This is Thai Buddhist temple of Theravada tradition which houses a huge reclining Buddha inside the Shrine Hall. Apart from that there are also many other figurines of Arahants. The main Shrine Hall also houses the urns of departed ones. A very good serene and peaceful place to pay homage to the Buddha. There are areas within the main Shrine that allows devotees to offer oil lamps but incense is to be placed outdoors. Monks' robes can be purchased and donated to the monks but can only be done in the nearby building within the vicinity of the Temple premise.

We visited this peaceful yet impressive Buddhist temple that houses a large reclining Buddha. The image is so serene and peaceful. The floor tiles with lotus flowers are wonderful. Besides Buddha, there are also images of Guan Yin and Phra Phrom. This is a wonderful place for some peace and prayer.

This temple is the oldest Malaysian Siamese temple. In 1795, The temple features one of the world's longest (Reclining Buddha / Sleeping Buddha) (108 ft / 33 meter) statue as well as several coloured statues of Yaksha and other mythical creatures. Several smaller statues of the Buddha in various poses, as well as the Devas can be seen throughout the temple, particularly adorning the main prayer hall & the entrance hall. If you are in Penang - George Town, probably you can take a quick visit about +/- 30 min.

Very impressive Thai Buddhist temple. The reclining Buddha statue is massive, but what really drew me to it was the serene face as it fills you with calm and peace. The sculptor got it just right. There are other statues as well and memorials of devotees who have passed. The giant stupa on the grounds is also worth a look. We were there on a rather crowded day as the Burmese temple across the street had an event going on. The spillover of young devotees into the Thai precinct added some noise and colour, as well as photo clicking opportunities. A must see in culturally rich Penang.

Wat Chayamangkalaram in Penang is a serene oasis of Thai Buddhist architecture. The temple's vibrant colors and ornate details create a peaceful atmosphere. The highlight is the impressive Reclining Buddha, stretching gracefully along the temple hall. Captured the tranquility of this sacred space and shared it on Google Maps for others to appreciate. #WatChayamangkalaram #BuddhistHeritage #PenangDiscovery

Peaceful place where you can think about spiritual things. Inside, you'll find a big statue called the Reclining Buddha. The temple is very clean, which helps make it a nice place to feel connected to something bigger than yourself.

An incredibly beautiful and quiet thai buddhist temple in Georgetown. It felt like being in Bangkok's temples again, and I do recommend to visit early in the morning before it gets toot hot. Stop by the ice cream vendor at the entrance and refresh yourself with mango sticky rice to feel even more in Thailand.

Parking: Try the parking space inside the temple, if not you can park on the road side and walk to the temple. Entrance fee/Tickets: None. Temple premises: Neat, calm and clean, overall very peaceful place with good positive vibes. The Sleeping budha statue size is amazing, it was bigger than I imagined, very good maintenance and friendly staff. All religion/race are welcomed and I didn't notice any restrictions to dress code, but I suggest visitors to be respectful and wear decent clothes.

Always a great spot to unwind and regain some calm after long weeks. Come on a weekday, the place is crowded usually on weekends and public holidays. I always like to tell my fortune there at the machine. Each reading is only 50 cents. There are stalls out front that sell souvenirs and prayer bracelets. They have some pretty sturdy items - bought a prayer bracelet about half a year ago and it's still as good as new. This visit got me a cute GYM key chain. If you're taking public transport, there is a bus stop nearby. Look for RapidPenang lines with the stop Sleeping Buddha and it should stop you within 200m of the place.

In my life first time I visited a Buddha template. I found a special kind of peace in the temple. All the people maintain silence here. The temple is situated at Penang Island in Malaysia. Two temple situated just opposite. In the temple a very big Buddha statue is present. The statue is so big that capturing the full statue in a single shot was so tough. Me and one of my friend found some time out from our busy schedule and just visited the temple. The silence I found which made me speechless. I love the place and always I will ask everyone who is visiting Penang should visit the temple.

This temple is very solemn, quiet, well visited and has more attractions around it. The locals natives one can watch them doing the rituals. Families, kids, elders, are a site to watch. Needs an hour to walk around and absorb the wealth of heritage & spirits in this temple....

Wat Chayamangkalaram also known as Reclining Buddha Temple is a Thai Buddhist temple located at Pulau Tikus in Penang, Malaysia. The temple is also located opposite the Dharmikarama Burmese Temple at Burma Road (Lorong Burma). This temple built in the year 1845 has one of the largest gold-plated Reclining Buddhas. The 33 meters in length reclining Buddha symbolizes complete peace and detachment from the world. At the entrance of the temple, visitors will be greeted by two statues. Besides the Reclining Buddha, there are many brightly colored statues of Devas around the temple.
