Let me start on the good part. Breakfast buffet was nice, clean, and just delicious. Staff were very helpful and attentive, they appeared to me as guest, as always working hard making sure guests are assisted. Facilities however are horrible. Guest lift and service lift took forever to arrive. Parking area was dark and incommodious. Room seemed quite worn out. Fabrics (towels, bedsheets) had quite a foul smell. 4-star is definitely far stretched. Maybe we were just not lucky. But we're definitely not returning.

Horror two nights disoriented. Arrived on Saturday at 535PM for check-in. Surprised JR Suite Room still not ready. I do know Penang is in PPN 3 Covid recovery. But 5++PM room still not ready? HR and House Keeping what are you guys doing? After minor argument they manage to give the room about 6PM. Room on Level 21. What's my take? Room layout is OK split room and small living area. Living area lighting is bit dark; while the room is bit better. AC function great: cool. TV limited channel. WIFI internet is total junk. Toilet is super small. Basic toiletries. 2 PCs towel. Tub and rain shower is in bad condition. Hot water is OK. Sunday breakfast at Coffee House was EPIC disaster. NO SOP COVID. People were super crowd. Pity the host seriously. Food is average. Did not tried much as people were super crowded (8AM - 9AM). Management please do something. Do not let your Coffee House get into the COVID HIDE warning system. Lift Service Only 2 of 3 lift function. EPIC Horror was NO SOP. People crowded more than 4 pax at all times. Sometime can see over 8 people in the lift (different / not family). Kindly see you CCTV recording. Please take some prompt action. I took the stairs from level 21 just to go to the lobby. Horror. Lunch at Coffee House Price is pretty cheap. Decent food choice (menu) and food tasted OK. Minor improvement needed to the food presentation and taste (this place can shine). Other Generally front desk staff needs to be train. They were pretty in-competent. I do not blame them. Pity them get bashed by other guest. I do blame the HR and Key Management of this Hotel for this matter. Not sure what you guys doing. Overall? Many area require improvement. First the implementation of SOP. Honestly no one even check for Check-in or Vaccine if people walk in to the hotel. People can walk in easily and go up (with out access card). Do not get me start with your parking. People park from car park can easily access the floor with out check in. Horror safety. Front desk needs further improvement. SOP for lift needed urgent. For Cafe in the morning; I think you guys can use SLOT based to manage the crowd; simple. Your house keeping and maintenance team is friendly when they makeup my room (next day). Energetic team. They deserve some credit.

Old old hotel. Needs much maintenance. Maybe 5 to 8 years ago would have been fabulous now it's old dirty broken tiles here and there. Bed was comfy though. That's a 5 star. Great hospitality and customer service too. Only place old.

4D3N stay felt like I was at home. The warm staff and the service they rendered were simply from different planet. The staff, from Main Entrance to Reception until Restaurant are all super warm. Rarely experienced in most, similar rated hotels I used to stay. Room & Service deserve 6-star rating. God Willing will return.

Not up to the mark, seriously not a 4 star hotel...quite old and needs refurbishment. the room is not so spacious as pictures. Washrooms need maintenance (grit) and dirty. Location of the hotel is quite nice. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Marts, kfc and massage centre near by . Bathrooms are not good at all although shower gel soaps and shampoo provided. View from the window was amazing . Also our room next to us continuesly made noise (laughing loudly) even upon complaining at the front desk nothing happened. Couldn't sleep at the night because of the noise.

Pictures on booking websites do not reflect the state of the hotel. The outside of the lobby is unmaintained and old. Decor is slightly dated. The lift is painfully slow and excruciatingly inefficient. Once we entered the room, we found it was far from well-maintained, with cracks and stains on the walls, a dirty aircon, and a pretty alarmingly gross bathroom. TV was old and did not turn on, The shower head was malfunctioning, the bidet pipe was rusted and there was no hot water in the room to be found. However, positively, the view from the room was good, the buffet breakfast was value for money, and the service on each front was decent.

The hotel room itself was good and comfortable. The toilet looks a little old, but water pressure is good. The parking though, is very limited. And it stinks. The lift waiting time is terrible. 1 lift is broken when I was there, leaving 2 lifts 20+ floors of people. And there is no mask enforcement. Breakfast is okay.

Full with amenities and courteous staff. Rooms are clean and adequately comfortable. Air con is rather cold even set at 30°C at night. Hotel has a Buddhist prayer room, which is a huge plus point. The Cafe, in house restaurant, serves reasonably priced meals from RM 9 onwards for hawker food delights (a must to try in Penang)

Before booking this hotel I already surveyed and roughly knew that this hotel is old and not in good condition. For me I don't mind if it looks a bit old. First time I stayed in such a hotel and I can't accept such conditions even worse than any 1 star hotel. No joke. Therefore I have to give a sincere review for those travelers who plan to stay here. 1. Condition: bad and broken. Water basin is cracked. Water closet is in bad condition 2. Bed mattress As hard as you sleep on top of a solid floor. What kind of mattress a 4 star hotel provided. 3. Air-conditioning Is one of the factor I can't even tolerate. After shower I will still sweat inside the room. Thermometer already adjust to lowest scale and u can't even few the air blow. In additional is not cold air but warm. Get to call receptionist and technician made some adjustment and it only increase 10% of fan speed. 4. Hotel breakfast After staying then get to know berjaya hotel now practice vegetarian meal. Entire breakfast only 1 beef dish available. And variety is less than what you can imagine. Trust me if u enter cafe and look at the buffer breakfast. U will leave the cafe and look for others food. THiNK TWICE if u plan to stay here.

Booked a family room, 3 day 2 night stay. Parking: Available around the outside of hotel. Basement parking - Not cashless system (yet?). Paper ticket. Validation must be done at reception for guests each time for hotel exit. Basement parking quite rundown. Lifts from basement to hotel lobby require long wait times. The option to walk up the side sloping pathway is actually faster but not wheelchair friendly. Room: Family room. Not as spacious and layout not as depicted in website photos. Plus point was that each bed came with 2 pillows and a bolster. 👍 TV: Many channels to choose from but most were fuzzy and not clear. Many plug points available 👍A few can be found behind headboard of single beds. Bathroom: Shower head water flow not adjustable. Quality of shower gel and shampoo can be better. Towels were old and stained - should be renewed. Good that the toilet had attached bidet 👍. Hairdryer not readily available - Need to call housekeeping to send it to room. One of the super single mattress out of the 3 was sunken in. Plus points: Friendly staff and accommodating. Two convenience stores near entrance of hotel - 7Eleven and Happy Mart.

It isn’t worth a star! Super old hotel, bad service. It ruined our honey moon. We booked a room for couple and when we checked in, they gave us a room with 2 single beds?! We wanted to change to another room or at least they should have had any solution for us however the receptionist didn’t even look at us and said: only have that room! What kind of 4 stars hotel is it?! The facilities are too bad. Old room, very bad quality bad ( I felt like even the bed at dorm is the way better), still have hairs from last guest on that. I couldnt sleep all night cos the bad made all my body pain. The AC is super noisy. No toothbrush, tooth paste, old bath tub - the painting was falling out. It was terrible experince for us. Totally ruined our trip. Please don’t waste your money. Stay at another place!

Overall, the experience is good. The service is good and the hotel staff is pretty attentive and friendly. Location is good, got many food options nearby. As for the room, I kept hearing sound from the bathroom and don't know the reason. I also saw a big ant on one of the pillow. In future, would appreciate it if the hotel can make sure there is no insect in the hotel room.

The staff is nice to upgrade our room to junior room. BUT there is insect egg on bed!!!!! Even on the wall. MosquitoES flying inside the room. Super old furnish and dirty. Very creepy too. The door was forced to open before like there is house breaking. So we decided to check out after seeing the room. When we were to check out, the same staff at the counter does not seem surprise at all. I believe there were a lot of similar cases happened. Don’t recommend at all

The room itself is not so bad just look old. The toilet is very loud when turn on the shower. the washbasin tap also loud and the water pressure is too much. The reception staffs are ok, my only problem is with the housekeeping, need to call multiple times to get hand and foot towel. And during my second stay need to call twice to request to make up my room, despite calling them twice they still didnt come to make up my room. Other review said the elevator problem, and yes even to this day the elevator still broken. Is it caused by covid? I dont think so, even before covid the experience is not that pleasant. This is a 4 star hotel but it feels like staying at a cheap rundown hotel that has a very poor housekeeping service.

First of all. The pillow and the bolster we got had a bad smell. Literally bad smell. The room oh my god roaches everywhere. The lift was really slow. Before this the parking was free but now you had to pay for rm4. You are so lucky this review can only rate 1 star if this review can rate zero star. I’d be the first to rate.

Looks very 'antique'. 3 working lifts for the whole building. Very slow - with the COVID SOP, y'all could finish breakfast while waiting. Room I got was just upsetting. Toilet got no ventilation. The whole bathroom was a big turn off. Bedside lamp doesn't work (basically the whole sockets beside the beds didn't work). The peeping hole at the door makes you feel like you're blind, can't see a thing.

The room is spacious & comfortable. But the basement parking, there's no signage to stairs to the hotel lobby. Quite confusing. The staff very polite especially the hotel attendant, very efficient & helpful. The checked in process could be improved so that hotel guest do not have to wait for quite some time.

Its a good hotel. The hotel need to improve on its check-in process as it takes too long to be checked in. The staffs were friendly and helpful. Room was clean except for the toilet bowl which had a clump of hair in it. It was a GROSS sight. Air conditioner, shower and heater was functioning well. Basic toiletries available. Food was decent. The hotel has a basement car park available.

Don't even bother with this place. Rundown hotel with bad service. Service required not provided and we were kept waiting repeatedly with no follow up from front desk. We kept having to call to find out and until the end, no resolution. Very dodgy location. Toilet has a inbuilt bidet, no spray gun. Need to get into bathtub to use shower. Air conditioning is weak. 100% regret falling for the "price drop". Not even worth the price we paid.

We stayed there for a night on 15/16 Dec 2023. I left one of my most precious items in the locker and didn't realised it until the manager in charge called me up and informed me. They have handed over my belongings safely. Really appreciate the honesty and sincerity the team has. Thank you so much.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights and I enjoyed the food and service. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the vegetarian dishes were delicious and varied. The hotel also had a ‘nice’ pool and gym that I used during my stay. However, the room was a bit hot for my liking, and the air conditioning was not very effective. I wish the hotel could improve the cooling system in the rooms, as it would make the stay more comfortable. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good vegetarian option and excellent service, but be prepared to deal with some heat issues in the room.

Service is quick and workers are alert all the time. Nan, one of the waiters was very pleasant and fast in clearing the used tables. I like the buffet spread which is healthy and wholesome. The best vegetarian breakfast in Penang!

My recent stay at this hotel was an intriguing mix of highs and lows. The room, though a bit dated and showing signs of wear, didn't quite meet my expectations. Stains on the bed sheets were a noticeable downside. Yet, the culinary offerings managed to steal the spotlight. The vegetarian buffet was a gastronomic delight, and the room dine-in options exceeded my expectations. The flavors were rich, and the food truly stood out. What elevated my experience, however, was the impeccable service provided by the staff. The housekeeping team was diligent in ensuring cleanliness, and every member of the staff, especially Nantha, the bell service man, displayed warmth and professionalism. While the room's condition left something to be desired, the excellent service and delectable meals added a distinct layer of satisfaction to my stay, creating a memorable experience overall.

Me and my husband stayed here last month for our anniversary staycation. The staffs were very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and clean as usual. The parking was spacious as well. The service undeniable was great. BUT, we quite disappointed with the breakfast. Me and my husband very excited for the breakfast since we came here last year if not mistaken. Last time we came there were many choices of food. But now the owner switched to vegetarian style. For vegetarian maybe it’s okay for them. But for us, it’s not okay anymore. Maybe you can at least prepared some chicken dishes at the side for non-vegetarian? The staffs said owner is vegetarian so he wanted food all must be vegetarian. I thought the owner is the one who follows guest’s taste and comfort, but this is the opposite. And yes, because of breakfast issue, me and my husband won’t coming here again maybe. Apart from the breakfast issue, we are satisfied with the other services.

the reception service is excellent as the staff are very attentive and polite. had a comfortable stay at berjaya penang hotel as the bed is large and pillows are soft. aircon are adjustable hence, not too cold or too warm. however, decorations in hotel room looks outdated and the TV is old. the walls near the bathtub are dirty with several black spots. no hand soap and toothbrush provided for us upon arrival. overall, it’s a 4/5 ratings for this hotel and highly recommended as the cost are reasonable.

I stay in this hotel for 3 days. The room is quite old but okay for me just to sleep. They provide old lcd tv that had problem and sometime the image not appear just blank black screen. There was solid blood stain of women period on the toilet bowl from day 1 until my third day, they dont properly clean up the toilet and washroom. Toilet got no bidet at all. They dont provide additional shower gel eventhough after 2 day. I need to request. Change towel a bit smelly. The view from my room is nice as city and sea view. Overall the hotel is over rated and ovet price. I stay only because of work, if not i will not come again.

The room is clean and nice. Just the room a bit small. Its nice for only two people. All the staff was really nice especially the housekeeper for level ten, and Nantha for helping me and my baby put luggage in our car. But overall, all the staff there was really nice. Just the breakfast is dissapointing. Its a vegetarian breakfast. So for 5 days, all i eat during breakfast was only bread and cereal. I already know their breakfast is vegetarian because i saw someone google review saying the owner is vegetarian. But i thought when someone already comment about the breakfast, the hotel will changed the breakfast menu but instead no. So the thing that was not okay is only the breakfast.

Things that need to be fix: The rooms are kind of old and dirty. Pillows have stains on it. The television are small hard to see from your bed. The towels in the bathroom have stains on it too. Bathroom floor was dirty and even the bathtub. Best of it: The hotel staffs are friendly. Convenient stores are near the hotel. Have a great view of Penang. The beds are comfortable.

I don’t know how this hotel is getting all the 5 star reviews. Toilet was rusty and so dirty and worn down. really horrible. You didn’t need a card to access the lift to all the floors. Breakfast was average. The restaurant is vegetarian. I had a nice view from my room. But I will suggest booking other hotels when you visit Penang. So disappointed.

Arrived here around 3PM, and the room wasn't ready until 4.30 PM. I ordered a twin bed junior suite and was given a double bed king size when I entered the room, Then I was told to go downstairs to the receptionist to change into twin bed room, and they said wait 20 mins as they're trying to see any available, it was so packed with guests and they forgot to inform me.. After waiting for 20+ minutes, I asked again to receive news that no twin bed was available that day. Room was big, clean and tidy. Air conditioner was well maintained, furniture was clean and lovely. But the wall was so thin you can hear people flush down the toilet from beside. One thing I was disappointed the most was the smell of the bed sheet and pillow cover. The smell of old, long long time kept inside of a cupboard smell, that was so strong, it kept me awake throughout the night, I can't sleep at all!

Though the hotel itself is old, the Berjaya team compensates that with their hospitality and service. Their breakfast buffet was all vegetarian and halal, but as a meat-lover myself, I enjoyed it so much. I totally forgot their names, but everyone was so helpful and proactive: they will offer help the moment they see youe luggages. Overall, it was a nice experience and I'm hoping to come back next year.

The comfortable accommodations include flat-screen TVs, WiFi, and safes. They all have desks, minifridges, and tea and coffee machines. Adding separate living spaces are junior suites. Children under 12 are free to stay. An included perk is a breakfast buffet. There is also a laid-back restaurant/bar serving cuisine from around the world. Additionally on-site are a fitness centre and an outdoor pool.

Good for business purposes. Close to shopping mall. However the operating hour start almost at 11am. Have a bus stop close by so can go to anyway in Island easily. By the way the swimming pool are small. Not enough in the pool can continue bath tub in the room.

Provided this room rate, the stay and cleanliness is okay. Everything is just fine, the staffs are responsive. Poor sound proof, I can hear the elevators, chatter and laughter from next door. It's still a good place to rest. PS: Bring your own slipper, toothbrush and toothpaste, the convenient shops in the building are not operating 24hr.

One of the oldest hotel in Penang. 4-star. Rundown, parking is a bit difficult. Room aircond no complains, but bathroom showers n bidet is poor. Check-in/out could be managed better. Waited 45mins to get checked in, also due to the weekend bumper cheap hotel price.

Room has multiple plug sockets. Very convenient. Upon entering the room, toilet had a cigarette-like smell but the staff quickly attended to it. Very responsive. Swimming pool is adequate. But administration may need to increase cleaning frequency during peak period. Front desk staff are very friendly. That's a big plus point.

Food is a good price, affordable buffet lunch with a variety of menus. But you need to contact them from time to time as they only offer buffets once they have a large group of customers. RM 25/pax..

Nice location, rooms are nice and comfy with old style furniture and beds which i really like. Staff are less friendly I've no idea why. The breakfast buffet was great because its affordable (RM20) and have variety of food and also taste nice. Parking is underground but theres only ONE lift to the lobby or rooms from the parking. Imagine the small lift and everybody's queueing up from parking lots. But from lobby to rooms there are 3 including the one from underground. Overall, a good stay and will make a comeback if improve their public relations. Ps: you have to go to the pool for the view from top, its breathtaking. You can see many places from that pool level. Pool is small btw. My room was standard room.

My overall impression of the hotel is acceptable for pricewise. The staff are friendly and helpful. I was impressed with the housekeeping service as my room was cleaned and new towels given without me informing them.

Very poor customer service. Luckily there is someone to help out. Look for ms. Stella (front desk) very helpful person. 5 star for Stella's help.

2 star hotel at best. Room soundproofing is bad. I can hear the next room turning on and off switches. The lift is horrible. only 2 lifts functioning. Be prepared to wait 20-30 minutes during peak time. Insufficient parking lots.

The staff was very friendly. There was even a welcoming drinks. Everything is great except that some of the stuff like the lamp frame are already rusty. But so far it's all good & working. Nearby Shell petrol station and 7-eleven. Very strategic. Very affordable for a hotel this functional.

Luckily we got a best rate at rm153/night with breakfast via agoda. For me its a nice hotel if you plan to spend outside around penang at daytime and dont really use the facilities. Building looks old but the rooms looks like they had refurbished, clean and in good condition. Staff also very helpful. 7e and mart just near to hotel lobby.

A great hotel to stay when in Georgetown, although a bit rundown but the room is still commendable and the staff is polite helpful. Walking distance to Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon Mall (shopping malls). 7 eleven is just next to the hotel main entrance.

Not worth the price we pay, which was RM3xx per night.. with the same price, i can stay at a 5-star hotel in other places. The only good things about this hotel are the location and the staff services, especially the bell service. Bad things? A lot.. the lift was bad, only 2 working lifts for all occupants. Sometimes need to wait for more than 10 minutes. The facilities was another thing, basic thing like iron and the board should be there at this room rate, but the reception said that no iron was available when requested. Another thing, not so many hand sanitizer available at the premise, the management need to put at each level (near the lift) and also at the reception counter. We requested a family room with 1 queen & 2 single beds, but the room be ready in 2 hour when we checked in at 4pm! So we just took the 4 single bed room. The furniture is from the ice age maybe, but this one is not the major concern. Please la Berjaya, dont be too stingy.

The place is a little run down. We booked the junior suite but I must say it was kind of disappointing. No doubt we didn't spend much time in the room but we expected it to be slightly better for the price they charge. If it wasn't for the other hotels to be fully booked we won't have stayed here. The shower room was old and rusty, the furnitures had a weird foul smell, the TV was so old and small, the housekeeping only came at around 4pm the next day. We left our room at around 6am and expected the room to be cleaned when we returned at around 2ish but it wasn't. And ya 1 more thing only at night people tend to move their furnitures around. So if you don't mind the above please be my guest and enjoy your time. It was my 1st and last time staying here. Sorry unless you all take my comments seriously and do something about it.

Title: A Pleasant Stay at Berjaya Hotel Penang for Thaipusam I recently had the pleasure of staying at Berjaya Penang Hotel, and my experience was nothing short of delightful. The staff's warm and welcoming demeanor made me feel right at home from the moment I walked through the door. Their attentiveness and genuine hospitality truly set this hotel apart. Lovation wise, Every year my family and I would book this hotel for Thaipusam as it a walking distance to the temple except for the year of 2021 -2022 as it was during Covid. The view of my room is absolutely breathtaking. Othe than that, the location, it provided a peaceful retreat while still being conveniently close to the city center. The proximity to key landmarks and public transportation made exploring the area effortless, adding an extra layer of convenience to my stay. The service was exceptional. From prompt room service to helpful recommendations for local attractions, their dedication to guest satisfaction was evident throughout my stay. The breakfast staff were attentive and friendly, consistently ensuring that every guest had a satisfying start to their day. Breakfast there was absolutely delicious and the attention to detail in presentation and quality of ingredients was evident, showcasing the hotel's commitment to providing a memorable dining experience. Special thanks to staff Nantha(Bellman) for my check out day had made me and my family very welcoming back again to the next time. He was really an outgoing person towards to everyone. Overall, my time at Berjaya Hotel was marked by excellent staff, impeccable service, and an ideal location. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a enjoyable stay.
