Hong Kee Bamboo Noodle Lebuh Campbell Penang

Restaurant

👍👍 Michelin 2023 eatery. Like how the noodles taste and it's chewy springy texture. The charsio, sauce and seasoning are well balanced. Love their wantan (hidden below noodles) which is full of prawn meat. Also love the pleasant surprise by the presence of big pieces of fried lards in the noodles. Nutm... Michelin 2023 eatery. Like how the noodles taste and it's chewy springy texture. The charsio, sauce and seasoning are well balanced. Love their wantan (hidden below noodles) which is full of prawn meat. Also love the pleasant surprise by the presence of big pieces of fried lards in the noodles. Nutmeg drink is refreshing. Fast service and the price is affordable. Please maintain the quality.

Great place to try. This place has an excellent authentic Chinese local food. Especially the BBQ duck. The rostered duck skin is super crispy. I have not been able to find such BBQ duck dish in HK, Australia and Singapore so far. Do visit this place early otherwise, you will have to line up for tables at lunchtime.

One of the so called famous restaurant to try in Georgetown. The wan tan noodle is unlike the usual ones you had at the hawker, they’re more Hong Kong style with it being a strain thinner. In my personal preference, I did not know how to appreciate it, though that it’s too thin. The wan tan itself is marvellous. That is too die for. You should really order up a bowl of wan tan soup. They’re just awesome.

First bite brought back sweet memories of a hearty bowl enjoyed at Mak's Tin Hau, Hong Kong. Indeed, the noodle was springy as how HK wantan mee is made. Sadly, that is the only process learnt from their HK Tai Lo or perhaps the output of the imported China machine that sits in its glass cage. The noodle flour lacked body and eggs, while the absence of "kan siu" alkalinity was welcomed, it missed adding any flavour to the dish. The much raved about wantons by the foodies showed once again social media promotes the mediocre. Best described as flour encrusted pork mince in wanton skins is my kindest take on them. Such immediate disappointment makes one yearn for the real thing made fresh by Ah Pak on Jalan Sahabat KL. My bowl was intentionally devoid of its Char Siew, a most criticised item online, and it must have become the feedstock of its Siew Bao, out of the plate into the oven. Waste not, want not? The tall lanky server can be mistaken for a retired roadside thug who collected parking levies, presiding dauntingly over any diner who hesitates to pay for the above average priced bowl (RM6.20+6%SST). Then again, this odd couple maybe the brains behind this tourist trap, taking over from the gentle looking granny that strolls out occassionally. Yes, HK's Young and Dangerous have set up shop, partly thanks to the misguided housing policies of the corrupt State. A better average bowl of HK style mee found at Canton-i at Gurney Plaza, Penang or Loong Sifu Happy Garden KL.

Traditional wan tan mee shop with variety of side dishes. Let me break it down, wan tan noodles is somehow not to my liking, a strain thinner than most places around. Personal preference perhaps. Wan Tan is super awesome with stuffing. Crab roe noodle is very good. One dish must try is the deer meat fried with ginger. Heavenly and definitely a to-die-for. Prices slightly on the higher range abit. Recommended for all 👍

Famous with its Handmade wantan mee and it taste really good. Their mee are so Q and different from wantan mee and other place. The only bad is the price and the portion doesn't match. The char hor fun is one of my favourite and I was surprised with the portion. The other small dishes like dumplings is their chef choices. Good to have a try. Price is reasonable. They also sell some local biscuits at the entrance and also recommended by the locals. It is quite hard to find car park during peak hour. So have to park somewhere nearby first and walk there.

We couldn't find 'Hong Kee' at first, but that is because they have changed the shop name to 'Tok Tok'. I am not sure if the owners/cooks were the same. Noodles are ok (maybe a bit lacking in the 'egg fragrence', but the plus point is the lack of alkaline taste!), soup is good. As usual, soup that was immersed with the noodles is not as good, the soup of the dumpling soup we ordered tasted better. They were generous with the wanton / dumpling fillings, but if you are looking for an uncut piece of prawn in any of them, there isnt any. We also ordered additional bowl of roasted pork + char siew, both were disappointing as the roasted pork is not crispy and the char siew should have been roasted longer. All iced drinks (herbal tea, barley) were too sweet. Egg tart was decent. Staff were attentive and friendly. If we come back again, we probably will order just the noodles and maybe try their other pastries.

Really good food and amazing noodles. Don't miss the wonton soup, the squid in BBQ sause, the fried rice and combination pork. The service is really good and really easy to order for tourists. Don't forget to try the in-house pastries as well!

A nice place to eat the original wonton mee. They boast of the bamboo pole method of making the noodle but machines has taken over the task. There is a separated glass partition that show how the noodle is made. The noodle is indead tangy and there is no hint of boric acid. It is excelent that this noodle is pair with soup instead of dry sauced serving. The soup is very good and the wanton is of good size and I suspect they add dried flounder fish to the wonton which is excellent. The char siew is of average standard as it is a little bit hard and dry. The stew mutton is a let down as it is dry and hard. Since Penang is known for other food, this place offer a decent meal of wanton noodle. Parking is tight around this place. The food is a little pricey.

The place is clean and tidy. No air-conditioner but it didnt feel warm at 1.30pm. The dried version may be too dry for some. The soup version is preferred by my local friends. The selling point is the noodles are all freshly made within the restaurant, the traditional way. If you like fatty succulent char siew (sweetened roast pork) then you can order the side dish separately. Overall very good experience and will recommend to my friends visiting Penang.

Didn't know they are "Michelin Selected 2023". Ordered the Signature Tiktok Mee and the Fried Belacan Chicken Wings. Food are slightly above average, wouldn't say superb. If you're around the area, can try it out if you want.

The shop is located in downtown Georgetown. At the entrance they are glass windows where you can see how the cooks prepare the bamboo noodles. There are multiple options in the menu to choose from prices are accessible.

The wan tan mee is really great and the noodles are wonderful! Prices are decent, but the portions are not very consistent.

You can watch the staff making the noodles! The noodles are fresh and delicious. Recommend to order it dry and add on the extra dumpling soup which has different dumplings and very flavourful. You have order via QR code on the table.
