If you want to learn a little of India's culture, then this is the place. Also, in the mornings there are people selling foods. I particularly love the samosas here, you can find it in Lebuh king alley. It is the best samosa I have tried in Malaysia. THE BEST!!

The place also known as Market street. There are variety shops. The Indian Muslim Restaurant that serves chicken Briani, prata etc. Notice mNy herbs shops as well. Great place for shopping traditional Indian clothing like saree or kurta. Normally during Diwali the place really crowded. If you in Penang you should stop by.

In the golden eve, I strolled through the street, Penang's Little India, a cultural treat. Colors danced around, vibrant and bright, A symphony of sights, a mesmerizing sight. The aroma of spices filled the air, Aromatic secrets, stories to share. I wandered through stalls, a treasure trove, Hues of silk, bangles that spoke of love. Temples adorned with intricate art, A sacred aura that touched my heart. Devotees' prayers, a harmonious song, In this sacred haven, I belong. A feast for senses, every step I take, From savory delights to sweets to partake. Dazzling lights and music's sweet embrace, In this enchanting world, I found my place. As twilight descended, my heart felt complete, In Penang's Little India, a memory sweet. I'll cherish this night, forever it'll shine, A magical journey, this soul of mine.

If Penang itself is like stepping back in time, then Penang Little India is like stepping into another continent altogether. All you need to do is turn the corner and bang, you are suddenly surrounded by colour, food, music, moustaches, incense, garlands of flowers, and a slower pace. Hire a driver to bike you around in comfort.

Ambience looks cozy but can be improved with better ventilation & air condition. Cleanliness of the table n chairs needs to improved.Waiting period was too long. Chicken briyani & chatti rice taste good. Its more like a homemade cooking. However the Chili chicken was not up to expected taste, way too sweet.

Always a secret vendor selling illegal fireworks during Chinese New Year. Find the stall through several convoluted directions by Indian shopkeepers, intended to confound any undercover official. No pain, no gain. Along the Main Street are the traditional money changers who have varying quotes, the best rate is always found somewhere in between.

What not to love about Little India? This is our first night walk through Little India. Most of the shops close at about 10pm. Don't forget to try the bubur kacang. It's been in the business since 1946. It's a 5mins walk from where we were staying in Lebuh Chulia, so parking was not an issue. But during other times if we came to Penang and checked in else where, we'd only drop by if there's parking. Great experience of Indian culture - from food, clothing, jewellery, accessories, prayer items and many more. We usually come here for the food, while the girls shop for henna and accessories. Don't forget to try almond milk and herbal tea. Since this is our first time visiting the place at night : Pros - not as hot as in the day time. Cons - many shops were about to close.

Penang Little India is a vibrant and colorful enclave in the heart of George Town, the capital of Penang. It is a place where you can experience the culture, cuisine, and music of India, as well as the history and heritage of the local Indian community. One of the main attractions of Penang Little India is the Sri Mahamariamman Temple, the oldest Hindu temple in Penang. The temple is adorned with intricate sculptures and carvings of Hindu deities, and is a popular place of worship and pilgrimage for devotees. The temple also hosts various festivals and celebrations throughout the year, such as Thaipusam, Navratri, and Deepavali. Another highlight of Penang Little India is the food. You can find a variety of Indian dishes, from spicy curries and biryanis to sweet desserts and snacks. Some of the best places to eat in Penang Little India are [Kapitan Restaurant, which serves delicious tandoori chicken and naan bread, Woodlands Vegetarian Restaurant, which offers a range of vegetarian and vegan options, and Sri Ananda Bahwan, which has a wide selection of South Indian specialties. You can also try some of the street food, such as samosas, vadai, and banana leaf rice. If you are looking for some shopping, Penang Little India has plenty of options as well. You can browse through the shops selling sarees, jewelry, spices, handicrafts, and souvenirs. You can also find some of the latest Bollywood movies and music at the video stores, such as Lakshmi Video Center. You can also enjoy the lively atmosphere and the sounds of Tamil and Hindi songs playing from the speakers. Penang Little India is a must-visit for anyone who wants to experience a different side of Penang. It is a place where you can immerse yourself in the rich and diverse culture of India, and also learn more about the history and heritage of the local Indian community. It is a place that will leave you with a lasting impression and a memorable experience.

Little India in Penang is like a vibrant tapestry of colors and flavors. The streets are alive with the scent of spices, and you'll find a friendly community ready to welcome you with open arms. It's a cultural treasure trove where you can savor delicious Indian cuisine and experience the magic of festivals like Diwali. For expats, it's a lively and heartwarming slice of home in a foreign land.

One of the fascinating sides of Georgetown is its multiculturalism and walking in the small neighborhood of Little India immerses us precisely in another world. Chrysanthemum spiders delicately dressed in colorful necklaces, many restaurants that will attract you by the flavors that emanate from the kitchen, let yourself be tempted by some Samosas, Tandoori with Naan, a creamy and fragrant Lassi-Mango, strolling through the streets animated by Indian music and much cleaner than in India.

It was nice spending time over there. Witnessing the colourful atmosphere. Getting to taste delicious Indian cuisine. Buying traditional outfits from a wide range of choices. Only downside, it's difficult to get parking in a such a compact place. And, most of the time, the place is crowded.

Offcourse all the south Indian fashion clothing, jewelry , artificial jewelry, restaurant and grocery stores available here, best place in penang where you will get all the Indian products

  • 3/5 amie k. 3 months ago on Google New
We got there quite late, around 8pm, on a Saturday. Some of the shops already started to close, but there were plenty of people, motorcycles, and cars converging on the same single road. A hazard. We had to keep an eye out for vehicles rather than what the shops were selling. Kinda ruined our shopping experience. In comparison to "little India" in KL, the prices for gifts and souvenirs in Penang seems to be more expensive than KL.

As the name says, Little India is a small location in Penang where Malaysians can get all Indian products imported from India. If you are tired of Malaysia food and would love to try Indian cuisine, Little India would be the best place. Also if you need groceries from India Supermarkets like Jayam, Subham and Revathi are the best place to get them.

  • 4/5 Gaythri N. 1 year ago on Google
We went there during the Deepavali and were shocked to find out most shops were closed. It's a different situation in Singapore. Nevertheless we managed to get a great lunch and some nice pics. A few days later we returned and it was a lovely experience. A slow vibe. Street carts selling vadais. There was a profusion of jewellery, gold-covering jewellery and clothing shops. People are friendly and will give you directions and speak to you if you ask them or engage them in conversation.

Living up to its name "Little India". Shopping and food heaven! If you looking for anything related to indian communities such as clothings, culinaries, snacks, kitchen utensils, groceries etc, this is where you should come. From small humble stalls to restaurants. Everything within walking distance. Only parking is a problem during prak hours and holidays.

A good walk around and you'll see alot of buildings in disrepair. It spoils the area alot. There's some homeless people who are really old and I felt they should be cared for and not sat in the heat. It has some really good places to eat and a street food place selling really.good food.

One of the highlights of Little India is the array of shops offering a treasure trove of fabrics, jewelry, and traditional Indian goods. It's a paradise for shoppers seeking unique items and souvenirs. The food in Little India is a delight for the taste buds. Gorgeous temples, very rank smells. I suggest wearing a mask here to protect you from the air here. The open sewers smell particularly foul in this part of the city.

Absolutely love Little India, you forget you are in Malaysia and we were taken back to our travels in India, the smells, the colors and noise. We used the supermarkets to buy products we brought in India, Himalaya toothpaste, spices and insence.

Went on weekdays during school holidays. The main lack here is find a parking. For me it takes hours,( actually took 30min to get the spot) others than that was fantastic. The food the culture and not to mention the weather 🌡️ kinda 🥵. Wear hat or bring umbrella 😝. We're looking for chai tea, nasi kandar imigresen, candy laddu samosa. We bought all of we can😊

Wonderful street food, cipati & curry or samosa snacks and onion bhaji from many vendors. There’s banana leaf thali restaurants and many other shops and places of interest. A great walking, shopping & eating experience.

A hodgepodge of Indian culture! I love all Indian food I have enjoyed here, from hawker stall to restaurants, everything is good. Btw just realised that authentic Indian stalls are definitely different from mamak, it's good to know. There are also some stunning Indian clothes that are truly affordable selling here. (But I'm not sure if it is the cheapest if compared with other places) Can try to buy one or two pieces if you are interested.

Vibrant..colourful..and a feast for the eyes and palate. A multitude of shops selling their goods and food. Prices vary from shop to shop. Parking is difficult due to the narrow and one way streets so on foot/bike is the best way to explore the wonders of Little India. Highly recommended to visitors.

One of the best Little India around Malaysia, this place maintained the old classic look with the streets. The shops are a little less on variety however it has all the things you regularly want here varying from jewelry to Indian prayers things. Definitely worth a visit if you're dropping by in Penang.

This is actually "little India" in Penang. Shops remind you of Southern part of India and place has so many shops related to Indian clothing and materials related to worshipping. You can get here everything from Groceries, sweets, Indian food, South Indian clothes, cosmetics and what not. Worth visiting. Pro Tip- try bargaining!

Ananda Bhawan, food is horrible here, paid RM13 for soy meat curry, dry white rice and uncooked cabbage. Food was totally tasteless. No variety to choose. Totally dissappointed with their horrendous services! Such waste of money! Don't ever go to this place if you want value for your money.

Nice rushy place... Parking is difficult to find... You can park on road side before entering to Little India or there are few parking outside it. Good to walk around and do shopping for Indian styling clothes, have Indian food, famous restaurants... We have dinner there.

I was expecting something great because of little India's listings on "top things to do" lists. As I arrived I found a lot of very cheap souvenir stores, plastic jewelry stores & some clothing shops (didn't check quality) after 5 minutes I've been through the street and went on.
