The hostel has everything you need while in Kandy for Budget travellers. Walking distance to bus station and train station. Even though it is central it is not noisy at all and it has views of the local street life and the backdrops of the mountains. Nicely decorated and clean dormitories, they are well designed with plenty of plugs. Well equipped kitchen and good food options around from local rice and curry to western chains. The staff and the owner are very helpful, they can provide all sort of tours for every budget and give very good information on what you can do around the city. And it is inexpensive!!

The best thing about this place is its really cheap and walking distance to bus/train station. i paid 900 per night. its a nice place, but air conditioning with additional charges would have been better. the heat and the mosquitoes are horrible in the night. if you dont have good mosquito repellent, you are finished. kitchen is well quipped but without gas, so cant cook anything. can make coffee and store foods inside the refrigerator. bathrooms are brand new and very clean. the dorms are 3 levels up, you will have to get used to that for sure. its on the main street and you can get busses to anywhere from there.the guys managing it are non-invasive and will never trouble you. oh yes, the place is mostly empty with almost no one coming, so you can just walk in. you would be probably alone all night.cherrs and happy travels. This hostel is your best bet if you want to visit Kandy and stay in a very good location walking distance from bus and train station. It's clean, modern and well equipped even with kitchen if you'd like to cook. There are multiple options for cooking or shopping for food around. The hostel also offers day tours around the city which we found very interesting :) definitely recommended it to anyone!

Great value. The place was quite clean and the beds are comfortable enough. Every bed is provided with power outlets for charging. The hostel seems to be completely run by one man, who does a great job and is very friendly. Breakfast is included and is nice enough (the usual eggs and toast). There is many restaurants/roti shops nearby and some bakeries as well.

We arrived and after going up the 30 or more stairs there was nobody. Then after 10 min someone came to proceed with check in but they didn't have any change and they don't accept card payment. But despite that, the place is nice, very clean, spacious, good kitchen, nice toilet, they give you towels. Good location and nice vibe.

Great location and good service. Room can be more cleaner with updated bet sheets. Price is reasonable for what we got. Highly recommended.

This hostel fails to complete the first and most essential objective of any hostel, that is being open. tl;dr, this place isn't open anymore but they didn't think to tell any of the third party platforms still taking bookings on their behalf (or people like myself with existing reservations) If you have time, feel free to read me describing this in greater detail. I arrived this afternoon thinking 'Gosh, that was a long train ride, I I can't wait to relax in my hostel' Made the short walk from the train station to find a shut roller door. I've seen shut doors before, but a roller door being shut is a very definitive sign that you won't be coming in. Despite this, I called the the number on the sign anyway and praised them on their security, but enquired as to how I was supposed to enter. I was informed the hotel was shut for renovations, and asked to please text on WhatsApp for directions to the new location. I waited five minutes for directions to a guesthouse I could see directly across the street. I am not sure why 'big yellow building across the street' could not be conveyed over the phone, but I guess five minutes hiding in the rain awaiting instruction is an essential part of the experience. I then went to the new location, expecting the person on the desk would know about my booking, being I had just been told it was a replacement. The person at the desk had no idea who I was, so I rang back 281 Kandy City Hostel to clarify and he said he was just helping me find an alternative and it wasn't actually an affiliated replacement. It was very kind of him to take the time to point out there was a hotel I could see with my own eyes across the street. I asked why the hostel was shut, he said it was shut because they hadn't had enough bookings. The hostel was mainly based on the second and third floor, it looks empty as far as I can tell from the street. I then asked why they hadn't thought to let people with existing bookings know, and remove themselves from booking sites. He said 'there must have been an error' I would say that's more than 'an' error and entering 'series of complete and utter F ups' territory. In theory the location would have been great, but I feel like giving every aspect 1 star because I can't allocate minuses to the other categories.

Nice new hostel, 10 minutes walking from busstation and trainstation. Rooms were spotless, toilets were super clean and the kitchen was one of the cleanest I have ever seen. For 10 € a night this is one of the best deals you can have in Kandy city.

Nice and clean hostel with affordable prices. The staff is friendly and efficient. Just to note that the acustic insulation was really bad, we could listen a lot of noise from the outside. Also, they tried to charge us for using the kitchen to cook, which doesn't make any sense.

The AC and non-AC rooms were both really nice. It is a little loud because of the train and the main street. But the hostel is really clean and tidy. The boys are really helpful and sweet! I would definetely recommend staying there!

Nice and clean place, the best bathroom facility so far with hot water! Only missing breakfast but value for money, located at the center of Kandy! The only draw back is their LONG stairs!!

Easy, safe, clean, handy amenities, nice people, power point next to the bed, was a good one night place to crash when passing through. Located near the bus exchange which is very handy when travelling with a heavy pack.

😠 The host always drunk. The rooms are not clean and nice, linens are full of dirty, someone used them before but not replaced new ones. Bad smells going over. Drunken people everywhere. I had no choice. So stayed there, terrible experience. Never going again there. Worst place in kandy. 😑😑😑
