Average meal, very disappointed. Won’t come back. Not worth the price at all. None of us really enjoyed unfortunately. I have had much much better (and bigger pieces) omakase with cheaper price. Even upgraded the hot dish to A5 Miyazaki, the beef was bland. Had bones in the cod fish (hot dish), ridiculous! Oh and the miso paste that comes with the fish was very salty! I could also feel “sands” in one of the sushi too. Definitely not the standard I was expecting from an omakase restaurant. Overall, sad and pathetic. Ruined my birthday meal 😞 However, they were nice to do something special for my birthday like they replaced the handroll to cholesterol bowl and dessert was different from others. But food wise, still didn’t impress me unfortunately.

It was an extraordinary omakase experience in Kazumasa. My friend and I enjoy it so much. Went there to celebrate my friend birthday. My friend commented it was one of the unforgetable meal ever. Manager-Syed, staff and chef are so friendly. Due to previous miscommunication we didnt have chance to sit at the bar and dine hence we left. This time we went back and get the bar seat and they make it all up to us. Prepare special arrangement for my friend's birthday. I would say I am so impressed with the food prepared by the chef. Chef enthusiasm and professionalism in preparing the food is superb! Definitely recommend to try this restaurant. We definitelly will be back for more!

look back the comments only, i notice, I had it last year! all food is fantastic this time as well! One of the best Omakase in penang! I craving for this so long, finally I manage to order their Omakase Bento! When I receive all seafood is still fresh and the portion is really big!💯💯 In love their sashimi plate and sushi! It's really hard to find another Omakase in better than this in penang. Will definitely order again for next celebration! ❤️

We had the Chef's special omakase. The meal was exquisite, each course contained premium ingredients that were slowly and meticulously assembled to produce dishes as pleasing to the eye as the palate. This gem in Penang is worthy of a spot in any capital city in the world. A pleasing touch is the little dish that holds the soy sauce. Empty it looked as if the bottom was contoured but with no discernable pattern. Then when the soy sauce is added a picture of Mount Fuji emerged.

I had the ala carte menu with my family and happy to say we had a very pleasant experience here. Staff members were very polite and understanding even though we arrived later than our reservation time. Ordered a range of cold and hot food and all of them were really tasty and fresh and very well prepared. Particularly enjoyed the cod fish and the Japanese wagyu which was super tasty. Service was excellent as well. Kudos to the chefs and staff members. Will certainly visit again in the future.

Located in Tanjung Tokong area, Penang. It’s one of the best Japanese resto in town. Semi fine dining, nice plating and pretty sushi. Quality fresh imported seafood from Japan, delicious food from ala carte to various Omakase set. I try almost half of the ala carte and always back for more. The pictures posted today is part of Moegi Omakase. Nice decor, cozy ambience, choose normal table or counter table. Friendly and helpful Chef and staffs. Prebook on Omakase. Limited space so booking is required. Very recommended!

Had my birthday meal here, and really enjoyed the Omekase. As we sat down some of the fish arrived from the airport straight from Japan.. so we got to see the chef go at it full on! The staff were extremely attentive and super fun to chat to; honestly they will do anything to help make your experience too notch and have superb knowledge of the cuisine. The Sake Sommelier really knew his stuff too and picked out a lovely few Sake for us to try with the meal. The chef was excellent and explained everything in great detail....very Interesting indeed. He even grated the real Wasabi for us to try straight off the grater!! Delightful and so Aromatic! A great experience and such a treat! Come give it a go People! 👍👍👍👍👍👍

This Japanese restaurant serves the best unagi and beef fried rice. The plate of freshly cut sashimi are marvellous. There's also four types of omakase for you to choose

Tried the Takumi omakase set and it was definitely worth it. The highlight of the experience was the 6 piece special sushi prelude before the warm main dish. It was amazing. Each sushi presented was absolutely a treat with each tasting getting increasingly better. For the warm dish, topped up additional for the A5 miyazaki wagyu beef with tofu in a milky miso broth. The service was exceptional too, with the staff explaining the ingredients for each presented dish, as well as a few performative presentation from the chef for some special dishes. Overall a great experience with the freshest ingredient for the price point and would return to try other dishes. 😋

We visited Kazumasa for an omakase lunch recently and had a great experience. The dishes were delicate and well curated. I liked that they focus more on the quality and freshness of the ingredients, like the traditional Japanese restaurants do. The service staff were also friendly and attentive.

This is certainly the best Japanese restaurant that I went to in Penang. We had the set lunch this time as we have not booked the seats for Omakase in advance. The Omakase counter was full. The services and food quality are excellent. The taste of the food is the same as that we experienced in Japan. The price for the lunch sets are very reasonable. We will come back to try the Omakase next time.

Ordered the assorted sashimi which comes out fresh sweetness and moist. The lunch set that was ordered is perfectly cooked. The tempura is thin and crispy while the unagi and white fish are grilled just right

Exquisite omakase experience! Each dish was a masterpiece, beautifully presented with fresh ingredients. Flavors were well-balanced, and the chef's creativity shined throughout. A must-try for Japanese food enthusiasts!

I had the chance to try Kazumasa and was not disappointed. After trying 8 local sushi places since arriving in Penang. Most were highly recommended but only one was passable. As an avid lover of good food I had a lovely experience with the Kazumasa Set Lunch a good value at $55RM and an attentive service team. The lunch set gave me a quick understanding of their approach to food preparation and service. After struggling to recover from the effects of Covid 19, they in my opinion got it right today. Service was attentive and informative and the food was prepared with care. As I watched the chef grate the fresh wasabi at the Omakase station my excitement grew. Food preparation in the kitchen and at the sushi station were closely synchronized and hot items were still piping hot when they arrived at the table and sushi and sashimi was what I hoped for, fresh, clean and tasty. If you have time and feel nostalgic for a taste of Japan, Kazumasa provides that. Whatever challenges they faced are meticulously overcome through care, attention and craftsmanship. Planning my next visit and will try the Chef's Choice Omakase.

Went for dinner with the wife. Tight-knit ship with fresh food, well made. Syed was the maitre d' did a fantastic job, and called back to let us know they had a table for us even though we called in late The servers were polite. Prices are a bit steep but not surprising considering the food and service.

Legit the best Omakase in Penang. Although our reservation was mixed up, 3 pax instead of 4 pax omakase booking but they more than made up for it with their amazing food and hospitality. We were so impressed. We truly enjoyed ourselves very much and had so much fun. The ambience and service was amazing as well, kudos to the fantastic people over at Kazumasa Japanese Cuisine. We would definitely recommend to our friends and come back when we are in Penang. Do remember to make your reservations early as they are almost always fully booked!

Came here with friends during lunch for Omakase without reservation. The staff was graciously welcoming us in. Luckily it wasn't fully occupied, hence we were given the bar seat. Since it was my first Omakase experience, hence I have no comparison to draw with unlike my other 2 friends. They were certainly impressed and wowed away by the food prepared by the chef. As for me, as I was recovering from COVID and in midst of regaining my sense of smell and taste, I guess I do enjoy some of the stronger tasting dishes, and especially the texture of the food. I liked the attention paid to the details on the combination of the food, the sequences of having them in order to fully savour the textures and flavours of each ingredients the chef has prepared. Even their cutleries are fascinating and cute. Again, I would say I'm giving 4 🌟 even though I couldn't taste all food but because of the atmosphere, customer service, food presentation and the chef's skills while preparing our Omakase. I underestimated their food portion, thinking I would still be hungry after the course meal, which was NOT true. We were full and satiated(so much for our back-up plan to head to Edo-Ichi/Daorae across the street thereafter). Well worth the meal indeed. Will definitely return again to fully enjoy the taste the next time I get my taste and smell back. Side note: Better to make reservations for bar counter to watch all the action. Their selection of sake is delightful, also they allow you to choose a sake cup design you like.
