One of the last classic cafΓ©s in Gent. Check it out. The owner loves to tell the history of the bar and building and more.

A classic Gentse local, known for its peasant version of caviare 'Kroakemandels' (deep fried dried peas) served as bar snack...try them! πŸ˜€ The accent is very Gentse...the welcome warm. Authentic Gent!

This is a very old bar that is still run by the wonderful couple who started it. It has a very warm feel and nice ambience to it. Highly recommended.

Absolute lovely cafe ran by the most adorable older couple that will have you laughing the entire time. Honestly the warmest hospitality I’ve ever encountered!

This is a place to visit! Is it especially beautiful? - No! Is it very stylish? - No! Is a place to see and to be seen? Definitely not the later! Cafe Folklore is potentially the last independent Volkscafe in Gent. You can get Jupiler and Stella from the tab. The owners are a lovely couple that have been in the trade for ages. The interior is unique and real. And when you are lucky they are just serving kroakemandels as a snack with your beer - a true and rate specialty from Gent. Sadly - these kind of places hardly exist anymore and will be gone in a couple of years. So enjoy it while it lasts and definitely pay Cafe Folklore a visit. P.s.: One day I visited together with my 6 year old son - Marina - the owner - just had her lunch - she shared her fries with my son! Thatβ€˜s nothing you will ever experience in any vegan hipster instragram coffee joint!

Great little bar tucked away from the hustle and bustle. Reasonable range of beers and friendly staff.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ As I said to the boss again today: I am glad that you have started the original concept again: no cutlery, no plate, only a croque in a wicker basket, a basket for the potato wedges and a nice fresh drink. And you tell the customer that he can always get cutlery and a plate. I approve. The croques...
