I would say we were fortunate that we were treated nicely when we were here for my mom's after operation stay at Wad A. The security guard was very friendly and helpful despite the strict rules to enter the ward. One needs to do saliva test in front the guard. They even sell the test kit at the table counter. My son however was not allowed to enter as he was under age so he had to wait outside. The guard offered to look after him and we were so grateful for that hospitality.

It is a really horriable day for me. If i could give a 0 star definietly i will. My mom when to fisioterapi dept so she told me to took an appoinment w the doctor at the Ortopedik & tromologi dept. So i when, there and explained to the person he asked me to go A & E. But the card there is write clearly anything come back without anydelay. The malay guy in the counter there please open your bleady eyes and read thru that. Defienetely you will get back what you have done. You can talk to people in a nice way when u come to service line you should be nice to the patients if not resign ur job n go back to ur home. Don't ever treat people like this please have some humanity. Please take an action if possible. And change the attitude pelase. Pain is pain nothing wrong if you be HUMBLE to the patient. What type of government hospital u r running? You think all patient come here for time pass? We had a hard time n you are here to serve us thats the reason u are having the job here. If you can be this much route, please think your own self because we believe in KARMA u will get back what ever you have done.

actually I very happy when I starting follow up government clinic and general hospital. I found that many change on manner of stuff in government clinic and hospital. Talk and advice nicely. of cause will meet with emotional stuff. but just ignore it. Coz the look is definitely like that can't change. Time spend on government hospital will take longer queue no need to pay in high cost. what do u think? is equal right! So that's normal. every stuff also doing their job. they busy attend patient. Go thru every detail, proper checking. but If possible can increase the speed the process of cause it is better for us.

Parking spaces insufficient and the staffs are really rude. Had a terrible experience. Hope the management would retrain all the staffs on customer service. We could do better let’s be humane and not treat your patience with such rudeness.

I note the differing opinions about the GH. Let me share my personal experience. In the last ten years, I have frequented the Neurology n Cardiology departments of the hospital multiple times. Never once was I treated badly. The nurses do face a tough task handling the big number of patients. The doctors treating me try their professional best. I find the air conditioned waiting areas to be v tolerable. If I come across as sympathetic to the nurses n doctors, you better believe it. Look, it is easy to whine. Fact of the matter is they are providing free medical service. Given the severe economic downturn caused by the pandemic, more n more common folks will be reliant on government medical care. Consequently, long queues are understandable. Give government doctors and health workers a break, seriously. Waiting patiently is a feature of private hospitals in Penang too. I have waited for two hours to see a popular private practitioner before. It is what it is. If the waiting at government hospitals is unbearable, perhaps it's time to walk the talk by flexing your credit card. Note: Long wait at Eye, Urology, blood testing department n the pharmacy is a daily occurrence. Go in at 8 am n be prepared to hang around until 11-12 noon.

Very bad service. Cruel staffs. Keeping the patients waiting from morning till night time without any update for the beds. No information at all about when the beds would be available but still threatened that if we leave the hospital to clean up the feaces in the wheelchair after whole day waiting, we will lose the bed if we are called. Will give negative 2 stars if possible!! Horrible experience and simply a humiliation to all Malaysians.

Most of the Indian lady securities there really rude, and no manners. During working hour they are listening to songs loudly. If you ask them direction they will respond with a immature manner. Really disappointed with them during the period my father was admitted there. They should be nicer to us and understand what type of feeling we are going through as that is a hospital not an amusement park to jolly around.

Oncology department. My mom just had her appointment today. And the staffs are clueless on what they doing. My mom supposed to be reviewing her memogram result with her doctor but the doctor don’t know she had her memogram that my mom had to ask the doctor on the result update. And all the staffs were all rushing in attending the patients because it’s almost 5pm. Until one of the nurses said out loud “tak payah balik la mcm ni patients ramai” so unethical and not professional at all. Pengarah GH Penang should do something. Kalau tak boleh bekerja dgn berhemah, buka klinik sendiri.. you are treating people that in need those people don’t want to be there either. Please be kind and respectful to your patient.

I hope there is some improvement can be done in the hospital. Have been ringing my phone to one of the department ard 10+mins twice but none anyone had pick up. And the staff in the first line is rude. Was trying to ask her something and quickly change the line away. Plz respect ur people if u seek for respect too. U r human and we also r human. What if someday if u or ur family being treated like this too? Think at another side of way to think not only for you. I understand u might be tired of ur working and we do also have studies and works too, everybody tired. Not like this treating people in a perfunctory way. Thank you.

To the nuclear unit, thank you for the friendly treatment of the doctor and nurse in charge. Came 2 times, very good service. From beginning to end. The doctor answered all the questions from me and my husband. It is usually very difficult to ask the doctor about the procedure that will be done on us (why do it, for what, why do you feel this way etc.) *not in this nuclear unit. The patience of the doctor and their explanation to some extent removed the patient's anger. We also understand that many patients cause doctors to not answer all their questions. But if we don't ask the doctor, who else should we ask so that we don't get wrong information. Thank you nuclear unit.

If i can give 0 star then i will. I'm very disappointed with GH. My wife was detained in the ward on February 9, 2020 at 6am because of the ruptured water. Then on February 10, 2020 at about 6am she was admitted into the delivery room. At 6.30am I went to the delivery room for about an hour with no news. Then I decided to take a break in Surau. Until 10am there was still no news about my wife. So at 12 noon I decided to ask the guard in front of the delivery room. Then a Chinese doctor came out and announced that my wife's aperture had reached 8cm and in 2 hours everything would be settled. I came back at 1.30pm until 2pm still didn't come out. My wife came out at 2:30 pm. In very bad condition. Imagine being 8 hours in the delivery room and the doctor telling me that my wife's wound was severe. I was very curious when see at the sheet detailed about my son was delivered at 12:23 noon. But i just imagined everything would be fine later. Then after a few days I noticed my wife still couldn't sit comfortably. At first I was probably expecting maybe because this is first time . But after 10 days it was still the same and she keep complained that her wound was very painful. The clinic at my hometown still says the wound is still ok. On day 11, a chinese doctor at the clinic said the wound was not well-stitched and that the cut was not like it had been. But my son is only 3kg why the cut is so long. Then I decided to go to the Mahsuri Clinic in Jitra. After consulting with a specialist Rohana's doctor she said the wound was congenital and therefore the swelling was indeed good but it would take a long time to recover and not be pretty. She suggested opening the stitches and sewing them back. Hey GH staff do you think my wife is a doll? Doesn't it hurt? She needs to make a secondary stitch. ****. I will make a complaint to you for negligence and for lack of consideration. Yes I forgot another GH staff case where they failed to tell me or my wife that we should take our child to a ward the next day to get a BCG injection because the letter had been provided. What a great worker this government is. I didn't said it to all staff. I mean some of the workers who are acting up and down. Just imagine you in my wife place. So I would recommend to friends and relatives out there if you have more money so just go to a private clinic or hospital. In my opinion a percentage of this kind incidents are very low i think. I am so sorry for my beloved wife for having to suffer twice. I hope you can consider it to improve all your staff. I understand that cost is very cheap. For me up the price to 100 or 200 would not be a problem for parents to pay. We just want the best for our family. For my wife. I can see she had suffer a lot.

Poor Management, Poor Respond, Fake statement which does not represent data from ministry. I have been here for quarantine due to coming back from high risk country-Saudi. No doctor come and meet us F2F and its only deal by phone. Some errogant nurses which incharge woman quarantine center on 3jan giving warning and use inappropriate words to the us. Have yet to receive respond from PRO. Dato Dr. Teoh will need to really check what is going on with HPP staff.

My mother and mother in law has been using penang gh services for years since they are both retirees. With the limitation of funds and staffing, we cant help but understand some of the shortcomings in a govt run hospitals in Msia. Most of which is still under acceptable professional medical standards. However, i have to write this review to make known the awful, entitled and couldn't be bothered attitudes of the nurses in their Pain Clinic, Bangunan Acc. I had three unpleasant experiences with their nurses, especially when it comes to their procedures. They dont seem to know their own procedures, one staff says one thing and another says a different thing. Not only that, the way the nurse spoke was very rude, entitled as though this is what it is, just take it or leave it. I even overheard the nurse ridiculing me to another when she puts me on hold. Incredibly unprofessional, grossly untrained and most of all without any compassion or empathy towards their patients and clients. I have been to various clinics in this gh, none of the staff or nurses behaved as bad as the pain clinic nurses. They are the worst!!

The service here needs improving, hospital check-ups are not cheap so bad service do not help especially in our case. There will always be good doctors and nurses in a hospital so it is not fair for them when the actions of a few tarnish the hospital name. We made an appointment with a nurse to have an electrocardiogram (ECG) checking. The nurse gave us a date (Tuesday) but our family told us that the ECG test can only be done on Wednesday. In order to be sure, we called the hospital and spoke to the same nurse regarding the ECG testing day and she told us that the ECG test for the hospital has been changed from Wednesday to Tuesday so there should be no problem. However, when we got there on the day of the test, we were told by the same nurse that the ECG test can only be done on Wednesday. It should come as no surprise that everyone was very angry upon hearing that. We had taken a take a day-off from work to go to the hospital which is pretty much a waste of our time. Please get a knowledgeable nurse to sit at the front desk for appointment handling. We were very close to scolding that nurse in front of the public which would have been an embarrassing sight.

The doctors explains well and they have good surgeon. Nurses are very friendly and helpful. Service is very good. But the securities are very rude. I was standing aside and noticing a group of securities. They was talking very rude to people, even to elderly people. They should know the way of approaching and explain to people. Talking within themselves so loud and playing music so loud. All young girls and boys, literally they are unfit. Security department is most important job no matter where isit, don't choose unfit people for this kind of job. Thank you.

Kindly please do every single day about ethics to staff nurse at GHP (emergency dept - green zone). Please talk nicely and professional. Do not be too sarcastic. Without mentioned that a lot of patient there I also knew the facts. Thanks to MO who talked nicely via phone regarding procedure that she was done to the patient. Originally, the wide seats had to squeeze two cars. It was hard to help the patients. The guards were the same. People had to park at the oku seat and they had to park to the side. It was not possible to open the door next to it. Shouldn't oku have benefits? How can there be such a treatment. . Very bad service ever! My father was sent to this hospital in seberang jaya hospital because ct suspected lung cancer or tb was going to the hospital for a puncture examination. Asked my father to go to the hospital on Wednesday and said he had to be examined the next day. Yesterday, the test report said that lung cancer and tb are negative! In the middle of the night said to draw blood to operate what is the reason to operate?! Why do you keep drawing blood?! The attending doctor doesn't explain. I don't know if it's an intern to explain! Until now still don’t know what’s going on!Said there might be a tumor next to the ribs, but still need to make sure!Excuse me, is this how your government hospital works? Keep procrastinating! Please be sure to see my message and give me an explanation!

The emergency staff was quick to respond. The payment counter staff and registration was ok. However, having to communicate with a different doctor on each day of my visit at different times at the ICU was a little disconcerting. Most doctors were polite and professional like Dr Chua, Dr Desiree, Dr Yip and Dr Mimi. But Dr Gyiatri was rude and arrogant. Even the nurses were more friendly than her. The pharmacy downstairs looked rather chaotic and there was a long queue of people waiting to get their meds. I felt sorry for them.

The rash decision by the incompetent Penang GH pengarah DR Teo who has closed the OPD department in Hospital Pulau Pinang and converted it to a covid ward has made it extremely difficult for patients to continue treatment. There are many abandoned buildings in Penang Hospital which can be used as a covid ward instead such as the abandoned maternity ward. I don't understand why the Incompetent director has to sacrifice the outpatients department. Here are some photos of the OPD department that has been converted to a covid ward. As you can see, there is no social distancing. Staff are expected to have their showers in the toilet. All the medical equipements are old and outdated as the hospital director has placed all the new donated equipments in their first class wards and brought old malfunctioning equipments to the OPD ward We are all extremely disappointed with the Penang GH pengarah's decision. The doctors have to shower in the dirty toilets. The management has attached a miserable shower to the faucet and expect doctors to take their bath next to the toilet bowl

Just wanted to thank the doctor who attended to our request kindly and patiently on 11-Sept-2021 at about 17:30-17:50 in the evening, despite the stress he's going through to care for the patients - we missed the chance to get his name, so just wanted to drop a thank you note here in hopes that he and all the other kind hearted medical personnel will be able to see that their work is much appreciated.

Poor communication between Clinic and hospital side, clinic ask to go hospital and hospital ask to go clinic... Clinic arrange to admit at Sunday, when we arrived hospital say need to do swab test, and swab test need to be done at clinic side. But clinic only operate at Office hours which is Monday to Friday only...communication?????

Penang GH blood bank accused a healthy person for banning to contribute blood donation forever with no proven. Volunteers ask for body check up to prove what is the reason for banning but the person in charge refused. That's the reason why GH penang always received bad bloods or not enough bloods because they are not professional in this. The doctor just judge the book by its cover. Work with own emotions. The banned is forever with no proof, such a ridiculous acts.

My father was admitted to the hospital on 13/8 and stayed in the 6-person air-conditioned ward for 29 days. My father was incompatible with and rejected the uric acid medicine, which led to Steven Johnson. The nurse and head nurse in the ward were very good and did not require family members to stay and take care of him. Yes, there are many specialists and they are kind. Every time I talk to my dad, they listen patiently and slowly. They are also very caring. Every time he comes to check my dad, he holds his hand and reassures me that everything will be fine. He will be fine soon. He recovered and was discharged from hospital to recuperate😍🫰👍 Having said that, parking is indeed very rare. It takes many rounds to get a park. I hope it can be improved. The government please pay more attention🤣😂

Kebanyakan staff tak memberi layanan yang baik ya. Ini di EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT. Its your responsibility, its your choice to work at hospital so do the best lah. Why need to show your attitude infront of the patients.. tak senyum satu hal. Then tak boleh nak tolong patients bangun sekalipun? Why ya. You make them become worse. Please change your attitude. And be PROFESSIONAL

Neuro Dept need to buck up! Doesn't even deserve one star. They just don't respect patients's time. Got an appointment for eeg test for my mum, on the very same day received call from neuro department that appt date was postponed to a later date. After the test, another appointment was given to see doctor to review the result. On the appointment date, waited for more than an hour, and was told that the appointment is postponed to 3 months later. WHAT'S THE PROBLEM? I hope the pengarah hospital would look into the department 's administrative system.

Parking is a huge problem here . Got multi-storey covered parking space but it's a one building in itself. Not connected directly to the hospital. Have to walk out a bit to the blocks/lobby. Doesnt even have a covered walking alley from the parking space to the hospital itself. Have to come super earlyyy for parking. Oncology department is a sad looking shed like building. There's no designated waiting areas/seats for patients. Patients were scattered around waiting outside. Some were sitting at the curb to be called inside. It's a disheartening view bcs theseeeee are cancer patientssss T_T. I can't imagine if it's raining.... hmmm

I appreciate GH , because most of the medical are free . Paediatric department they are the most kind doctors ever! While ENT ear department the Indian security guard name Hafiz. He has the worst attitude. Sooooo RUDE! He scolded me loudly just because he wanna show his bossy attitude! He is sooooooo unreasonable ☹️ I could not stand his attitude he thought I'm just nice to bully so I ask him back, why must you talk so rude? Do you even have a heart of love? 🥺 Then we both argue a little. Guess this old man feel ashamed and dare not even answer my Q. We had a hard time and you are here to serve us thats the reason you are having the job here OR you are here trying to show OFF YOUR BOSSY ATTITUDE ?! Show some humanity! Not happy with your job? RESIGN AND GO HOME! At the end, the doctor at ENT they are really nice and understanding. They are very polite and helpful. Oh well, maybe that guard is just not educated. Won't blame this old man 🙄 hopefully he met a gangster and talk like the way he does, let's see what happen ! Pleaseeee... be kind to people. Where is the love ?

Hmmm..I'm a patient who lived in ward for a long period (more than 1 month) , so I think I can voice out for both the patients and healthcare worker part. 1. I read through the comments, mostly given less than 3 stars bcoz of altitude problem/ unprofessional / wait for long time in pain. 2. From the patients side, I'll say the truth of most of the comments are true. Because I really saw how some staff treat the patients in rude, eg: critic the patients when they are disable, ignore their call of help, some kind of bully. 3.From the healthcare worker side, I tried to put in their shoes. I really saw HO(houseman), who are very scare of their boss (MO/Specialist) while duty,I believe that this must be cause by there are bully exist among their workplace. Beside, I saw there are some of the patients, also very rude to them. I also saw one real case who scold the staff nurse very loud in ward before leave. These might be the reasons of why they are lack of regard/cold to patients, bcoz they don't have place to make complaint to for the patients who bully them. And someone say, they are in service line.. others I dunno, but for me, their jobs is treat you healthy, not to serve like babysitter/ maid to you. If you don't appreciate nvm, but dont bully the workers without any reason. 4.For the long hours wait issues, I believe that this is not the problem only occur in Malaysia. If you hv read international news, you will notice that even Singapore also have to wait min 3 hours for small cases. Here to educate : In hospital, will have green, yellow, red zone. Green is safe zone, means you still can walk/move/in consious. Red is in harm/ coma, which needs immediately support/treatment. So, there are many thousands of people per day approach to the hospital, in the end, you will still receive the treatment, and dont worry they wont treat you till die, bcoz if they do so, their license will be gantung, then just to be patient and wait. 5. For staff don't care patients issue, this I stand neutral. I do believe that many people do not know in GH, you have to take care yourself/ you must have a family members who can take care of you for basic stuff if you are disable, bcos there dont have enough staff. For example, if you can't eat, can't brush ur teeth, how you expect the nurse sit down beside you and just take care of you one person? Do you know some patients if you want them to finish the food..especially elderly/ OKU/Child, it must take very long time. And there are only min4 max 5 staff nurse to handle over 40 patients. If it's really busy I can understand, but I will also saw there have nurse, sitting in their room while duty, patients ask for help bcoz of pain but get scolded... In the end, I hope KKM(Kementerian Kesihatan) can more educate public about the procedure / basic cooperation needed from patients family, how to relief of pain/ basic understanding of some medical terms/ treatments. Many citizens are lack of medical education. Secondly, I do hope healthcare staff, actually you can change some tone/ words of your speak, I know you doesn't meant that, but if you saw a normal OKU nearby roadside, will you eye-rolling to them/ talk bad words to them? I do believe you won't and nature of human-being are kind. And also, if workers really feel uncomfortable/ bully by people/ feel not worth doing your job bcoz of underpaid, pls voice out.Nowadays hv social media, you can stand out for your ownself. Lastly,I do hope patients/ consumers, pls stand into others shoes, their workers are help you, they have to face thousands of people per day, millions of people in their life, between these people do anyone really appreciate them from the bottom of heart? If you received help from other people, you definitely will at least say thank you to them, but I saw many people after cured/ recover n discharged from wad, no much people say thank you to those who save your life.. Actually hospital is also a workplace, there are many back side that I can't finished write in this note, overall, hope we can understand each others.

Hope the state and federal government can look into the upgrading the ward facilities, I believe we as taxpayers should deserve a better registration and queuing system and medical service. The building is total old and run down. Lift is under maintenance and old. Ward fans is not working. But the doctor and some nurse are caring and very professional. Perhaps with a better ward, will be a perfect condition for all people.

WORST security guard at Wad C8. Let others with same skin color go in and stay 24 hrs inside even their patient is not OKU and can even move by themselves..can take bath and walk to toilet while i cant go in even my husband is OKU and cant do anything without help. Nurses also not approachable, rough, frown face and rude. ( not all but mostly) patient keep calling but pretend never heard, black face when the patient ask for help to clean the a** after pooping to change diaper. Let the patient wait until many many many hours only do. Worst!

WAD A2 HEMATOLOGY This ward has total 28 beds. There are 5 zones which can stay 4-6 patients per zone. DR Chew is the core person of this ward and all guardian are required to wait outside when everytime he visits the ward. Weekday 2 visit round by him (AM & PM) while weekend only 1 visit (AM). Based on my mom, she never talk to him during the consultation time. His team consists of 4-5 medical staff as his assistants and one staff takes in charge of one zone. Hence , this is the summary of the floor map and their team member. The only thing need to bring up is lack of patient care. I ever saw once there's no medical staff (doctor and nurse) on call and sitting at the counter during midnight. It make me wonder do they really left patient to take their own risk if emergency. Compliments to all UOM training students and going to be the formal nurse. They are dedicated to attend the patient very well. To be honest, they are the only sunshine in this ward.

On 26th Sep 23, my brother sent my mother to emergency department at 9.40am because she has severe chest pain. Fortunately, my mother managed to get immediate oral medication for her cardiac problem. After that, she had to wait until 6.00pm with no doctor come to check her because she had been put at the corner in the emergency room. The complain was why after left my mother at the corner and nobody tell the cardiac doctor when he come to check the condition of my mother. When I start questioning, the staff there ask me to wait outside
