A wonderful place, perfect for a day tour, with a walk through the beautiful vineyards, and a little mountaineering, and visit the beautiful palace, and finally enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine on the roof of the palace But do not forget the cash, in the Palace Cafe under twenty euros can not be paid by card. I am really excited

The birth place of the fist Riesling wine in the world. This beautiful scenic place is on a hilltop. A place where you can enjoy wine tasting, shopping and beautiful outdoor seating that overlooks a picturesque lush nature. This place also located next to a beautiful castle which unfortunately we were not able to tour. This grand beautifully designed architecture represents the history of this town, and a must visit if you happen to travel here. What better way to complete your visit than walking to a beautiful old church that embraces you with its peace and serenity. Haven’t had the opportunity to do more research on this castle and the story behind the church next to it. But this place will take your breath away.

nice castle - the birthplace of Riesling, a great grape. Good wines, great views over Rhine river standing in the middle of lots of grapevines

Came here to have a tour of the winery and cellar. Was introduced to the history, and had a wine tasting for few of their products. I enjoyed the Riesling Spätlese Grünlack most. Together with a nice view of the vineyard and surrounding landscapes.

Wonderful place for wine tasting, sitting near the orchard or on the patio with every view overlooking the Rhine River. Note: Some children may find it boring. Very relaxing 🥂🙂

Amazing and very big wine estate with beautiful restaurant and veranda, nice wine shop. We took a wine tasting. Just at the shop. There were two sets available. And of course we bought a bottle

Gorgeous castle and very knowledgeable tour guide. However, the tour felt a bit commercial, especially as we were a group of wine lovers, two of which are certified sommeliers, and so we expected more depth. Their tasting is also ok but not amazing, as it only includes the most basic of their bottle variety.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch here after a walk through the vineyards. The food was delicious and the setting beautiful. The attached church was interesting also.

Hadn’t been here in 7 years and it’s still as stunning as the first time I visited. The restaurant has a delicious menu and is of exceptional quality - and the Riesling wine is also worth a try. It overlooks beautiful vineyards with the river Rhein in the background. There is nowhere better in the area!

This is a restored castle with a lot of history that is now a winery and event venue, with an on-site restaurant and a separate wine bar in the vineyards. We came here today (an overcast but warm August 2022 Saturday afternoon) after visiting the Niederwald monument, with two other adults and four combined children ages 6, 5, 4, and 2. The parking lot is quite large, though basically just spots along the side of the road leading to the castle. We found a spot close to the castle then walked into the main entrance to the courtyard. We quickly found the "shop" and went in. We asked the women at the desk, who spoke wonderful English and were incredibly friendly and helpful, if we could do a tasting. They don't do formal tastings, but will let you try specific wines you are interested in and give you the background of that wine and help you choose and package your purchase. They were incredibly accomodating to the kids, and even gave them bags of corks to play with as building blocks or make crafts with, and they didn't mind the kids sitting on the floor playing quietly as we did our tasting. We ended up choosing two white wines (rieslings from this vineyard itself) and the only two red wines (from a sister vineyard). We asked if we could have one of the bottles opened so we could bring our picnic blanket out on the property to sit and enjoy the views for a while, but this wasn't possible. Instead, it was recommended we leave the courtyard and make a right toward the Weinprobierstand (wine bar) that is still on the property but outside of the castle itself, which we did, and had a great time (I will leave a separate review for that location). We walked by the restaurant that is located inside of the castle, but did not eat there, though the atmosphere looked great and it didn't look overly crowded despite being such a busy Saturday afternoon. The views from the castle grounds are amazing, though it isn't possible to explore the interior of the castle outside of the shop itself, not even by tour, according to the staff, though we did see some people going in and out of a door that didn't look like staff. Nevertheless, this was a great place to visit with a lot of history and great wines and atmosphere, and the wine bar made the visit complete.

Just wow! The estate is really stunning and beautiful. But best part of the trip to Schloss Johannisberg is the view over the Rhine valley with all the beautiful vineyards. Especially during sunset. Can't wait to come back when the hospitality outlets are opening again. Wine and dine in a picturesque scenery.

One of the best, if not THE best wineries we have ever visited! The riesling is beyond comparison. We also had dinner after touring the wine cellar and tasting several of their wonderful wines. The dinner was superb!! If you ever have the opportunity I would highly recommend this.

The Guide was awesome and told us the history of Vineyard. We also tested some fine Vines 🙂 Everyone in the group had positive feedback afterwards!

Stunningly kept property. Arriving as a foreigner without a reservation at the restaurant, we were peremptorily offered a back-row table, although the panoramic window-row was empty - yhat will only be offered exclusively to Germans, we noticed. The wide Rhine view from the glass-enclosed terrace is unrivaled countrywide, but if there were a curtain covering the view, the best this place could ever rate would be a 3/5. The wine was as good as many of the neighbors, and the proportion of mushrooms ("pfifferlinge") on top of my pasta was 1/10. My advice: sit outside, order a bottle of wine & a couple of Pretzels (cash only!) and enjoy the view. AVOID THE RESTAURANT. PS: no Wi-Fi for clients these days is unacceptable!
