch Egg. Highly recommend it, boiled medium egg, fried or baked with a sausage outer layer and served with some great mustard and mixed greens. The pot roast is absolutely worth it, my Mac n cheese was on the cold side but still tasted good. I splurged and ordered a Pimm's Cup ($12, normally I do not drink out) and let me tell you it was the perfect drink for a summery day! For two diners, a starter, two meals, two adult beverages and a soda our total was in the mid $80s. It was absolutely worth it! If your going to a show at the theater across the street this place is the perfect start. I do recommend getting reservations!!!

I hosted my sister’s bridal shower here and it truly turned out better than I could have expected! At first we had a slight hiccup in communication with working with their hospitality department, but the GM and assistant GM more than made up for it. I worked with Natalie after that and she went above and beyond. She was there for every question and concern I had. She was there on the day of my event and was so hands on and helpful, as well as the rest of the staff! From helping me with communication on road closures and traffic with Pride falling at the same time and day as my event, to setting up and breaking down, she was there. The Garden Room came with the patio and it was the perfect place to bring together my vision of a summer garden party. We also still had the inside room to keep the food and utilize before we went outside for the brunch. Amazing time and super grateful to Natalie and her team!

We were here for the Taylor Swift concert and had delicious food and drinks (special limited time off drinks for the Taylor concerts shown in the pictures) before the show! The Scotch egg and the crab cakes tasted amazing and the thousand island, cheese, and corned beef all paired perfectly on the Reuben. Great ambiance and can’t wait to be back again to try other items on the menu that sounded delicious!
