Delish traditional Malay food in a funky setting. after walking around trying to figure out what i wanted for lunch, i came across the brick cafe and so glad i did! Simple menu, with a couple of western choices if you wanted a change. I went with a Lemon and ginger iced tea. (Very refreshing and sugar on the side meant i could enjoy with out the added sugar) And a clay pot penang laksa. Not the laksa im used to, but so delicious and fresh. Highly recommend!

This is muslim friendly cafe, they have halal certificate. The bricks served local cuisine and western. We've tried their western food. It was superb and delicious. Definitely will repeat again. Only thing is,a bit difficult to get place to park.

Beef burger Thicc. Mushroom soup wildly hearty. The price to portion to taste is proper homerun. Man this place is a gem together with Otto, literally tucked away in a rather quaint alley. Noticed the owner was very attentive in describing the menu. Halal foods Free WiFi (literally one bar of mobile line) Toilet is clean clean. It's just a comfortable place to be.

Me and partner had a wonderful experience in The Brick Café. Because the weather forecast wasn't that great we searched on Google for a cooking class in the area and found this place. On the same morning we walked there and met the owner Lisa right when she was leaving for the market. We were very happy when she spontaneously said that we could cook Chicken Curry later that same day. It was awesome, we did everything ourselves and Lisa helped as throughout the way. A lot of cooking, some explanations, good talks and a few hours later we where ready. Our homemade Curry was awesome, we ate it with selfmade roti and even made ourselves desert. It was a 10/10 experience for a small price. Just go there and ask if she has the time to cook with you, it was awesome.

Lisa and Remy’s Brickcafe is one of my favorite places to eat GOOD FOOD, to listen GOOD MUSIC and to chill in A RELAXING ATMOSPHERE! Lisa is a very friendly person from Germany who can teach you to cook the best Malay secret family recipes and her husband Remy will deleite your ears with his LIVE MUSIC! Great singer and guitar player! My boyfriend and me are vegetarian and Lisa made us Vegetarian Mee Goreng Mamak, my boyfriend is still trying to figure out how a German Girl can cook Malay food better than actual Malays 😁 The drinks are also really good, I recommend The Brick Special. Most of the times I come here I order this drink!!! Try it!!! Finally, if you stay in LINCON’S BACKPACKERS you will get 10% discount!!!!!! So if the place is already cheap you can get the food even cheaper!!!

The Brick Cafe is a true hidden gem, located 1 min walk from Love Lane they serve amazing traditional Malaysian food and fresh tasty drinks aswell. I tried the vege curry which was the best I've had so far in Malaysia. The atmosphere is super chill, and it's tucked down a nice quiet lane, definitely recommend! you can even take cooking classes here if you so desire, I would definitely go back!

Stumbled across this little gem last night and hands down it’s the best eating experience I’ve had in Georgetown. The owners are friendly, the food is great (reasonably priced) and the live music made me stay far longer than I’d planned for. It’s 100m from the main food street. You won’t be disappointed.

If you want to try high-quality local food or some western fusion food for your kids while you are in Penang, check this place out. Bonus: You will be welcomed by either the lovely owner or Pixie, the real boss (an affectionate cat with a lot of love to share). Cherry, on top of the cake, the menu is constantly updated. So don't be shy to visit this cafe once in a while.

The owner playing guitar during we arrive there. Playing cool music, the food is good, the size of the restaurant is small. Not much people and easy to find a table for the delicious dinner. The drinks saved my life. Will be there again next time.

We had already read good reviews about this restaurant, but it was so delicious! this was beyond all our expectations. The food is made with soul and love and everything is incredibly tasteful. The owners are very friendly and if you're lucky Pixie (the cat) will also steal the show. A great experience, you won't regret eating here.

If you're in to 70's rock this is the place to hang. Cool pictures, posters, album covers and song lyrics cover the walls. Loved the playlist of songs while we were there. My first thought was "ok, cool space to listen to music but the food can't be that good. Ordered a char kway teow and was thoroughly impressed! My wife was also very pleased with her chicken wrap. Will definitely return in the future!

Nice looking place with friendly service. I ordered chicken noodles for Rm 8.90. The food took some time to arrive but it was pretty good. No wifi though. When I asked for the bill it was 10% higher, then I noticed at the bottom of the menu in small print 10% service charge. I really hate these sneaky stealth charges. I liked this place but I won't come back

I got a burger and my partner got fish and chips. Two massive plates, all fresh cooked, with great sauce on the side for chips. Really great western and local food here. Even the juices are big. Some restaurants give you a small glass for 12 RM. This place gives a huge glass for 8. Our waitress (I'm sorry I didn't catch your name!) was friendly and gave some great recommendation for our time in George Town. Highly recommended.

We came here twice - the food is amazing and the prices are so good! It's also within spitting distance of The House of Journey, the hostel we stayed at while in Georgetown. Do yourself a favour and come and try it!

Tried the vegetarian fried noodles and it was absolutely delightful. The place itself is delightful, laid back and has a wonderful positive vibe. And one of the few places that serve good local dishes but veg. versions of them. The place is adorned with rock band posters, lyrics and art works. They also provide guitar lessons if you are interested. A really cool place to be. Recommended.

I had a cooking class with Lisa. The class was very casual and personal. She's easy going and very easy to talk to. The 3-hour-session (incl finishing the meal) went by so fast, because it really was enjoyable!

I did a cooking class at the Brick Café with my partner and we loved it! Lisa, one of the owners of the Café who did the class with us, was so nice and friendly. We came by in the morning very spontaneously and asked to do a cooking class that day and she organized everything. So, thank you for that! We cooked a curry (a family recipe) with Roti (Malaysian ‚bread‘) and as dessert Ondeh Ondeh. She explained everything very well and let us do everything. She really took her time with us. It was fun to cook and chat with her! The best part of it all was to eat the delicious food in the end. So tasty!!! Thank you again Lisa, it was really nice to meet you! And I would really recommend that cooking class to everyone!

Lisa and Remy run a wonderful cafe here!! We did a cooking class with Lisa, and cooked Malay style vegetable curry (also there was a chicken option), Roti Jala and Ondeh Ondeh (coconut dumplings) for dessert. The class said to be 2.5 hours, but easily went over 4 hours - with all the chatting and laughs cooking with Lisa felt like cooking with a good friend! She is very knowledgeable with Malay ingredients, and we feel we have learned a wealth of cooking information. We loved the cooking class and meeting these wonderful people. We highly recommend to contact Lisa for a cooking class, or even just to visit the cafe for some delicious food! :)

An out of the way but wonderfully surprising eatery in George Town. The traditional Malay food on offer was exceptional, ridiculously cheap and the atmosphere very relaxed. A great find and well worth a visit.

Not sure why this place has such good reviews. I had a beef burger, which was definitely a frozen, factory made cheap burger, wasn't good at all. GF had the chicken burger which was thin and tasteless. A few fries on the side and all for and very high price, bet their profit margin is very high! Edit to reply to owner: Well, that's a professional reply! You're right I don't KNOW about your profit margins the same way you don't know about my eating habits...but I can take an educated guess by the fact you were serving substandard food at inflated prices. When we visited there was nothing which stood out as traditional Malay cuisine (which was the whole reason for visiting your establishment), in fact some wasn't even available... The same way as I didn't say anything about the meal in person you are unable to take this criticism on an online review. The way you have handled this I'm glad I didn't say anything now as I'm sure it wouldn't have ended nicely!

The Brick Cafe is terrorizing this densely populated neighborhood with extremely loud rock music every night for hours until midnight. I stayed in a hostel very close and I moved to a different hostel because I couldn't stand the constant noise. It must be terrible for the locals who can't just move somewhere else. Dear reader, please don't support this cafe and consider going to a different place. Thank you.
