Feringgi Bar at Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort and Spa - Penang

Bar

👍👍 Excellent ambiance, one of the few restaurants in Penang that understands that word. The food and service is great, the wine evenings are well worth signing up for. Easy parking. Service was all good, staff friendly and helpful. People often mention steak,

The best fine dinning restaurant in Penang. Former dress code is required at this fine establishment. Live piano perform during your dine in here. Booking are required as they are busy on the weekend. Great food from Chef Tiong and you get the best table service from Mr.Izahan and his team. If you order tomato soup, ceaser Salad or crepe Cuzette, you will be treated to the old school ‘cook by your table’ treat. Kids menu available. Golden circle member gets 20% off.

No I did not visit the Bar but ate at the grilll. Its a good place for meats and I get special treatment there as my friend is a recognised VIP at the grill. The fresh tomato soup is a speciality of theirs. Its also a good place to revisit as the menu changes when there is a change of Executive chef. So don't expect the same treatment of your steak on subsequent visits. The Rasa Sayang has changed so much when I first visited decades ago. At that time Batu Feringgi was very undeveloped. The change is for the better of course or else Mr Robert Kuok will be most upset, hahaha. Years ago I use to visit with my family. It was then I observed a Caucasian sitting in the garden but with a phone line. It turned out he was a liquor trader. There was also a Japanese restaurant but that is gone I think. I was told that some Caucasians visit the hotel year after year and on each visit ask to stay in the same room. For me that is not needed but on trips I don't like to stay more than four nights in the same room. I must relate that I once met Mr Kuok in the lift of the Island Shangri-la in HK. When the lift reach the Lobby and as a Junior I offered him to leave first. He declined saying in his hotel I am the client and he should leave after me. What a man. There are other stories but we leave it for another time.

Wow! Loved the bar! Very stylish with live piano tunes in the mix. Great place to throw a reception. And Kumar makes a killer Mai Tai!

It has dress code and it was not informed. I'm in a beach city and don't expect that kind of restriction. I went there with more five teammates and they said we can go only to the lounge bar

Best steak in town is correct. Best service I might add. Free and secure parking. Great list of food and beverages. Make a reservation is my recommendation. Dress smart and casual. Shoes and a shirt. Wonderful service and food. The steak is really a treat! Best steak I have ever had in Penang!! So far my best steak, and I didn't even get the top choice. Pricy, yes but worth it!!

One of the classiest places to go for food in Penang. Some of the dishes are made right at the table and so are piping hot and fresh.

We have been frequenting the grill since I was a child. Food is always exceptional. We were there for my birthday this evening. Everything was good except for the menu. Not much to choose from the menu. Should consider adding more choices for the guests.
