Baba Guest House

Guest house

๐Ÿ˜  Awful place. Not recommended. Unfortunately I arrived during school holiday and everywhere was fully booked. After seeing some of the reviews, I took a room here and what a terrible experience. The room is tiny, the beds are children's old rusting metal cots, creaking and sighing to be thrown out.... People often mention room, beach, clean, good, price, guest, house,

Great value for money. Clean and quiet and right by the beach. Rooms are clean, people are friendly. Shared bathrooms are kept clean but they really need a bit of work - there is a bit of a smell and a hook on the door for a towel would be great. Oh, and mirrors too. Beds are not amazing... Still it's a place I come back to.

It was a really homely guest house. The owner is really friendly and attentive, he lends us umbrella when it rained outside and may for us to sit on the beach. The beach is literally in front of the guest house so it is a good place for those who loves the beach.

Awful place. Not recommended. Unfortunately I arrived during school holiday and everywhere was fully booked. After seeing some of the reviews, I took a room here and what a terrible experience. The room is tiny, the beds are children's old rusting metal cots, creaking and sighing to be thrown out. Razor thin bedding, and the smell of sewage disguised by mothballs. Outside noise is very disturbing and dies out after midnight. The owners have a large limousine which left running on arrival late night sent exhaust gas into the room. I could not sleep with the beds, noise, smell and car fumes and left early next morning. I crossed over on the ferry and got an excellent budget place 400 metres away for the same price. This, along with a dump I booked, called El Gordo, in the Philippines (again based on some of the reviews) rank as the worst stays of my travels. Dont book here.

It was really nice to be there :), super kind staff. We had the room with share bathroom. And for that price it was good. The guest house is near the beach. You can borrow pads for free and take it with u on the beach.

The best guesthouse in Penang. Overall the place is very clean and the owner of the place is vey helpful and friendly.. the service was superb. I just love the place and it's a good place to stay plus is very convenience. You can just walk to go to the beach, restaurant and the night market. I will definitely choose Baba Guesthouse for my next visit to Penang.

    - NO sea-view & price : That was specifically what I thought I paid for. Owner was nice but said he didn't know why the booking company said sea view rooms were available. Owners should be specific about the unavailability of the room so guests can cancel free. They sent a vague email about my requests being difficult to meet and that was it. My requests were quiet spot and parking, assuming sea-view advertised was still available. All room prices - RM 100. For two people, itโ€™s value for money i.e. RM 50/each, but not RM 100 for a solo traveler. Another RM 50 deposit will be returned to guest once keys are returned. - Free parking : Only 2 available - 1st come, 1st serve basis. Check in time is 1230, checkout 12 noon.i checked in at 1.20 pm Was lucky to get the 2nd (which looked a little bit like a graveyard, and didn't move the car after). 3rd cars and after need to park along the street food area if they can find any parking - usually full. - Wifi : Worked adequately - Room โ€“ Basic twin bed dorm-like room, old โ€“ but clean. Brought my own kettle, coffee, fork/spoon and water after reading other guest reviews. They provide towels on request. Thereโ€™s a stool and small table. Beds were clean and comfortable. Blankets are thin, towel material but air conditioning worked okay, was adjustable and wasn't noisy compared to the neighbors. Windows facing the neighbors are better closed. - Shower room: It's nice not to share and water was hot. Old stains (non-removable) on the toilet cover and sink, they could have covered for aesthetic purposes with some floral sheets (hopefully not blood stains). But overall, toilet, shower and sink were clean with cheap toilet paper provided. - Noise: Neighbor was using loudspeakers with terrible karaoke singers, wailing their hearts out during a party - pretty much the whole afternoon โ€“ thank goodness they stopped by night time! So bring your earphones and music to muffle /dampen any unwanted sounds during your zzz hours (just in case) or just run away to the end of the beach! -Location: Beach, Food, Public amenities: Literally 10 steps away from the sea front. Right in front thereโ€™s a nicely decorated street food store (most left corner) that allows you to read and have a nice drink or snack in the afternoon without being overcharged excessively in a tourist place. Paid beach activities include horse riding (RM 40 for ~ 15 minutes โ€“my guess), paragliding, boat rides and sun burning on chairs provided by the local vendors. The beach is not too dirty considering there is only one trash bin along the whole stretch that I saw any way. Water should be safe enough to swim in during low tide. The sands are slightly rocky rather than soft and silky. Night time is more alive โ€“ more food stalls and Night market are opened, but be sure to survey the seafood prices as they can vary. Some of the waiters in Sham Beach Cafรฉ were inefficient, little offish and got me the wrong order. Owner though, wanted to make up for it, wasn't rude, the shop price was slightly less ridiculous for street seafood. Massage parlors โ€“ seem nicely decorated, but double to price of those in local residential areas. On Sunday mornings, 99% food stalls are CLOSED - so it's not easy to find breakfast. Bring you own or order on Grab-food/Panda. One open shop sold cereal for RM9 and other bread/sandwich based breakfasts for RM18-RM 30 --- TOO much for any local (average local breakfast (RM5-15) . -Tourism: If you walk along the main road โ€“ 3 types of shops โ€“ souvenir, halal food and massage parlors. Again survey prices of all shops as they may differ in quality and quantity for the amount you pay. If you like antiques, Yahong Gallery is worth a visit. Some are reasonably priced and the artist is very good, although lots of the products look very old. Bring enough cash if you are a foreigner (two ATMs in the area, one was spoilt), most shops don't take credit or debit cards.

The staff is very polite and caring!! ๐Ÿฅฐ Water, beer, tea and coffee can be bought there. The location is good, the beach is very close to where you can ride a scooter. The room has good air conditioning, good washing facilities. The house is clean. You can also rent a motorcycle here.

Fantastic place to stay. Very friendly family, great room, great location, easy to get to on the 102 or 101 bus. Get off at โ€˜buy the seaโ€™ use google. Tip go through the mosque all the way to the back gate. Baba is next door. Yes you hear the prayer call every morning.

This is a 5* guest house. It is simple, basic and spotlessly clean. Situated 20 meters from the beach and run by a sper friendly family, Baba's is a great option for budget travellers. Reasoable rates, laundryservice, cold drinks and coffee available, what more could you need? Add a wood floored communal area which is a social focal point and you have the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the company of other voyagers. The house will even lend plates, glasses, umbrellas and beach mats. Wonderful!

They have wooden room for 2 upstairs but we chose the aircond room at the ground level, fit for a group of 4. Nothing special but nothing bad either. The good thing is the beach is within walking distance.

Booked this spot over Christmas after a string of hostels. It was great to have a quaint room to ourselves directly across from the beach! Run by a very sweet family. Nice place for privacy away from the noise of Georgetown.

Room was a bit of a throwback, but totally adequate and suited the price. Had A/C and one of those bathrooms where the whole thing is a shower. The family was very nice and welcoming to us, even though we booked the day before and changed our plans the day of. In only a couple minutes you could be out the door and across the beach to having your feet in the water. There's a wide public access point to the beach from the street, so it's no hassle.

Bad experiences , kids not allow , consider adult , not accepted , their have big room not offer online, when not allowed their offer big room with diifferent price every day . When you travel far a way, arrived with no room. What do you feel, it out of budget , when no online booking , normall price will be higher . They all prefer ricer booking thier room with budget room .
