Large very spacious rooms with built-in filtered water tap/faucet. The room that I got also had a microwave oven and a mini induction stove. Room is so clean as well and well designed. Very environmental friendly. It also has a convenience store just right around the hotel. Highly recommended and will definitely come back.

Love this place! Room was comfortable, clean and new! Staffs were polite and helpful. Location was excellent, view was beautiful. The gym was reasonably equipped. The infinity pool was relaxing, there is also a nice children's pool. There were 4 washer dryers on the 7th floor. The resident's lounge is only for residents staying 28 days or longer.

I recently staying at the 2-bedroom premier at Ascott Gurney Penang for a short holiday trip. The apartment style suite was top notch. Rooms were spacious, clean and modern with bay windows facing the beach on one side and the mountains on the other. The rooms were equipped with all the standard amenities that one would require from an apartment style suite including a large refrigerator, washer dryer, microwave, kettle, even an induction cooker. The hotel had an attached commercial area (gurney walk) with 24 hour shop as well as kids zones, spa and other shopping. The hotel was also located quite close to the biggest shopping malls which added to the convenience factor as Penang is not the easiest place to drive around with the rush hour traffic. Oh and that area in Georgetown is known for amazing restaurants which are like minutes away from the property as well. There was a chill vibe at the bar next to the lobby area and a small restaurant at the first floor of the property. The seventh floor of the property was dedicated to common facilities such as the residents lounge and a swimming pool and a more kid friendly pool with slides and a small gym as well. Parking was a bit tricky as it was located on the fourth floor which was accessible from the side of the building with a spiral ramp. Remember to validate your touch and go so that you won't be charged for the parking. My only complaint is that the room was not made on the second day and the hotel amenities were not restocked, however I had a pleasant stay and would recommend it for anyone traveling with kids and family or with friends. I would suggest booking early as the rates were quite steep compared to other properties in Penang.

Stayed at this hotel for a business trip for 3H2M in an executive room. As for the room, this is one of the most exclusive rooms I have ever stayed in. The separate living room and bedroom make it so exclusive and great, especially for the panoramic view of the bay. Bathrooms with bathtubs, with views of the bay and luxurious toiletries are very tempting. So, for rooms, this is one of the best hotel rooms in Georgetown, Penang. I was a bit disappointed with the buffet. I have 3 meals a day. There is nothing special about the buffet even though it is expensive. Maybe because everyone comes to Penang, they must go outside for food hunting. Then, the other thing, from the lobby to the parking lot, there is no elevator. You must carry all your belongings up/down using the stairs.

Clean modern, hotel. Reception staff who were v young were often clueless. We asked to move rooms due to an endless loop of music played behind our head board in some unreachable area. The young lad on reception thought this was hilarious and told me it was "disgusting" while laughing. Well after 27 hrs of travelling to get there, I didn't find it funny. They offered a second room, under the machine room of the hotel at the top floor. Insanely noisy. Gave up at that point. Rest of the staff were outstanding. They need grown ups on reception.

We stayed in a family suite - 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms, living area, kitchen, dining. It's practically a whole apartment, with fantastic ocean views from all rooms. Kitchen comes stocked with cookware & tableware, full fridge & freezer, kettle etc and my favourite, a built-in water filter. No need for bottled water! Power sockets with built-in USB charging ports are scattered throughout the rooms, very convenient. Master bed + bath is very spacious & well appointed. King bed, rain shower, double sinks, bathtub with a view. Second bed + bath has twin beds (we added on another bed, can fit 3 single beds in a row) & rain shower. Pool area has something for young & old. Kids area has 2 slides and some play features, the other pool is the infinity pool stretching out towards the ocean. Absolutely wonderful view. The hotel is in an excellent location, sharing a building with a small mall if I'm not mistaken. If you exit the hotel, turn left & start walking, the next 1-2 km is the food-tastic part of Gurney Dr. So much good local food just a easy walk from the hotel up to the roundabout.

Great hotel at Gurney area. Located beside Gurney Walk (small mall) and about 15-20minutes leisurely stroll by the seaside to Gurney Drive Hawker Center and Gurney Paragon. about 5-10minutes by car to touristy area of Georgetown. The view is awesome from our room, as we managed to get a glimpse of the Straits of Malacca. My rooms was modernly furnished. We enjoyed the facilities such as the gym and the ocean-facing infinity pool. Very unique cocktails at the bar as well!

Large room, comfortable bed with soft pillows, clean towels, and quality toiletries. The room was equipped with a drinking water tap utilising 3M filters as part of the sustainability efforts to reduce bottled water usage. The customer service was polite but somehow lacking in competence. I was under the impression of a free breakfast upgrade when one informed me the room came with breakfast, which wasn’t the case. I had another "no-changes-allowed" room booked on the wrong date (I suspected the app somehow reverted to default dates when it refreshed), and the reservation manager bluntly rejected any compromises while the online customer service informed me the premise itself can have the discretion to allow changes. I do expect courtesy in the hospitality industry.

Amazing transformation under new management, the Ascott Gurney is now one of best service apartments that we have stayed in, during our travels. The fittings are new, service was impeccable ( helpful front desk) and with excellent dining @ Timur Cafe, our short stay turned out to be our best one in Penang. Their breakfast spread rivalled most five star hotels with both local and international flavours. Since it was Father's Day, their Executive Chef Chong prepared a innovative and delicious mantou spread for all at Timur Cafe during lunch. Rooms were spacious and they even have a Pillow menu with 4 different choices, in order to ensure your sleeping comfort. Great memorable time at the new Ascott Gurney

I am Teti from Indonesia. I booked Ascott Gurney Penang randomly from google for 2 nights as my husband wanted a hotel with a seaside view. Turns out, not only did my husband get his wish, they have set us up with best view that looks out to both the sea and the mountain. Kitchen is excellent, complete with potable water tap along with great and affordable room service meals. Cleanliness and hospitality are top notch all around. Best Regards to Miss Yuzuki who has made this place feel like our home. Thank you so much Ascott Gurney Penang. Until next time.

I stayed for almost a week within one of two rooms, the deluxe double room that had a total of three beds (Two single and one king bed split between two rooms) and the deluxe single which had a total of one bed (One king bed). The rooms were always spotless and housekeeping ensured that our time there was very much a better than home experience, while the amenities of the location did not dissapoint either. The rooms were spacious, bright and the views were stunning, overlooking the Penang strait or straight into Georgetown, views that will surely encapsulate you whether you are relaxing by the top down windows or by the comfortable bathtub. The swimming pool was a spacious infinity pool overlooking the strait and down the coast, a beautiful sight both in the evening and nighttime while the Glass bar is there to accommodate any alcoholic cravings. I was especially happy with the concierge of the Ascott Gurney Penang Hotel, especially with the service of a concierge named Yuzuki who made our stay as lovely as she was. The stay was very convenient and we found zero issues with our stay, and any accommodations necessary such as an extra bed, extra pillows and blankets were accomplished hastily and with dilligence unlike I’ve experienced before. I would highly recommend this hotel and I look forward to visiting here again!

Really like staying at this hotel because the facilities are top notch, esp for families with kids. They have a children’s playroom and even a dedicated baby pool with slides for them. Also wanna give a huge shout out to Winnie from reception who so kindly extended the check out timing for us after we told her that our baby will need to nap before our late flight back. Thanks Ascott for the wonderful stay.

Great location on gurney drive. It’s just right beside gurney walk which has cafe, restaurant and bakery! The hotel provides shuttle to chowara market in the morning and batu feringgi night market in the evening. The room is big…! Staffs are great.. The hotel is very environmental friendly! The room I stayed was with kitchenette, there’s a tap with filtered water. A pitcher was provided for guest to fill up the filtered water instead of providing single use plastic water bottle. Thank you very much for the effort! Nice lobby and a bar at the lobby..

Our stay is in One-Bedroom Executive suite. The suites come with breathtaking sea view, spacious, cozy and clean. It also come with well-equipped kitchenette such as large size fridge, microwave and induction cooker. Hotel lobby is very spacious and luxurious. Facilities is exceptional such as infinity swimming pool, gym room, yoga room, children's playroom, outdoor BBQ area, and resident's lounge. Highlight to the Glass Bar located beside the swimming pool, providing a pleasant setting to enjoy poolside drinks. Don't forget to try out their signature cocktail! Ascott Gurney direct connections to Gurney walk was a great convenience, as we had easy access to a diverse array of restaurants, cafes, specialty shops, and a convenient store. The upcoming Gurney Wharf entrance are just located in front of the hotel. We highly recommend Ascott Gurney Penang for their great hospitality, spacious rooms, exceptional facilities, and great location.

The room is spacious and comfortable, with the cleanliness being top notch. Additionally, the staff that addressed our needs were friendly and approachable. The location is quite convenient as it’s in the city and you can easily obtain whatever you need and it’s easily accessible to many famous tourist hotspot. We even got a good view of the sea! This is definitely a place worth checking into a second time. I will wholeheartedly recommend this place to anybody looking for accommodation during their visit to Penang.

Everything about this hotel from the front desk during check-in to their service was top notch. Rooms were spacious and comfortable throughout the stay. Apart from that, the breakfast buffet is a must-try as the food options they serve comes in a variety of dishes which were delicious. 5/5 would recommend 💯

Great location on Gurney drive. Was previously Gurney Suite. Hotel fully renovated and refurbished. Room is very spacious, has a small kitchenette with washing basin. But our room type (deluxe) doesnt include the kitchen/dining utensils. Breakfast so so only, and it's the same food everyday. Staff and service - generally not friendly - front office & coffee house.

The rooms were mediocre at best, the heater takes 10-20m to work and by then I’m already finished. The restaurants are so empty, I went expecting to eat dinner however when I arrived i was Met with an empty view with just a waiter cleaning plates and another in the kitchen; was not greeted or even directed as no one was at the front. There are many hotels with better locations than here, I’m not sure why this is a 5 star hotel even, it’s beyond disappointing and a 3 star would be a more fitting rating.

First time at Ascott Gurney Penang. Had a room with a great view! The service was excellent. Attended to by Li Mei, who had earlier very patiently helped a customer ahead of me (Good job Li Mei!). It was my 2nd week of travel - the room washing machine cum dryer was a great welcome! The room is very clean and very well maintained. Get a room that has a bath with sea view (See picture)! Oh yes ... infinity swimming pool has a great view too! There is a mall next door where breakfast coffee places open between 7.00am and 8.00am. But the Ascott's Timur Coffee House (Level 2) probably offers best value, great buffet spread at a reasonable price :-). The mall is directly connected to Ascott Gurney at level 2 and 3 lifts. Extremely easy to goto various famous food places by Grab (No cash needed), and very reasonably priced.

My first time in Penang and I loved my stay at Ascott hotel Penang. Beautiful sea view from my room. The room was clean and comfortable and comes equipped with appliances as well as all the toiletries you will needed. Honorable mention to the waterfall shower head. I loved that there’s a water filter in the room to reduce plastic waste. Very eco-conscious hotel! Bonus points for that! Also love how there’s buttons for “Do not disturb” and “Needs cleaning” Love the amenities as well! I was in the pool for the 2 days of my stay! Never crowded (at least on the weekday) Highly recommend going in the morning to bask in the sun by the pool. Do opt for the breakfast option at the Timur coffee house! The food is delicious and breakfast time is from 6:15am - 10:30am so no need to rush! Staff is so courteous and willing to assist. 5 stars from me! I will be recommending this hotel and will be revisiting the next time I’m in Penang. Thanks Ascott for the comfiest stay! Wishing you continued success! Hopefully access to the sea soon (it’s currently under construction) Otherwise, everything was perfect 🫶🏼

If you value great amenities, quiet, clean and comfortable rooms in addition to friendly and helpful staff, The Ascott is the #1 hotel in Penang. We've stayed multiple times, in addition to many of the other 5 star hotels in Penang, and can confidently say that this is our favourite for overall comfort. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate all of our requests, and were always prompt and courteous. A good team needs a great leader, so thank you, Sharon.

Such a lovely hotel to stay. Very cozy and they provided their own water so no need water bottle in the room. The staff friendly too, easy check in and everything was satisfying. You could find the food stall beside the hotel as well. Definitely will come back here ;)

Aside from the driver waiting for us for an hour since the custom queue was very long, cleanliness of the room, am very grateful for Ally for assisting us throughout the trip. From check-in to answering to our many enquiries on locations and grab services in Penang, to advising us on checkout time. Great customer service and clean rooms.

Love the room layout. Huge room and very clean. Definitely will be coming back to stay again if I am in Penang, Georgetown. Usually, when I am in a hotel, I will explore the facilities and amenities. There are children swimming play pool and an adult pool. Child playroom for kids and gym. All is well kept, and hope it will keep it that way. There is a power point on each side of the bed, which is convenient for us to charge our phones. Instead of providing bottled water, every room is equipped with a 3M filter tap. Reported a leaking bidet, and it wasn't addressed immediately but was fixed when I came back to the room. It would be great if they can seek permission before entering the room. Location wise near Gurney Paragon mall and Gurney plaza.

Overall it’s a pleasant stay at Ascott Penang. The room is spacious with great amenities at the room; refill drinking water, coffee machine, fragrant shower gel and shampoo. The bed is at the comfort level, just great softness. The breakfast is great as well, nice flavor and varieties. The gym is pleasant; just enough equipment to exercise with with great ambience and lighting. The swimming pool is nicely separated; kids and adult. Next to the lobby, there’s Gurney Walk, a nice place just to get some good coffee and dinner. Very convenient. Definitely going back here again.

Warm service, delectable buffet and simple yet sleek interior, what more can you ask for? The buffet is a level up and the dining space is neat. You get a balance of savoury and sweet options, but I preferred the savoury. Upon entering, you'll be greeted by Jo's Bar. Perhaps, the most eye catching element of the property. Since I was short on time, I thought of exploring the bar for the next visit.

I stayed 3 nights. I called for room service on the second day. The house keeper changed my towels but said the bedsheets will be changed on the 3rd day so that I will have fresh sheets for the 3rd night. Unfortunately I discovered when I returned to the room that even though the bed was made and it looked tidy, on closer examination, I found the sheets and the pillow cases weren’t changed! I know for sure because I marked the old sheets! Management should look into this. How do you ensure your housekeepers do their jobs properly? It begs the question are we getting clean sheets when there is a change of guests??

The room is clean and spacious. Nice outdoor pool and playroom for kids. Breakfast is pretty standard with a good mix of local and western options, but local fares are more yummy. The bartender on the 7th floor Glass Bar is a jewel, his cocktail creations are beautiful. I really enjoyed my stay.

Awesome experience, it was a staycation for me n hub, the room is clean n spacious, the bathtub was amazing with the view overlook the straits. The hotel put effort in sustainability such as providing shampoo n soap in big bottles, and installed filtered water tap instead of providing plastic bottles of water. The pool is clean n big, the kids pool is very attractive. We will definitely return!

A hotel that I would not agreed of how they hospitalised the customers. Stated a pet friendly hotel but would charge half of the room rate for a dog with many terms and conditions that you would barely understand a difference between a dog with a well trained children. Plus a half price of a flexible rate of the day but not the price as what u booked for stay on a pet. Called two times to confirm and speak to the manager but the tones of speaking and way of handling the issue doesn’t seem a truly pet friendly hotel but only trying to marketing themselves for a wider market for profit Truly dislike the way of how they branding themselves and without any practical purpose to be pet friendly , meanwhile I can share all the email of terms and condition of how ridiculous they could chase your pet away after charging price of the room on unpredictable room rate

Check-in was a bit slow as there was only one staff at the front desk, other staff were down with covid. I called before arriving (and again upon arriving asking) for a crib which the hotel said will be delivered soon. I stayed up until 10pm, I was exhausted and had to call them, only to be informed that they ran out of cribs. Luckily they provided us with an extra bed to make up for it. The pools were huge, especially the kiddy pool, they came with two slides and was partially covered. But the location somehow makes the area very windy and cold. The changing room was nice and clean. Breakfast was adequate. Wished there were some kuetiau and some other desserts but it was okay, the staff were also quick and nice. We stayed at premier twin studio and King studio. The latter, surprisingly came with a washer-dryer. Kitchens were available in both rooms but no bathtub. The fridge at my room was faulty as its freezer compartment caused my ice cream to melt even after I put it there overnight. The view, however, was spectacular as we were facing the sea. Splendid. The hotel is also attached to a small "mall", they do have a 24 hour convenience store which was a bad one, lack of variety of items sold, even the RM1 priced soda was charged more than double the price by the shop. The staff was bad too, did not bother to inform me that I left an item after paying. Overall it was an enjoyable stay for us. Very convenient for families.

Awesome stay we had. Easy assessible to many good eateries, shopping malls and even Georgetown. We walked to most places to and fro the hotel. Sometimes we took Grab. Spick and span, room is spacious, well kept, perfect layout. Amenities are in excellent quality. Staff is so friendly and attentive. Breakfast is simple and not much of selections but nice enough to fill our belly.

Such a great gift that the front desk which processed my check-in being able to upgrade my room from Studio Deluxe to Studio Premier. The room is above my expectation. The room Haden-suite and mini kitchen with oven. The shower place and the toilet is in separate room in the bathroom. Nice room with clean surrounding. Will recommend to friend.

Ascott Gurney is a great place to recharge & unwind. The rooms, amenities, and breakfast buffet were up to par and would highly recommend. The service was great too. When back in Penang next, I'll definitely plan my stay to be here. :)

Phenomenal hotel in a great location. We originally booked a different hotel, but our contacts local to Penang strongly suggested canceling that reservation, and booked us with Ascott…we’re very happy they did. Beautiful lobby, clean, spacious, modern rooms - many of which overlooking the water, and very kind and helpful staff. Excellent dining, cafés, electronics, convenience and gift shops just steps from Ascott. Highly recommend staying here.

Booked this place to pamper myself on my birthday and I loved every minute of it. They prepare the complimentary birthday cake and met my request for my party in the room. Enjoy the bath tub with amazing view. Hope the can improved the in-house TV channels, no football ⚽ channel!

Love the amenities provided in the room and the view too! Great workout facilities too. Residence lounge is a huge plus point for this property. It has been a while that we are able to enjoy good hotel breakfast after the pandemic. Ascott Gurney Penang really did well on their breakfast selection. My stay in Ascott Gurney Penang is too short to enjoy more. I will be back soon!
