Spent 2 nights at the hotel whilst on the way to Holland. Easy to find, lots of (chargeable) parking. Rooms were clean, bathroom could be better, shower was low pressure. Iron and ironing board in the room, as well as hot drink facilities. Gent city centre is easily reached via tram (€17 for 10 journeys, tickets available from reception). The tram stop is around 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Breakfast was good, enough choices for everyone. If you like IKEA, it's located right next door!

The rooms are old and like in my case can smell smoke. The service people are engaged and helpful. The breakfast is ok. It is very confusing on how to get to the hotel and on how to go back to the motorway. However, taxis are reliable and not so expensive - up to 40€ one way to Gent, which is a very nice city.

It is a three-star hotel at best. I can't say if it was understaffed or just bad-managed, either way it was an uncomfortable experience. Price/ quality ratio is really low, and I've been to more than 5 hotels sharing the franchise. The only positive I have from my stay there was the person at the reception who was in a really bad position understanding our frustration but being armed with politeness only.

This was one of our best stays. Best service, very friendly and helpful staff, clean and spacious room, nice breakfast! What else does one want from a vacation! Highly recommended. Only downside for us was the public transport, somewhat outside city and nearest bus stop was not operating due to renovation work. But I think this would be solved very soon, as there is new tramline work just beside hotel. And with own car, this would be the best choice in Ghent region.

To enter the carpark you need to use the ring but watch out for the signs. Carpark not the best and very very wet. Rooms are overpriced really as the case is in all Holiday inns. Staff super helpful. Dining area fabulous

This is the most terrible Holiday Inn express I have ever visited. We visited in June for a family weekend in Gent. The room was just too bad, far below expectation. I didn't expect paying €400 plus on such an old room with no working fridge . The hotel is accessible by tram which comes frequently anyway. The service at the reception was however polite and staff was helpful...

I would not consider this a 4 star hotel. The hotel is rather old and the rooms and hallways reflect that. The rooms are fine, clean, but manage your expectations for a 4 star. However, the staff here is exceptionally good to deal with. Very very helpful and pleasant. Location was quite good, right at the end of the metro line which made it very easy to get to the centre of the city. Don't bother paying for what you may think is secured parking. You can park for free in the IKEA parking lot which is 100 meters away.

The location is very good. Also the tram station is very close and very convenient for visiting the center of Gent. The hotel is not 4 stars. The room cleaning is lower than medium. We agreed to change towels the second day of our staying. We were out for work from the morning until late afternoon, and they came to clean just after our return to the hotel. Unacceptable

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They provided all the required information. The room were but very dated. The carpet was supposed to be red but had all kind of colours. Breakfast was good. Prices in the bar were reasonable. I believe, it could be a very good hotel if the hotel would get a complete make over

Location is good, BUT you go in circles to get on the highway or get back to the hotel - miss a turn and you take 10 more rounds to get back. It’s an old hotel, moldy smell in bedroom and the carpets are old. Guest service is great.

Hotel close to the motorway. Service is good, but hotel itself is old and little out dated. I had a room without possibility to open window as it was on the courtyard where the breakfast was served, and they don’t even give a bottle of water to the room.

Great hotel however the dinning area was a let down as there were insufficient staff to serve customers in a timely manner. Service was good for us but others waited a very long time for food and drinks.

We settled on 18.03 and today 19.04 the money has NOT been returned. They take double and triple payment. Administrators are careless. It has already been a month that erroneously withdrawn money in double the amount per day of stay is NOT returned. They don't answer letters. Absolutely irresponsible. The hotel is old enough. There is no ventilation placed in a room inside the courtyard where the windows overlook the bar which is under a plastic dome. The windows do NOT open.

I just used the restaurant and it was not so nice. The hotel was far from every where. Room was ok. The shower had no pressure. It is not that bad, but I will not repeat in this hotel.

Stayed here whilst visiting Gent for 3 days 2 nights. The staff were very polite and helpful, the food was amazing and reasonably priced, and the facilities were good, bar a few points I shall get onto later. There were 4 of us and we booked 2 rooms, we had a lock-off, which we were pleasantly surprised with as we didn’t specifically book this, and we could fit the tables through the lock-off door (with a bit of wiggling), meaning at dinner time, when we ordered room service, we could have a nice meal all together. The room had all the necessary amenities, including a mini-fridge, which was a nice touch, though you must stock this yourself. The beds were comfy, and the room was kept warm throughout the night. We did have a couple of gripes however: - The hairdryer in one of the rooms did not work properly. - The sink in the other room would not drain - The rooms were not ready when we arrived, even though we were told one of them was - We weren’t informed about tourist tax on the booking, nor were we informed about the travel disruptions after buying a CityCard (which could be used for travel) Overall we were very satisfied with our stay. The negatives were only mild inconveniences, and the lack of information was expected as it is a business hotel, not a tourist hotel after all.

Our stay was decent, you can hear quite a lot of noise in the morning from people leaving. The room itself was also quite old but clean. Bed slept good. Bath tub was quite rusty and couldn't get the bath plug out without extra utensil. All by all, it's decent because of the location, but would probably go somewhere else if you don't need to be at the EXPO.

Room is quite dated, which would not matter, if it wasn't that hot and the climate would be available in winter, which it isn't. Could not open the window since it is pointing towards the inner areas. Service is great, several Destination Chargers for BEVs, good location.

The hotel is in a good location, close to the highway/motorway but there is a really annoying loop where you have to go around the site around and around and it get really annoying. The hotel is ok but the rooms need serious renovation as its like in the 90s. Not sure i would go again unless its the cheapest around.

Location is good, just off motorway. No lighting feom car park up some very dangerous steps up to reception. Rooms very dated. Lack of plug sockets so difficult to charge phone without unplugging lights, also not near the bed.. Sadly I had an issue with reception which took a threat of speaking to management to be resolved. Very expensive for a one night stay. Wouldn't stay here again.

I must confess that when I drove up to this hotel, its external appearance made me fear the worst. It's not the most attractive of buildings. However, I was pleasantly surprised as soon as I walked up to Reception. Check-in was efficient and we took the lift up to our room. The room was fine for a couple of nights stay. It was clean; the bed was comfortable and everything worked as it should. The air conditioning kept the room cool and the controls were simple to use. The neat reading light above the bed had 2 built-in USB ports. The free wi-fi didn't drop out whilst we were using it. The restaurant is located in the atrium and the Breakfast buffet is plentiful and good. The dinner menu isn't too extensive, and don't expect gourmet dining. The hotel is located 200m from a tram stop which takes you on to central Ghent and is the best way to access the city. It's also located adjacent to the motorway network which is very convenient for onward travel. The Holiday Inn is ideal for a short stay and for business people.

Staying in Holiday Inn is like staying in your own home. Every time I got very comfortable with my vacation at Holiday Inn. The lady in the reception (Ms. LENA) was super gentle, warm, and welcoming. I told her that I choose Hotel Holiday Inn for most of my vacation. Once she hears that, she immediately suggests that I fill out the membership form, she said I will get points to utilize my next stay. Other staffs were also very nice and polite. The room was clean and breakfast was super good as always (I love that scrumble eggs from Holiday Inn). Thank you team Holiday Inn. We enjoyed our stay.

Upon walking it the hotel had a very pleasant smell and the rooms didn't disappoint. Was only there for a night so can't speak on the location in comparison to site seeing. The downside of this location is the path you have to take to get to the hotel and the 15 euro charge for parking per day. The hotel was nice enough to comp this for us and give us a pass to exit the hotel

Nice hotel albeit a little dated rooms that could do with updating. Very quiet. Breakfast little expensive but guess on par for the hotel brand (we were room only so didn't have breakfast). Nice hot shower which went down nicely. Guess hotel will be busier if events are held. Note that signage to hotel could be improved.

The location is perfect, just on the outskirt of the city, which is easy to get to either by car or public transport. A modern, clean, very comfy place with a beautiful breakfast area. One thing that left bitter taste in my mouth: since the place is situated in an industrial park, It has a huge parking area, yet they charge you for using it. From a place of this caliber it felt a bit like rip off, or rather a trick to mask the costs of your stay while you compare the prices, since i can't really imagine anyone coming there without a car. Anyway, I'd go there again nevertheless

It's a decent Holiday Inn hotel, but it does feel a big aged. You can tell that, back in the time, it was a luxurious building but it needs a bit of renovations in some places. Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast buffet is extended and nice.

What 1 great hotel! It's like coming home. Friendly front office staff, always with a smile! What a nice breakfast, not expensive for what you get. Comfy beds and pillows, we slept great. The food and drinks were also delicious. Don't hesitate, book!

Update: within a few hours of sharing my review, I received apologies from two staff members for the noise, and have also been contacted by the hotel manager to discuss. At least from a customer experience perspective, this is very impressive and positive response to my original one star review, thus changed review to three stars. Grim rooms, very poor sound proofing and noisy air con / heating that keeps you awake all night, overpriced restaurant were a €20 burger is utterly disgusting. The female waiter in the restaurant was however very professional, always smiling and great service. Stayed for two weeks due to work, feels like you get minimum the business can get away with. Hoping we can use a different hotel for monthly stays in future.

Negatives : rooms are old and shabby. No proper lighting, no charging points near bed. It takes 5-10 mins for hot water. Needs proper renovation Positive : breakfast and food is good. Staff is helpful and service is good.
