Quite a unique music venue with high ceilings and great acoustics. Definitely a fun ambience. They had tables and chairs for the event that we went to. The servers came around to get your drink order and you can run a tab which made The ordering of drinks very convenient. They have a nice smoking area outside where you can come in and out during the event. This is the decorations are very unique in that they have left most of the building decorated the way it would have been when it was a place of worship.

We got there early for a concert on March 10, and the bartender was very friendly! He recommended places we could have dinner at (Dixie Chili was awesome) and then he was telling us about different foods from the area. Which we did have to try some before we left town. Wonderful experience and a beautiful place for the concert!!

My husband and I often attend concerts all over the tri-state area. We live in Ohio. We frequent WV, KY Indy, and MI frequently as well. We enjoy a wide variety of genres and styles. A show can be an experience like no other. We are constantly chasing that sound, that feeling that resonates in your body. Tuesday was our first time at Southgate House Revival House. I had researched Southgate beforehand quite a bit. We've tried to visit several times before but our schedules never worked out. We've been lucky enough to hear some of the artists that frequent Southgate in our own homes and at incredible venues around the state. I now want to hear every person I've ever seen, in concert, at Southgate House! The acoustics, and the space = perfection. Lighting = lovely ambiance. Beautiful, full, filling sound. Daniel Mason, singer, told us beforehand, "Just wait, it sounds incredible in there. This is the best I've ever heard Rachel." Daniel has toured the world extensively over the years with various artists. I knew I was in for a treat! However, Southgate superseded my expectations. Amazingly easy parking on site! Great outdoor area in the heart of everything that's Newport. Gorgeous architecture. Inside and out. So many unique details to study, if you have the chance. There are quite a few steps up to the upstairs stage. It's worth it once at the top. The mural above is a beautiful sight. It almost seems hidden in plain view. Such a cool space. Comfortable. I really enjoyed how the tables were set up to seat 2 or 4. The staff was amazingly friendly. I appreciated every pleasant encounter. The bathroom! Wow. I knew to expect some coolness in the bathroom. I always enjoy peeping at the stickers and art at venues. Southgate's upstairs and downstairs bathrooms were awesome. In addition, they smelt wonderful and were incredibly clean. I am so impressed by this. As well as everything beginning and ending promptly. That cannot always be timed out. That is teamwork and communication at its best. We were off work at 5 on Tuesday. At the venue by 7:30 and out by 10:15. It is possible to have fun on a random weekday. As parents with full-time jobs, we appreciate these midweek adventures. You can tell everyone takes great pride in their work and wants you to have the best experience. We already have plans to be back this fall. Thank you for an incredible Tuesday evening show.

First time at this venue. Nice setup. Downstairs there was a bar. A small stage was there. I'm told they have open mic night a couple times a week. Several guitar players, and other musicians were gearing up to play. I'm an open mic fan so I'll come back to jam sometime. My gal and I came here to see Luther Van and the Floods, and the headliner Popa Chubby. I ordered tickets on line. It was $5 per ticket cheaper. I had the choice of having the tickets sent to me, or hold at the Will Call. I chose Will Call. I checked out several acts on the Web site. There's no set ticket price and it varies depending on the performer. We paid $20 each ticket, but I saw prices as low as $12 and high as $25. The website said tickets held at the Will Call could be picked up starting at 5pm. The show was to start at 7:30. We were not able to get Will Call tickets until 7pm. Not a big deal, but don't be surprised if the same happens to you. At 7pm we hopped in line, had a color wrist band. We went upstairs into an old church sanctuary. The natural reverb sounded great. As a sound man, it would be a challenge. But the sound guy did fantastic. The lights and acoustics were a bonus. The stained glass windows added to the ambience. We sat at a small table. In the rear of the room was a bar, complete with a pipe organ. The opening act was Luther Van and the Floods. I really liked them. Good energy by the band, and a music style that a Tarantino film would love. Popa Chubby was the best guitar act I've witnessed. He played so much emotion and talented thru his guitar... Words can't describe. Will definitely return.

Great venue with multiple bar areas, music stages, and, a large outside area. Definitely recommend seeing a show or two at Southgate House! I have always enjoyed Southgate - both this location and the old Southgate - cannot wait to return for another show! 10/10!

Pretty cool laid back venue with good music and local bands. It used to be a church so it has a cool aesthetic and the sound quality was pretty good. Has a bar to grab some drinks while you listen to music. There are some parking lots nearby and street parking, downside is that street parking has two hour limit, so I recommend finding nearby lot of going to stay there longer.

Interesting place. Can hold 3 sources of entertainment in an old church. There is limited seating inside, which is annoying. The place could be so much more enjoyable with better seating and tables. Would be nice to have better items to snack on as well.

It’s a nice venue- my dad and I went to see Tommy Prine on 11/9/23. The only reason for my lower rating is because the average age of attendees was probably 60 and there were only ~10 chairs available. I understand that most concerts and standing only but they should have realized the audience and planned accordingly or at least brought out additional seating. There were a lot of people complaining and leaving early because they couldn’t sit. My dad has been in pain for the past 3 days and said he would not go to another show there.

Decent venue. Music sounded good in the main hall and the staff were friendly. The pours at the bar were very light. The stage where the bathrooms are had its volume so loud it definitely would cause hearing damage.

I hate writing this review as I like this place but the music is too loud! We listened to the band in the main hall. It was so loud the music was completely distorted and unrecognizable. You couldn't hear the vocals and everything was mumbled together. The instrument solo was ruined as it was so unclear it didn't' make a difference. I noticed a lot of attendees have ear plugs and it all just doesn't make sense to me. Why be so loud it sounds terrible everyone needs earplugs? Otherwise the bar was great, the location is great, the venue is awesome, love this place but maybe turn it down it little?

Great venue for music. The main stage in the church has great acoustics and ambiance. All the stained glass surrounding you with great music playing is a lot of fun. Check it out!

Beautiful place to hear music. So thankful they are keeping this beautiful piece of history alive. The stained glass is gorgeous.

Hell yes. Good folks and cool rooms. Plenty of space to have a good time both inside and outside. Lots of art and music all over the place with just the kind of clientele that makes me glad to be out and about... We had a great time both on stage and in the crowd. Unpretentious.

I've seen lots of bands play in this place over the years some sound really good some not so much. The venue itself is very cool with 3 different sized rooms of music on most nights. It's an old church with giant stained glass windows. The bartenders and staff are friendly, drinks are stiff, you won't get cheated out of a good drink for sure and they host all genres of music from country, punk to extreme metal. One of the areas best venues it's eclectic and different than most bars with live music.

Great venue with helpful staff. The stain glass in the main room is beautiful! The room is a bit boomy but it's made up for by great vibes! I'm sure this would be a fun place to shoot if you're into concert photography.

Went to a celebration of life and was a good cause. The venue was very poor. Wasn't able to sit or have a table. They only allowed standing room. People that had chairs and a few tables, some guy came around yelling at everyone that had a chair and even the tables.." no tables or chair and took them all away. I really felt bad for the older folks that, u can tell we're disabled or fragile. Some folks here were in there 80's. One of the bartenders (if she moved any quicker she would be in reverse. ) was lousy. She looked like she just got out of bed and didn't want to be there, no smile with her nonsmoking face. The nds we great thank you Dallas and Sonny Great cause. Love you all. God.bless Chuck and his family.

This place is gorgeous in the main hall. There's also a couple other stages for lesser known acts. Great service and a decent selection of drinks.

I’ll try not to make this review about how awesome The Dirty Nil was but rather about how great this venue is. Staff is friendly, beer is cheap, and the venue is intimate. It’s the perfect atmosphere if you looking to see your favorite band rock out up close. I wouldn’t miss a band I like at this venue.

Amazing place, parking is a bit tight but the music was absolutely great, the atmosphere was very nice, there are two bars inside where you can get drinks, nice tables and lovely architecture. This place is super cool, everyone there is always nice from the bands playing to the people attending, it always feels like you're with friends (even if you don't know anyone there).
