Beautiful, well-preserved compound that provides a wonderful reference of the Khoo clan's heritage, past and present. There's a museum area on the ground floor that I recommend visiting before you head up the stairs to the second floor - it provides necessary context to a lot of what you'll see. The space is wonderfully ornate, and the entrance fee of RM10 is worth it to look at the main building alone. Highly recommended!

Entrance fee: 10 RM It’s an interesting place to learn how a clan lived 100 years ago in Georgetown and learn some history of the town. The main building is gorgeous, the ceiling, the pillars, the walls, everything is decorated in some way or another. I recommend you to visit the buildings first and then the museum as the last one assumes that you already saw the building. The only thing I really dislike was that the patio of this place is occupied as parking (at least when we were there) It cost nothing to not park in front of your beautiful building.

10$ entrance fee to Leong san tong khoo kongsi. I think it is better to book a tour guide here, which we regretted not doing. There are things missed and not understood if you just wander around by yourselves. The large temple in the Center looks very interesting though!

This place was not easy to find, no clear signs as it was located inside an alley. I had to ask several people beforehand. The building is majestic, the craftsmanship is really detailed and beautiful. It is well maintained, organized and clean too, much better than other tourist designations in Penang. Am glad to be here during my short stay.

A beautiful Chinese temple just off Armenian street. We walked past the entrance initially as the temple is not visible from the street. The temple is beautiful and the decoration is incredibly intricate. There is a museum on the lower floor detailing the history of the building and the clan which added to our experience a lot.

Really worth to visit this impressive khoo kongsi, Rich history fr roof to wall to floor. Very colorful & shining under sun. Surprised by only RM10 entrance fee. 2 row of shop houses @ entrance used to be boutique hotel but was left empty by covid19.

A lovely place to visit when in Georgetown to discover the rich history and culture behind the Khoo clan. The building itself is charming and ornate. There is a ticket price of RM10 for adult and is valid for an entire day. So if you want to shoot the building in different light, you can actually exit and enter multiple times again throughout the day as long as you keep the sticker.

A bit hard to find. You have to go from Cannon street to get in. Entrance is 15 RM per person which is okay considering how nicely renovated the building is and how good the museum underneath is. Worth a visit if you are in the city center.

Hidden in a maze of alleyways in Georgetown sits Khoo Kongsi (Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi Clan House & Museum), one of Malaysia’s most important clan houses. The legacy of the house dates back more than 650 years to the Khoo Kongsi clan from west China and manifests itself in intricate carvings, murals, and timberwork.

Beautiful temple, well worth visiting and just RM10 entry fee. The Temple has a main building then a second museum building which provides the historical perspective of how the temple came to be built here by the Cheah Clan who migrated here from China. There are toilets here, but no Wheelchair access to the first floor.

Many mansions in Penang have been forced to be transformed into luxury houses, some of which have become museums and some have been developed into boutique hotels. However, the Temple of Leongsantong, khoo Kongsi Penang, hidden in the alleys of the old city. The descendants of the Qiu family are now shining around the world, and their college degree certificates and industry achievements are full of several rooms. Surprisingly this magnificent ancient chinese building is rarely known to locals and most of them are overseas photography enthusiasts. Leongsan Hall has an amazing sense of structure, an extremely symmetrical layout and exquisite carving and pottery craftsmanship, which is simply a dream place for architectural fans. Leongsan Hall will turn on lights on the last Saturday and specific festivals of each month. From 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., admission is free of charge. If you want to visit on other days need to pay RM10. Leongsan tong khoo Company is one of the most unique Chinese surname ancestral temple organizations in Malaysia. The Qiu clan is one of the "five surnames" of Fujian people in Penang. Together with Xie, Yang, Lin and Chen, they constituted an important blessing force in the early society. In the mid-19th century, the five surnames established a company settlement on Chulia Street George Town. Each company is centered on the ancestral temple, surrounded by the street houses belonging to the company on three or four sides. This kind of adjacent, close and defensive coname settlement is very rare in immigrant societies. 18, Cannon Square, George Town, 10450 George Town, Pulau Pinang Open : 9am-5pm

This is Khoo's ( a typical Chinese surname) place, a family temple, an ancestral temple and their meeting venue. Not any Buddhist temple. But the display of Chinese building arts is among the best that can be found in the world. If one is observant, one would be able to recognize some features that were introduced during the last major renovation. Slow down and immerse oneself in the serenity and escape from the crowd on Cannon Street and Armenian Street.

Beautiful temple and clan compound. The educational materials in the basement are well done and the temple has been restored well. The history is very focused on male contributions to the clan history, it would be interesting to see some complementary material on the contributions of women to the clan history in Penang.

Fascinating insights into Chinese immigration and clans in Georgetown. Beautiful temple opposite stage, surrounded by clan residences . Excellent museum underneath. Worth at least an hour to take in the museum (suggest visit firstbto get best understanding of history and construction of the temple and surrounds).

This place is beautiful! Superb. So rich in culture and delicate architecture. The silence is priceless! Despite the outside trafic is bad and noisy. Inside those walls, barely hear anything except birds sounds. Inner peace at its best! Rm15 per person entry. Closes at 5pm.

(Translated by Google) It is difficult to understand the entrance, but when you enter the entrance of the parking lot, there is a security guard in the back and there is a reception there. Admission was 10 MR. The temple is famous for its gorgeous and detailed decoration, but the museum on the first floor was also interesting. The Ku Ku family came to Penang 650 years ago and built this temple to worship their ancestors, but you can get a glimpse of the history and old life of the clan.

The only toll place far and wide, where it is not enough to buy a ticket, but you get a sticker that forces you to stick on your clothes to see that you are properly paying. If you are lucky, you will not be hit by a biker or a Chinese in Mercedes (all without a sticker, of course). The temple itself is magnificent; (Original) Hahaha UNESCO? Jediné zpoplatněné místo široko daleko, kde nestačí koupit si lístek, ale dostanete samolepku, kterou Vás donutí si nalepit na oblečení, aby security viděli, že jste řádně platící. (Translated by Google) A Chinese-built temple built as a mausoleum to worship the Qiu family. As you can see from the appearance, the building with its gorgeous decorations stands out, and the pillars and outer walls where the sculptures are densely carved make it an eye-catching mausoleum. The decorations on the roof and the carved animals, which are a mix of Chinese and Indian styles, are as lively as the frozen water that was just frozen. It seems to be somewhat similar to a building in southern Chinese or a building in Okinawa, but if you look at the details in detail from color to sculpture, you will realize that it is unique here. It while monkey sculpture of appearance space of shades using the inside of the sculpture and gold has become a thing to feel the Chinese culture here Penang. This is a place that cannot be missed when sightseeing in George Town, a World Heritage city.

Visited back in Jan. The Khoo Kongsi is a Chinese HQ like building for the clan association of the Leong San Tong clan, whose forebears were wealthy traders from China. The elaborate sculptures and ornamental architecture give an idea of just how wealthy this clan was. The decorative roof of the main hall is adorned with grandiose sculptures which are simply dazzling, especially the dragon sculptures are the corners of the roof that seem above to take off. There’s also a small museum inside the clan house giving a history of the family. One of the best things to do in George Town.

This feels like a stroll in one of the ancient mansion only to be found in China. It is well kept and full of stories. The craft arts on the roof, wall, door and windows show the status of the family and wealth. Entrance fee is RM10. It's definitely worth more than what you've paid.

One of the most famous clanhouse in George Town, Penang. It is also known as the Khoo Kongsi for short. I was amazed by the elaborate decorative and architecture of this place. Until today, still well maintained and retained, it's charm. Inside, you learn about the history of the clan until today's standing in Penang. For only RM10 to enter this place.

This place seems like a convent as we approach. It has a residential complex upfront. Inside there is a museum, a library, food shop, few amenities. This temple is extremely ornate, very well maintained. Inside there is low light, so photographers be aware. There is silence and quiet pervading, great for the eyes and the mind.....

This place is one of the world heritage sites recognized by UNESCO. Lots of history to learn in this place and heaps of amazing craftsmanship n detailed Chinese arts one can appreciate China outside of China. Don't forget to go through the downstairs exhibition room below the main temple as you can learn how Chinese migrants resist to survive in Pinang since their arrival. Totally worth the value of entrance fees of 10 MYR.

We also liked looking at where all the members went to university around the world and what they studied! 15RM pp. It’s a Chinese clan temple. In my opinion it’s not as beautiful as other temples in Malaysia like the Buddhist ones in Ipoh. So no big statues but the carvings and the decorations are very nice. I think that $3 is a bit too much but I didn’t regret spending them to see the temple.

Loved that they have so much written details and preservation of Chinese heritage in one place. My partner learned a bit more about some of his routes and made him feel closer to a culture he didn’t know as much of. I think having a guide who is knowledgeable and we can ask questions to directly would have been an even greater addition to this place, but we still got a lot out of it. The architecture, art with ancient proverbs and explanations were also a highlight.

One of the unexpected places to find a time capsule of rich Chinese culture. A clan village which captured many traditional Chinese art and architecture in a colour way. It's free entrance. The arts are very pretty and good to enjoy. But have to be careful cause it's a glass art gallery.
