👍👍 The address on google map was wrong. It should be the same as the church of the Assumption, as the museum is located next to the church. So if you take a grab, set the destination Lebuh Farquhar, George Town, 10450 George Town, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia People often mention Catholic, museum, history, Penang, Museum, Malaysia, visit,

Tickets: Free to donate When walking, I stopped by and visited the Penang Diocese Museum. Next to the Penang Diocesan Museum is the Assumption Church. This museum has been open for about 6 years since its opening in 2018. The exhibition area is a two-story building with good circulation design, which provides a complete introduction to the history and current situation of the spread of Catholicism in Malaysia. There are more than a hundred exhibits collected inside, some of which are more than 100 years old. According to Malaysia, it is a typical multi-ethnic society and an Islamic country. The three main ethnic groups, Malays (Islam), Chinese (folk beliefs) and Indians (Hindu), all have their main beliefs. Christianity is relatively weak. This visit here provides us with another perspective on the common culture and historical development of Malaysian society. -------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------- Tickets: Free to visit, free to donate When walking, I stopped by and visited the Penang Diocese Museum. It has a lot of interesting information, although parts are hard to understand if you're not a Catholic as they don't explain the religious/ doctrinal terminology. It could also be better at explaining the historical context of a lot of the information, to allow for better understanding. It also makes you a bit uncomfortable being watched so closely as you go round the museum. I can understand when you are in the room with precious artefacts, however when you are in rooms which just contain information boards it feels a bit unnecessary to be under such surveillance.

We were late and arrived after 16:00 and of course did not notice that it was open until 4 p.m. Please be careful when visiting this museum!

Catholic Museum. Very informative - lots of exhibits to help you understand historical timeline of Catholic faith preaching in Malaysia, and has some nice collection of beautiful church artefacts for viewing, a must visit itinerary for the religious. No entrance fee is collected, but do Remember to donate a token sum - no obligation, to help them maintain this little gem and to fund their aircon bills. And don’t forget to visit that holy shrine of Mother Mary (located right in front of the Assumption Church next to this museum), ask the friendly curator for exact location. Sincerely pray for peace, happiness & good health - your prayers will likely be heard & granted by the Holy Lady, refrain from asking for good luck or wealth cos there is no short cut in life 😉😌

It was very very long Catholic History. But it most sad part for this museum was the sacrament stuff. Some were still nice and yet not being use. Specially the Latin Missal were the one really make me feel sad to look at it. It's a nice experience if you want to see all the old stuff for church used.

A very nice place for Roman Catholics. It shows the history of the diocese, as well as quite some exhibits of sacred objects. Not very large in scale, but it is impressive to see such a museum in Penang.
