The 'Sun Yat-sen Museum Penang' is in a historic house and is a must for people interested in the history of China. For those that don't know, here is 'Sun Yat-sen' in a nutshell! He devised many of his plans to overthrow the Qing Dynasty in the museum building. In 1910, acting on the immense support among overseas Chinese for the ousting of the Qing dynasty, Sun moved the southeast Asian headquarters of the Tongmenghui party to Penang. Read more if you are interested, but a visit to this museum will greatly help, too. Entrance is 10 ringgits and there is always someone on duty to explain and show you around.

(Translated by Google) "Penang Roaming: Sun Yat-sen Penang Base Memorial Hall" At that time, I came to the Sun Yat-sen Penang Base Memorial Hall. I felt a little deep and excited. I always felt that I had a little fate with the revolutionary era. I started from the previous Jianbai 329 activity and later went to Guangzhou. The birthplace of the Sun Yat-sen Penang Base, the birthplace of the Nanyang Revolution, was the beginning of the planning revolution. I sat in the long table inside, thinking that those revolutionary people used to be in the same place, trying to fight for democracy and freedom to overthrow the Qing Dynasty, and at the expense of life; on the contrary, we are enjoying the free air in Taiwan. Taiwan, pushing yourself to the abyss of suffering, is this correct? In addition to being a cultural city, Penang is also a birthplace of revolution. In the late Qing Dynasty, many Chinese revolutionaries fled to Nanyang to come to Penang. There was the earliest Kang Youwei and our founding father Sun Yat-sen. Since Sun Yat-sen first entered Penang in 1906, he has been at least five times. It mainly seeks the support of the overseas Chinese for the revolution. Domestic people donate money, overseas people donate money, raise revolutionary funds, and even move the Nanyang branch of the League to Penang. At the end of 1910, in the Georgetown City, 120th Street, "Yu Rongzhuang" planned the third uprising of Guangzhou "329 Huanghuagang". Walking into the left and right sides of "Yu Rong Zhuang" is a display of Sun Yat-sen's relevant historical documents. There is a large portrait of the founding father in the middle. Very familiar. After all, we saw big from a young age (laugh). Then there was a joke about the bunny rabbit that I mentioned before, and I was scared to think that the founding father was showing me the spirit. I first took me to Penang to see him, then made me joke like this, scared me to pee. I am... hahaha. The result is that I hand pressed the picture to the rabbit face (smile). It’s a lot easier to make a private museum with a serious atmosphere. The street house "Yu Rong Zhuang" built around 1880 was one of the popular architectural styles of the British Straits during the colonial period. (The British government pays the land tax to see the width of the facade, so the smart Chinese are not covered. There are countermeasures under the policy of really full!) The first floor is the store and the second floor is the residence. It is a model of Shangjia residence. The house has a long and narrow path, with a small patio garden with a rich atmosphere, a breathable and ventilated window, a delicate solid wood staircase, a floor tile with beautiful colors, an old switch on the wall and a traditional Nyonya kitchen. Going to the bottom of the house has a small door, which is the exit that the former national father could immediately escape from the small door in case of an emergency. In fact, it is similar to the structure of the Dadaotun street house. It has the quaint charm of the old building and I like it very much.

Visited this Museum that has a permanent exhibition on Sun Yat Sun ’s early revolutionary period in Penang and the china revolution in 1911. This Museum gives us a glimpse of the amazingly rich history behind this house. A nominal fee of rm5 is collected to enter this Museum. You can learn alot about Dr Sun Yat Sun through all the items on displayed.

Short review: This place is a must go for any history buff. Discover Penang's role in international history, in particular the 1911 rebellion also known as the Xin Hai rebellion. Long review... We came on day 4 of the recently reopened museum and chatted with the friendly and knowledgeable guide. Although the museum is only on one floor and a bit small, there was lots to see and learn as you can tell from the many photos accompanying this review. For instance the reason why this place was chosen was for. It's strategic location in a multi ethnic neighbourhood where the Chinese could escape by the back alley easily. You can also get the book at an additional Rm 30 and Dvd Road to Dawn at Rm 10 to learn more about the famous Penang meeting. Dr Sun didn't spend that much time in Penang but in that short period he rallied many local Chinese and through his supporters managed to collect funds for the rebellion. Penang also sent many men who returned to fight. Dr Sun founded two schools and his followers established many schools in his name.

I really enjoyed visiting this museum. We were delighted to have Khoo Salma herself guiding us through the entire museum and narrating the history relating to Dr Sun Yat Sen’s greater mission and his sojourn in Penang. Really enjoyed and learned so much from the guided tour. For example, I never knew Kwong Wah Yit Poh was founded by Sun Yat Sen, till today! What was also impressive was how intact and well conserved this Straits Chinese house was. Certainly recommend it to all who visit Penang, or those who are residents of Penang who have a liking for history.

Great to set foot where a piece of history of a revolutionary legend once lived and strategized to form a new nation, putting tiny Penang in significance towards that. The rest, they say, is history!

Interesting and informative museum about the life of Sun Yat Sen. In 1910, acting on the immense support among overseas Chinese for the ousting of the Qing dynasty, Sun moved the southeast Asian headquarters of the Tongmenghui party to Penang. When Sun first brought his family to Penang in 1910, the building housed the Penang Philomatic Union reading club. There was a free guide who explained to us the artifacts briefly which made it easier to understand.

As a liberal art student I can be one hundred percent sure that this place is a must for people interested in the history of China. The lady touring us is so professional, friendly and she has written her own book about the history of Sun Yat Sen in Penang. I’m glad to meet her and talked about more details of this period of history. If you are a history lover, please come and see. The ticket costs 10 Ringgit. Touring is for free.

If i didn't visit this museum, i would not know that Sun Yat Sen stayed in penang for 3 & half months to raise fund for revolutions in china, even his 2 daughters studied for 1 year in penang. Malaysian Chinese are the chinese that donated the 2nd most money outside China. Very cheap ticket price, just rm10 with free english & mandarin tour. The guide is an actual historian who gives good explanations. This is a good place to spend 30 min to 1 hour but surprisingly not a lot of promotions about this place & I'm the only visitor there during my time

Visited back in Jan. This building is the house used by the Chinese revolutionary, Sun Yat Sen, when he lived in Penang. The house museum tells the life and times of Sun Yat Sen when he lived in Penang and formed his plans for creating a republic of China from the then absolute monarchy. The house is an amazing piece of history and worth the visit for those interested in one of the most momentous events of the 20th century.

(Translated by Google) I stopped by without knowing, but there was an explanation that the revolutionary Sun Yat-sen was based in Penang, and I knew it was a land of history and history. The building itself is not so large and the exhibition room is only on the first floor, so you will finish it immediately, but you can get a glimpse of Peranakan's life and culture at 5MR, so it is recommended to stop by while taking a walk around this area.

(Translated by Google) The history of the Republic of China is clear, and it is worth visiting The Sun Yat-sen Penang Base Memorial at 120 Datong Street, "Yu Rong Zhuang", is the base that contributed to the success of the founding father of the Ten Revolutions. The Sun Yat-sen Revolution took ten times to succeed. This story happened in Penang, Malaysia. It turned out that the founding father had a high reputation in the world since the first revolution and was also respected in overseas Chinese circles. Therefore, he was repeatedly pursued by the Qing court, which led him to gradually move his base overseas. Penang is very important. One of the revolutionary bases of the country, the founding father has visited Penang many times and has established the foundation of the revolution.
