Wonderful guesthouse. Great big rooms, with the nicest view over the town and sea. The staff was amazing, kind and friendly and they were great at telling local facts and stories. The kitchen of the guesthouse was wonderful as well. We got to try all kinds of different things, with the main focus on serving local ingredients. Both seafood and lamb were from this place. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

Dated but nice hotel in great location. The "new" wing looks like a concrete bunker tho the rooms are largish and modern. We stayed in the main building which looks like it should be in Switzerland. Unfortunately we had the only 2 rooms with the only view being a white stone wall yet surrounded by stunning scenery. The restaurant ( if you can get in) was very good as was the wine. As usual expensive. Free parking and internet

Really expensive. 620 dkk for a two person mussel, clam and two langoustine pot. They were out of everything that day except that one dish. We were famished so we paid and had it. Seafood felt fresh, but overpriced for the amount. They did have free wifi and toilets though.

Our photo group had dinner here and It was one of the best meals we had while visiting the Faroe Islands! We also had the pleasure of meeting the Managing Director, Inga Hjallnafoss. Although it was our most expensive meal on this trip, it was well worthwhile. Be sure to book ahead since it's very popular. We wished we had time to go back for another meal! And while you're there, the village is beautiful to visit.

Rooms were so far clean but I agree with other reviewers, that parts were moldy in the shower etc. Beds were fine but mattress very soft. Service was on some days great and on some days not (we stayed there 4 nights). Food was fine and prices okay. Breakfast was sufficient with salmon, cheese, fresh buns etc. Location itself is fine when focused on the Northern area. The traditional evening is recommended. One could try traditional food, with nice music and dances.

Restaurant only. We had lunch, average food priced as a top class restaurant, 788 dkk for 2, small bowl of chips and a few lamp chops (imported from Ireland). Get great fish and chips at an EFFO petrol station for a 120 dkk per person !

Restaurant review only. Dinner day: Tuesday. Mediocre food for upmarket prices. I get it things are expensive to transport, but for this price I expect some attention to detail. The lamb chops were just tasty but SO average, they even came with chips. Chips! Absolute rip off. A lady was complaining about having too little rice on her dish. Service was very good, very friendly staff.

This is a review about the restaurant, not the hotel. I was with a large group of photographers on a beautiful Sunday afternoon this summer. We were greeted warmly by the staff who were all incredibly prompt and friendly during our dinner. My meal was the monkfish with a side green salad, and was absolutely delicious. The food was presented artistically, and the flavors were lovely. If you have a chance to visit, please consider having lunch here, the views and the village below are very beautiful and worthy of a walk through the area, particularly for photographs.

We stayed in the twin room in the main building, it was a very small room for 2 and the tiniest bathroom. Not very comfortable bedsv either as too soft... They have better rooms with a view in an annex building, but as we booked through an agency we didn't choose. They offer breakfast with the room, and it's a good selection on the buffet. Dinner is really expensive, but tasty. There's no other choice in Gjogv anyway for dinner, so you need to book even if staying at the hotel.

This is a review of the restaurant, which was fantastic! Wonderful food and service. Best to get reservations for lunch, and a must for dinner. (or you won’t get a table).

We came by for lunch. Didn’t expect much. Ordered their lamb chops and were blown away! The best lamp chops we ever had served with locally grown new potatoes. Amazing! Topped it up with a local Faroese Beer and their Tiramisu. Great experience (after a very windy and rainy hiking trek to the local hills).

Good service, nice venue, fresh seafood. I would rather suggest the chef to dare less as their oysters and sea urchins do not need any additional dressing. They are lovely raw and “naked”. She is lovely and attentive, although. This is a constructive suggestion.

I did not stay here at the hotel, I just had lunch. But it was terrific! What a great surprise. Excellent service, food was beautifully prepared and served. Highly recommended!

The food at the restaurant is excellent! We had a large group and the staff was very accommodating and the service was excellent. If you want a great meal with outstanding service this is the place. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

This review is for the restaurant as we did not stay there. My wife and ate here for lunch. While it is a bit pricey, it was worth every penny! The food was amazing and the service excellent. My wife has food allergies and the chef made amazing food for her also! We highly recommend it It’s Hard to get a table in the evening as the guests staying there will get first priority. But, you should be able to book a lunch and we would do it in a heartbeat again.

If you want to eat at the guesthouse, you have to make your order in advance. You can only buy cake and beverage if take a spontanien visit. The staff was nice. But eating cake when you are hungry, is not the best opotion.

We stayed in one of the cottages above the main guesthouse and it had a spectacular view of the village and surrounding scenery. Staff were friendly and courteous. I just can't give it a full 5 star rating due to the showers as water gets all over the entire bathroom and are a bit mouldy. The food is delicious, but expensive and you must absolutely book your timeslot in advance. If you're late like we were on arrival on Gjogv (we didn't realize how slow the drive would be from the capital due to mountain roads), they'll understandably give your table away as they are in high demand.

This place is expensive… when we arrived around 2pm they only served a seafood platter with langoustines and veggies (see picture). The broth was really really good but was it worth 620,00 kr for 2? - not too sure.

Great atmosphere, super friendly and helpful staff. Top quality steak. Vegan and vegetarian options available. A must if you are in the area

Ok we don't know the rooms, but the restaurant is outstanding at this last place on earth you can imagine. The tuna tartare as a starter was miraculously. A bit of lemon and pepper would have been nice. The mains we chose sole meunière and lamb chops. It came with potatoes and fresh carrots. Again a treat. The wine was pleasant. Service courteous and attentive when asked. The dessert a cheese cake you would not even think of... not an artificial one like in the US, but a smooth delicious dessert made locally. All in all Färöer prices you should expect and not to argue like most Germans do. At least it is worth the value and a lot of countries and places it's not.

I can speak for the actual overnight experience at this Guesthouse. We saw the reviews concerning the high price of lunch/dinner so we stocked up on foodstuffs before coming and ate simple thing in our room. I think the target demographic of the *restaurant portion* of this guesthouse are the day-trippers who come here on busses everyday to explore Gjogv (elderly folk, it seemed). My feeling is this restaurant jacks up the price because they are the only restaurant in town, and can get away with it. With that said, the guesthouse is located right in Gjogv, and is a 3 minute walk from the gorge. There is plenty of parking. The room was simple, with 2 twin beds. It was warm, and there was a beautiful view of the mountains from our window. Bathroom was small, but functional for us. Other rooms were occupied by couples who were also traveling. It was quiet and I slept well! We were really excited about the activity room in the basement. There was table tennis, foosball, pool, and darts - for free! We had a blast. I was genuinely surprised by the free buffet breakfast - I would stay here again just for that. There was cheeses, salmon, sliced meats, breads, AMAZING CROISSANTS, sliced fruit, yogurt, juice, and coffee. It was definitely one of my top 3 meals on the Faroe Islands. We swiped a croissant, stuffed it with salmon and cheese and saved it for lunch - so good.

We only dined in at the restaurant which is very overpriced. The quality of the food did not match the price we paid, and we waited an hour just to get our starters. Although our initial impression was that the restaurant catered to children, we did not really feel this to be the case, as there were no portion sizes for kids.

The room was beautiful and the staff were excellent. We ate dinner at the restaurant, and though it was pricey, it was SO good!! Breakfast that is included with your stay was great! The location, Gjogv, was my favorite little town on the Faroe Islands. I definitely recommend staying here
