It was quite an interesting tour of this great medieval city before Christmas time. The restaurants and cafes were all decorated for Christmas, and we tried mulled wine in one of the places. At this time of year the city is not so crowded with visitors.

Very interesting place, with a 3-4 restaurants which are full around lunch time, but you can have pancakes with ham or Nutella on the street. It's a beautiful Medieval town, especially during the Autumn because of the colours of the falling leaves.

Nice, well preserved and easily accessible by car or by foot. Very small. You can walk every road in the town in 10-15 minutes.

In case you are heading Geneva or Annecy from Lyon, have a break at Perouges. Pity it is not bigger but it has just what makes it so special. A small tour in an amazing Medieval village, some places to eat or drink, museum, gardens, artistic shops, handmade jewelry, wood artworks and more.

One of the most special days of the trip. The charming lady at the office du tourisme, Sabrina, gave us wonderful insights to the village and the contemporary life that flourishes there. Highly recommend that you drop into the office du tourisme on your visit to Perouges. Hoping to visit again soon.

This place is very beautiful and has not a lot visitors. One day trip would be far enough to enjoy entirely of this village. I stayed one night (Wed) and there is no restaurant opening for dinner.

Quaintly beautiful medieval hilltop village with narrow streets and attractive old buildings. Great to stroll around, with a few small shops selling artisanal jewellery and the like; also one or two places to get a drink or a bite to eat.

If you love historical places & enjoy photography this is a great spot about 30-40 minutes east of Lyon, FR. In the medieval city of Perouges there are so many picture-worthy spots around this hilltop village, as well as a hotel/restaurant here and a few artists shops. In the nearby town of Meximieux there are are nice places for lunch or dinner but keep the potential need for reservations in mind & make sure your restaurant of choice is open.

this small town lies on a hill east of Lyon. it takes around 45 minutes to drive to this authentic medieval town. The current rebuild dates back to the mid 1400's. it has long been an important area for trade and early warning to Lyon of approaching armies. around 400 people live within the walls. there are a few businesses that can support tourists (restaurant, shops), but not many. A two hour visit accompanied by a knowledgeable guide can provide insight into the 500 year history of this place

I could not get enough of this beautiful historic place. I was. Awe around each corner I walked. Simply beautiful. Bring you best pair of waking shoes and a lot of space on your phone to take pictures.
