If you are exploring Indian cultures in Penang, you must visit Penang Little India. There are stores offering Indian fashion, Indian delicacies, Indian spices, Indian groceries, jeweleries, money changer, till Hindu temple. The location is within Georgetown UNESCO World Heritage Site. To reach Penang Little India, you may board City Area Transit (CAT) bus from Jetty Ferry Terminal and alight at Lebuh Pantai (Bank OCBC stop). From this bus stop, it is only around 1 minute walking distance to reach the entrance gate to Lebuh Pasar where Little India is located. If you drive private car, road side parking is available but is quite challenging. Instead, you may park at MBPP Carpark at Lebuh Pantai, which is just opposite to Little India entrance.

A great place to experience a little of India. There are lots of retail shops selling clothing, souvenirs, food and endless gold jewelry stores. If you find the Penang Famous Samosa place, you must try their Michelin star samosas. They’re to die for. Fresh, crispy and delicious.

A stroll through George Town's historic Little India is a must. This compact area is laid out in a grid-like fashion, much like a miniature Manhattan, with four streets intersecting three avenues. Indian shops dominate the landscape, creating a vibrant and culturally rich atmosphere. Think of Lebuh China, Lebuh Pasar, and Lebuh Chulia as the avenues, while Queen Street, King Street, Penang Street, and Beach Street form the cross streets. This arrangement creates a neat 3x4 grid that's easy to navigate. Within this grid, you'll find several notable landmarks. Be sure to visit the Little India Arcade, located at the bustling intersection of Lebuh Pasar and Beach Street. Also, don't miss the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple on Queen Street, conveniently close to Lebuh Chulia.

A Vibrant Slice of India in the Heart of Penang! Little India in George Town is an absolute gem! Walking through these streets felt like being transported to India—vibrant colors, lively music, and the tantalizing aroma of spices everywhere. The shops are filled with beautiful traditional clothes, jewelry, and authentic Indian spices. I even picked up some handmade souvenirs that are unique and full of character. The food was a highlight—so many street vendors offering delicious treats! I tried samosas, banana leaf rice, and masala chai, and every bite was bursting with flavor. The street is also home to the stunning Sri Mahamariamman Temple, which is a must-see for its intricate architecture and cultural significance. The energy here is unbeatable, especially during festivals when everything is decked out with lights and decorations. If you’re in Penang, don’t miss Little India. It’s a wonderful, immersive experience that gives you a taste of Indian culture. Highly recommended!
