Located
in
what
I'm
assuming
to
previously
have
been
a
colonial
residence
or
a
new
building
styled
after
an
old
colonial
residence,
this
upscale
Malay
Cuisine
restaurant
also
makes
use
of
the
large
garden
facing
the
sea
to
provide
their
al-fresco
diners
with
a
fantastic
view
of
the
ocean.
We
opted
for
the
Hidang
Style
set
lunch
which
came
with
a
starter,
a
variety
of
dishes
to
be
eaten
over
rice,
and
a
dessert.
The
starter
of
prawn
fritters
was
a
delightfully
flavor
explosion;
these
crispy,
shrimpy
morsels
were
served
with
a
sweet
and
savory
sauce
reminiscent
of
a
rojak
sauce
but
with
enough
nuance
to
ensure
that
the
pairing
worked
very
well.
The
main
courses
had
a
mixture
of
hits
and
misses,
but
thankfully
the
hits
outnumber
the
misses.
The
mango
kerabu,
squid
(sotong
sultan
karipoley)
and
Masala
Chicken
were
excellent
while
the
tiger
prawns
(masak
lemak
cili
kampung)
were
unfortunate
overdone
even
though
the
gravy
was
nice.
The
grilled
fish
(ikan
bakar
signature
Tamarra)
was
particularly
disappointing
as
it
was
supposed
to
be
their
signature
dish;
while
the
char
and
the
texture
was
good,
the
fish
lacked
the
typical
turmeric,
ginger
and
lemongrass
flavors
one
typically
associates
with
this
style
of
grilled
fish.
It
was
also
under-salted.
The
condiments
helped,
but
I
felt
it
should
have
been
better.
The
dessert
of
black
glutinous
rice
and
vanilla
ice
cream
was
a
nice
finish
to
our
meal.
The
sweet
ice
cream
when
mixed
with
the
salted
black
glutinous
rice
is
a
sweet
and
savory
delight,
and
one
can
customize
their
own
balance
of
flavors
with
every
scoop.
I
can
see
why
this
place
can
be
a
popular
spot
for
large
group
meals
and
events,
and
it's
definitely
worth
checking
out
if
you're
looking
for
halal
food
and
willing
to
splurge
a
little
bit.
