Small but nice museum. My favorite part, is they provide a postcard and send it for free. I sent a nice card back home. The admission was also free.

Fort Worth has some of the finest art museums in the country. As a Fort Worth resident I frequent those museums several times a year but for whatever reason The Sid Richardson Art Museum slips my mind. It could be because this museum is located near Sundance Square and the other museums are in the Cultural District. I went recently to The Sid Richardson to view the Magnificent artwork and sculptures of the Old West of Frederic Remington, Charles Marion Russell & many others. Currently because of Covid, you have to call for reservations to gain entrance to the museum, but it is well worth it. To see a Remington sculpture or a Russell painting up close is a treat. Whether visiting or if a resident of Fort Worth, a trip to The Sid Richardson to explore a bygone era is time well spent.

We just stumbled onto the Sid Richardson Museum strolling around downtown Ft. Worth on a nice late winter afternoon. One of us (me) is a huge Charlie Russell fan so were for sure going to go in and see what sort of a place this was when we noticed it was free. An art museum in downtown Fr. Worth with originals paintings by the two most famous western artists of all time and free!!! That alone is worth five stars. The museum is small - basically just two rooms but the collection is incredible. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. The building is entered through the gift shop (of course! - I think it's some sort of Museum rule that the patrons must enter or leave through the gift shop) and the gift shop was almost as much fun as the museum. It was small also but filled with some very nice items, many locally made, and quite reasonably priced. It also had a small but very nice collection of western books, art and otherwise. Don't go in looking for a souvenir trinket. I didn't notice one in the whole shop. A downtown Ft. Worth must see.

Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. This is a small gallery but worth the visit. And they are one of the only museums in Fort Worth open on Monday so don’t pass up a weekday viewing when downtown!

It is a small museum with only 2 rooms to display paintings and a few bronze sculptures from the collection of Sid Richardson. The docent was heard explaining some of the works to other visitors and offered good services to us too. But we were short on time as we had a flight to catch. The western paintings by Charles Russell and Frederic Remington were impressive and the short descriptions of each of the paintings help in understanding the details. Apparently the displays are changed often. There is a self portrait of Frederic Remington and a bronze sculpture of Charles Russell. It was worth the quick stop.

Named after the Oil Tycoon that collected these Western Themed painting depicting the old West with cowboys and Indians. Free to view in downtown Fort Worth. Only a fraction of the paintings of the collection are displayed at one time, so come back in a few months and there will be different ones displayed. Worth the visit and not overwhelming to take time to view and enjoy.

Lovingly arranged oils and watercolors by Charles Russell and Frédéric Remington of the Old West, the romantic, the violent, and the (for that time) commonplace. And it's free!

100° day; 2 18 year olds… one tired mama. The museum was closing and the kids only got to spend about 45 minutes. They want to go back!! Much appreciation for the art collection. We appreciate the reality of the American West. I am partial to Remington while the kids loved Russell. We live in Fort Worth and will go back to spend more time.

The paintings were nice, and the staff friendly enough. it was small but not what we expected. The staff hovered and watched us constantly in a rather disturbing way. Made us feel like we were intruding. Wouldn't go back.

Very interesting. I'm a history buff and enjoy museums. I'm glad to see the story boards weren't politically correct and told the story as seen through the eyes of that day. History is history, let's not try to sanitize it and try make like it didn't happen. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Fantastic Fort Worth Museum. You learn something new every time you visit. Just steps away from Sundance Square, it's worth a visit for sure! Sad they have removed the gift shop though.

Everyone was nice and answered all questions we had.Their knowledge of the exhibit was overwhelming. You can tell they enjoyed being there and discussing Sid Richardson as a person as well as a collector of art.

Nice small museum on a heart of Downton. The perfect size for a family with small children to learn about art.

Pros: The lady at the front desk was extremely kind and helpful to me. It is a nice, small museum to visit when you are short on time and free to the public. Beautiful, historical artwork. Cons: The security was way overboard! I was the only person there. So, I felt as if I was under a microscope. Security guards try to be subtle but obviously watch you the whole time. If that’s not enough, I could actually hear the security camera moving and zooming in on me as I walked around. I tried to ignore it, but it really made it hard to enjoy the museum. I have been to other museums with much older and more valuable artwork and have never felt the way I did at the Sid Richardson museum. It would have been completely ruined if it had not been for the kind, sweet lady at the front desk.

Charles Russell and Fredrick Remington are the two #1 masters of the American Cowboy. Russell's "Quiet Day in Utica" for me personify the storytelling and humor of some crazy cowboy prank being played to create a rodeo. Russell lived there and painted in Utica Montana and he knew each and every person in that painting. The Lehman boys, Millie the black hotel woman entrepreneur, the Indian. And the inside joke being played by Cowboys.
