Would give ZERO stars if possible. Have never been treated more poorly at any establishment. Entire staff was extremely rude and acted as if they were superior to every guest. Whoever monitors this page is the most narcissistic and unpleasant person I've ever witnessed. For anyone thinking of booking, think twice. Anyone that leaves anything short of a 5 star review is met with an extreme amount of hostility and they bash your personal character to the point where it makes you want to take down your review as your name is associated with it. Look at anyone that left a 1 or 2 star review. They get harassed by the owner (or whoever manages this page). That's the only reason they keep their high rating. Also, just about anyone who has had their wedding here has a horrible experience, so definitely think twice about staying here. The person who manages this page needs a serious reality check. Would never recommend staying here to anyone. There are plenty of better options where you'll be treated with respect. ...patiently waiting to be harassed by this person over my experience here. Just know that the customer's experience is much truer than you're made up accusations to bash honest people for how they were treated.

If I could give this hotel ZERO stars I would. We booked a Grand Suite for myself and my daughter for the night before my her wedding. My in laws booked an additional room so they could be nearby, as she was getting married in the church across the street. The next morning we had the bridesmaids, hair and makeup team arrive to get us all ready. I ordered a continental breakfast for everyone so we could eat something before the ceremony. Needless to say, we spent quite a bit of money here, which at this point was fine. The morning of the wedding after we all got ready, the photographer and video team arrived. They thought it would be cute to do a photo shoot of us all having a champagne toast. I called down to the front desk and asked if they could send us up 10 champagne glasses ( only GLASSES) we had our own champagne that the hotel had left in the room. They told that would be $3.00 per GLASS ! WHAT? I don’t want to take the glasses home!! I told the girl on the phone that was ridiculous. She had me hold on a minute then told me that since we had ordered the suite, the additional guest room AND breakfast for everyone that they would waive the $30 fee… great I thought… thank you. BUT then she called back 5 minutes later and told me she couldn’t do that, the glasses would be $30!! I politely asked her if that $30 was worth the review that I was going to leave ? She said there was nothing she could do…. THEN after no champagne toast, we are preparing to leave to go the ceremony, so I call the front desk for a bell hop to help us down with our bags…. 20 minutes and NO ONE shows… We have to get to the church for my daughter wedding!!! So myself , the bridesmaids in our gowns and my daughter in her WEDDING GOWN ARE DRAGGING OUR BAGS DOWN THE HALLWAY!!! Absolutely disgraceful!!!! This hotel brags about their 5 star service? There service or better yet LACK of service is disgusting. My daughter has 3 bridesmaids who are engaged and initially loved the idea of getting ready here…. NOT ANYMORE! I hope that $30 was worth it Garden City Hotel! I’ve just read your reply.. too bad none of what you are saying is true. You obviously were not there the day of my stay and have not gotten the correct information.. I most certainly was told by your staff member that considering I had ordered breakfast for 10 that they would waive the $ 30 fee…. Then they back peddled and was then told they could not. And for you to say that we waited only 5 minutes for a bell man…. Again ….more incorrect information. When we passed the front desk to check out and I told your staff member the bellman never arrived…. She was actually surprised to hear it. So before you start calling your paying customers liars, maybe get your stories straight. The only good thing about my stay was dealing with your staff member Brandi. She was lovely to work with.

This was a beautiful hotel! Google maps said it would take longer to get to the train station, but it's literally across the street. This made going into New York City very easy. The rooms were HUGE and very clean! The hand towels had the garden city logo on them and the robes were unbelievably comfortable. The beds were great to sleep in. My wife made friends with a few of the housekeeping ladies. After a full day of traveling to get here, then waking up early to go to the city, we were in dire need of water. The housekeepers were super nice and gave us quite a few bottles!! It went a long way in terms of service. My cousin had his rehearsal dinner at this hotel. I have to say all the food was delicious. My wife is a Mac and cheese connoisseur, and she said the Mac and cheese at their pasta bar was in her top 3 EVER. The desserts that were served were just as good. I'm not sure if I'll ever have a reason to do an event at this hotel, but it is one that I will remember forever. Many of the women on my cousin's side of the family decided to get their hair and makeup done together at the salon in the hotel. They all had a ton of fun and looked beautiful! My mom and wife could not stop raving about how good everyone did. Everyone working here was very professional and clearly very good in their field.

Beautiful antique style hotel. The doormen are all so nice. I was always greeted upon entering the hotel. The rooms are so comfy. I appreciated the robe and slippers since I’m never a fan of walking on the floors of hotels. I’ll definitely be back!

I stayed at The Garden City hotel with a large group of people last weekend as we were in town for the Islanders game and noticed on my way out that there is a “thin blue line”/“blue lives matter” flag prominently displayed across the front of the hotel entrance. In case you didn’t know, GC Hotel, that flag was NOT created just in support of your local police. It was created as a rebuttal to the Black Lives Matter movement and slogan which raises awareness for the obscenely disproportionate number of police murders of Black Americans and Americans of Color in our country. Displaying that flag proudly outside of your hotel tells me that a) you know this and b) that racism is alive and well in your historic institution. I’m not surprised at this fact given its location but I am surprised how loudly you proclaim this with the display of this flag. I called to discuss this with management and I was told I would receive a call back which I never did. I am a discerning customer and I wish had known this information before I made my reservation therefore I think it is helpful for future customers to read this review. We will not return. **edit: they called me back and left a voicemail after I posted this review.

Took a weekend trip from Maryland to stay at this hotel, should have been a rest and relax trip; the hotel was so busy; they have a lot of events so people crowded the lobby at our check in could not hear the check in staff; the room was run down and old the bed was so hard, I had a back pain from Friday night throughout my stay. This is not a 5 star hotel room, it smelled like pee. Booked spa service; due to the wedding party the place was packed. Booked dinner the, the restaurant we wanted was closed for you guessed it...a private event. Had to settle with the King Bar, the food was mediocre. The one bright light was the staff, everyone was helpful and pleasant. If you are taking a relaxing couples vacation don't book this place, they seem to be a hotel for large events. Will not return here.

I always have a great time when I come here. The drinks here have to be one of my favorites at this property. It's been a while since I've stayed in the rooms but the rooms are really nice. I've stayed in a few different ones. The suites are the nicest of course. The people here are all really friendly and professional.

I am from Long Island originally and always heard such wonderful things about the hotel and their infamous Sunday brunch. So, now a few years removed from LI as a resident, I decided to stay here during a weekend visit this past weekend. Can’t say enough about the high level of service and hospitality. This is the kind of treatment you expect and deserve from a luxury hotel. The property was gorgeous and the rooms were beautiful and spacious. I reserved what seemed like their basic room but it was far from basic, it was very roomy and comfortable. I decided to try the Sunday brunch and they certainly did not disappoint. Their regular menu is also really good as is their King Bar. I had drinks there the first night before heading to bed. I look forward to my next visit and in fact, already booked my next stay! Next time I intend to also check out the spa and fitness center.

Garden City Hotel is a nice place to stay, both for business and leisure. It’s offering a great value for the money, specially comparing to the hotels in the area. This one definitely stands out, offering a luxury feel. Everyone’s very friendly and the whole place is well maintained, inside and also exterior. No wonder it’s been collecting all the rewards and recognitions! I highly recommend specially to those who have a certain standard of expectations when it comes to places like this. It will not disappoint you!

The Garden City Hotel is a top-notch venue for weddings. As a wedding videographer, I was blown away by the hotel's sophisticated charm and elegant atmosphere (see video below!). The indoor spaces were filled with natural light, making it a dream come true for capturing stunning footage. The lush gardens and serene fountain were also great spots for taking romantic photos. I highly recommend The Garden City Hotel to any couple looking for a sophisticated and elegant wedding venue.

We stayed here for our 20th wedding anniversary. Our room was ready early and we had a bottle of bubbly waiting for us . The room was very spacious and it was very clean ! King Standard . We then went down to the Spa and had a couples message that was amazing beautiful space and friendly service. I had an amazing massage (my husband wasn't as thrilled with his because he would have liked more pressure and did ask but they did not comply, but mine was amazing she listen to everything I said about spots that were sensitive and where I had pain and even gave me some recommendations when she was done . I Wish I could remember her name She was great ! ) it was to early for dinner so we had a cheese board sent up to the room which hit the spot perfectly! Finally diner at the King Bar , the food was amazing and the service was even better . It was a Tuesday night so it was quiet . The bed was comfy a little hard for my taste but my husband liked it. It definitely felt like a romantic spot I imagine a wedding here would be PERFECT !

Excellent stay! Rooms are impeccable and staff is the sweetest most professional I’ve encountered. Thank you Gary and Anthony, you made my time there extra special. My son kept wanting to come down just to see you. You know how to keep your guests happy. Bravo all around.

The Garden city Hotel=glamour glitz and bots. Beautiful and elegant but desperately in need of hospitality training for some employees especially the front desk. Attempted to get an early check in around 2:40. Waited in line for approximately 10 minutes while the young female behind the counter tended to another customer. Never once looking up to smile, perhaps apologize for the long wait or assure us she’d be right with us. When she was finally done with the first customer completely turned away to answer a walk up patrons question. She was advised by a bellhop that we had been waiting prior to the woman with the question. Finally when I inquired about early check in she had me fill out pre registration information and said she’d contact me if early check in was possible. We walked out at 2:58 only to realize check in was 3:30pm. Thanks for nothing. Do a better job of hiring professional more hospitable employees. Perhaps scale back on some of the fancy things in the lobby and focus on friendlier receptions with common sense at the front desk. Sincerely Tired and exhausted

The staff is wonderful, capped off by Anthony (Tony) at the front desk. The common areas are wonderfully clean, with staff walking the space throughout the day. We were in the pool and witnessed a staff member walk the gym and pool area, then minutes later another staff member came down to mop some shoe prints on the pool deck. Great team work was evident throughout our stay, and housekeeping was attentive, remembered that we had children with us, and quietly knocked as to not disturb them. well deserving of our tip! Don’t forget to tip, the team deserves it.

I liked it but... Beautiful historic hotel that could use a freshening. Lobby, spa, restaurants are lovely, the staff is welcoming (especially Gary at the front desk and our bellhop Luis) but the rooms are faded (and we stayed in the penthouse). Small updates would make all the difference, like table lamps with outlets in them and lighter color schemes. This place ain't cheap and they can do better.

From the second we pulled up to the hotel, to the second we left we, received impeccable service. Jong took our bags and was incredibly kind, informative, and genuinely nice to speak with. The rooms are very clean and the bathrooms are stunning. (They should upgrade their shower heads to match the bathroom). Check out and check in was a breeze and we cannot wait to return.

Perfection personified. Very nice looking place , rooms nice. Bed comfortable. Everything clean. The but comes from the fact that the Bathroom has no vanity and for the price should of had more towels. We checked in late and we didn't want to call for extra. Also, why is it that hotels forget about tea drinkers and only supply coffee. The cafe closes early so couldn't get any

Location was great, since I arrived bt train to attend a family event at the hotel. The room was comfortable and clean, with good facilities. The food at the event was excellent, as was the service. My brother was awakened by the train horn, though I slept through it.

The place is beautiful in a very traditionally American kind of way. Rooms are immaculate and the importance of attention to detail doesn't seem to be lost on the staff. The grounds are similarly well kept and the amenities are well equipped. They have a David Burke restaurant called red Salt Room and it was exquisite(To anyone going I would highly recommend the surf and turf dumplings). One thing I would say surprised me was the quality of the room service food. We ordered a plate of nachos to the room and found them not to the standards set by the other foods and services at this establishment. In fairness, it may have been an off night and it could also simply be a matter of my opinion. Over all I would suggest this hotel to anyone looking to visit long Island.

We are so glad we stayed here and we will return again and again. Caring, attentive service. Beautiful property that truly speaks “Gardens.” Loved the bar and restaurant. Worth the expense. Wish we did not have to leave.

Very beautiful historical building. The lobby is gorgeous in a old fashioned design and luxury. There is a restaurant here as well . A peaceful place that you can enjoy with you parter . The rooms oght not reflect a 5 start hotel, maybe 3.5, considering the *starts that they are categorized

Super comfortable beds, friendly staff. Was there for work so will definitely say it was a bit too fancy for me. Personal preference I guess. But I did feel out of place and didn’t even bother going to the hotel bar due to this reason.

We visited the Spa but didn't stay in the actual hotel. The front desk staff were very polite, helpful and welcoming. So we went again for a second spa treatment 3 weeks later. This place is just 'beyond'. Super tranquil, rejuvinating, refreshing, relaxing, professional. What are you waiting for?

Love it here, been to several festivities most times food is very good especially cocktail hour. Sometimes the main course is a miss & their snack bar. We still enjoy ourselves here.

We decided to do two small stay-cations this year as flight prices were high for a family of 4 and tried this hotel. It feels luxurious when walking in and everything is pristine!!! My kids commented that "this is a fancy place!!!". The rooms are large and spacious and just as beautiful as the reception area. The location is perfect too as you can walk 2 blocks to a slew of restaurants and small shops. The LIRR is right across the street if you needed to take a trip to the city as well. Pool was great for my kids and my husband enjoyed the workout area. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Cleaning staff kept our rooms neat throughout our stay. Checking in/out are also very quick and efficient. We did not go to the restaurant as my kids are picky eaters but plan on doing another adult only trip to try it out.

When you pay four hundred for a Monday night so-called Penthouse room, you deserve a proper guest treatment. Don't believe on internet ads by this hotel. Worst service at reception. Whatever they say about complimentary coffee or place outside the room. Don't take that. I spent four days for work event in this hotel with family. a horrible experience for the price I paid. I will not recommend this place for work or family-related stay. Unless you are attending a wedding here or no other option left. Sharing a penthouse room picture this room was not even $99 with AC. Making so much noise and you can feel the dust while breathing near AC area.

Would have been all 5s but for problem ordering room service. Filet was perfectly cooked but no peppercorn sauce (which I had ordered). Plus, my original order disappeared into cyber he'll. Nevertheless, I'll be there again when in the area. Rooms were spacious, wifi available and I even found the appropriate charger for my phone in a hotel shop.

We recently stayed overnight to celebrate a birthday and Amy Butkiewicz, Reservations Manager, could not be more accommodating and hospitable. From the moment we arrived, their top bellman was there to greet us, along with the rest of the staff and made us feel right at home. The room accommodations were out of this world!! Clean, cozy, and everything we hoped for with our room. We dined in the Red Salt Room where once again...were treated like royalty!! The dining room is timeless and exquisite...and the menu is top shelf across the board!! We will certainly be back again. Thank you to the entire staff at The Garden City Hotel!!! 5 Stars!!!

I attended an event here and the place was first class old school classic luxury in the staging, decor, food, and service. A great place for an event. Valet and self parking available. The food was incredible and the service impeccable. If I had a daughter get married in Nassau County, Long Island - this would be a place high on the list of venues for the party!

I absolutely loved everything about this hotel! I was treated like a princess, honestly at a fair price! It was the perfect place to spend for my birthday and the SUGA concert. The staff were so friendly, it was like talking with close friends and family. I really just wanted to recognize Jocelyn. She is such a sweetheart and an amazing front desk staff! She helped me in a very high anxiety time of my life and went above and beyond in her duties. The room was spacious for amazing value. The property was well maintained and it's such a beautiful building in a quiet, safe, perfect spot of New York.

*****FIVE STARS throughout our whole experience at the Garden City Hotel this past weekend!***** My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful Saturday night stay and delicious Sunday Brunch the next morning at the Red Salt Room. Our accommodations were excellent...beautiful amenities, spacious room, comfortable bed, exceptional restroom, fantastic view, and extremely pleasant service. Brunch was absolutely DELICIOUS - and SO much food! I particularly enjoyed many items in the salad section made by Chef Angela such as grilled figs with farro, seafood salad, seared tuna, and glazed salmon. The lamb with gnocchi and beef brisket with creamed spinach were excellent, as well as an outstanding seafood station prepared by Chef Sal with all the fresh lobster tails, lobster claws, oysters, and shrimp you could eat. The breakfast items such as French toast, eggs, bacon, and sausage were superb. And then we moved on to so many desserts - too many to list. I have to say that their homemade Boston cream donuts are truly THE BEST ever - compared to anyone else's, anywhere. It's nearly impossible to pick a favorite item on the Red Salt Room's Brunch menu, but probably my favorite choice of the whole meal was the out-of-this-world crepes filled with berries and bananas, and topped with fresh whipped cream - all made by Chef Alex. Last but not least, our waiter, Valencia was outstanding! Thank you to everyone at the Garden City Hotel who helped to make our time there so pleasant, delightful, and memorable.

Ohhh I am so disappointed in myself that it took me so long to stay here. I can't wait to stay longer next time around. Very professional and clean. Restaurant seem very popular along with the outside upper patio area that had music and drinks. Valet parking if needed. Rooms very spacious and clean....LOVED IT!!!

Didn't stay at the hotel but had some apps and drinks at The Patio Bar. Loved the firepit at our table (perfect for the chilly night), my drink was delicious, and the apps were tasty. Our waiter was also awesome. Great time had by all!

I had my wedding here and everything was IMPECCABLE! You won’t regret staying here or having an event here. They are meticulous with the details. All our guests enjoyed staying here as well. Can’t thank them enough for the great job they did. Get married here. Have a staycation. A wonderful place to enjoy yourself.

My wife and I must have stayed here two dozen times and the service has gone steadily and depressingly downhill. I am writing this review from my room while my infant son is asleep and have spent the last hour trying to order some food and I’ve just been bounced back and forth between the bar and the front desk. Nobody seems to be remotely interested in helping out. Maybe this place is okay for a wedding venue or for long islanders to go for a drink without having to schlep into the city for a proper night out, but I would recommend steering clear if you have to stay overnight in the Garden City area as a hotel guest.

  • 5/5 Graydon B. 1 year ago on Google
Clean & large rooms. Friendly staff. I’ve always had a comfortable stay while here. Easy to park as well. The fitness center is smaller - but it has the essentials & has never been too busy. There’s also some pricey, but tasty, dining options in the lobby.

  • 5/5 Tim S. 1 year ago on Google
Super nice quality inn that is older but nicely updated, designed and maintained. Lively bar as I arrived.. packed actually. And as I entered my room, a wonderful scent welcomed me in to an immaculate room I wanted to stay in. I travel a lot...I wish they all were like this. Go out of your way to come here.

The Garden City Hotel is such a special place to stay. It's a romantic sanctuary with unexpected surprises like a beautiful dog park, and a serene and peaceful club room if you're lucky enough to stay on the Club Level. The service is very accommodating, kind, and pleasant. The entire place is impeccably clean, the beds are big and comfortable, and the restaurants are fantastic. Definitely treat yourself to room service breakfast if you have the chance.

My newly wed husband and I stayed at the Garden City Hotel the night of our wedding. We couldn’t have asked for more. The room/suite was incredible with a spacious living room with a huge couch, a kitchenette with microwave, coffee, sink, and fridge. The bedroom was cozy and the king size bed was put to good use. The double vanity in the bathroom was a nice touch although there was only one sink (not two). BUT the extra special touch was from the owner of the hotel who left us champagne on ice as well as chocolate covered strawberries. We didn’t venture much into the hotel but I heard from various people that the food is top notch whether it’s in one of the restaurants or room service. The staff was super friendly and helpful as soon as we got there, and a special thanks to Ralph at the front desk. Our wedding was that much more special having stayed here. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

Lovely, comfortable and well appointed classic hotel. The bar & restaurant was quite comfortable for lunch, and the tomato basil soup had a terrific flavor! From first footstep on the property you can expect to be well taken care of at this hotel. The staff are all very well trained, good spirited and helpful. Further, the spa is a must-visit! Had a very relaxing massage with the "soothe" add-on that took care of my aches and then a modern 'hydro facial' that did a great job on my skin! The bed was very comfortable and my room was spacious. Also, I was able to order ahead to have a fruit bowl in my room to take care of snack urges. All in all it was a GREAT stay at a classically beautiful and special hotel in the heart of Garden City, Long Island!

Loved the service. Very courteous nice staff. Immaculately clean rooms. Great ambience. Would have given 5 star except for the fact that I asked for a late checkout and the person at the desk refused. We were willing to pay extra. But when we asked for another night stay was not a problem at all. Was very frustrating.
