Odd experience. The two rooms are beautiful, with a great view of Penang from its 23rd floor location. I was the only person in the place on a weeknight. I asked for a Martini; the bartender responded that I could only order from listed cocktails. I responded that I saw dry vermouth behind the bar, and that a Martini was not only simple to mix, but was probably the most famous gin cocktail. No luck. Allegedly, the manager had instructed the bartenders not to make any cocktail not on the list, and that was that. Sigh. Maybe one of these days the Gin Library will see fit to add a Gin Martini to its gin cocktail list. Otherwise, that vermouth is going to last a very long time.

Ostréa Caviar & Oyster Bar has moved from The Edison Hotel to the Gin Library (August 2022) so expect the best oysters and premium seafood in town paired with a great selection of gin and wine 👌🏼 Thank God they moved here ☺️ The Gin Library is a MUCH more deserving and appropriate location for Ostréa than The Edison was 😛 now you can enjoy fine food in a clean and air-conditioned location with a beautiful view and don’t have to worry about being eaten alive by mosquitoes 🥰

Atmosphere of an english club, very intimate setting & conducive to have quiet talks. Though this is a bar lounge i still hope to see a bit more food variety with bigger portions as the cafe downstairs is closed after 10 & drinking seems to invigorate the appetite. Seats r amply dispersed ensuring privacy here is a room for group functions. View from 23rd floor is nice esp at nite but aircond tan b tuned down a smidgen as its uncomfortably cold & condensation affects the gr8 view.

Asked for a Martini, the bartender didn't know what that was. Weird for a speciality gin bar! I told her to just google it and she comes back with something salt rimmed with ice. I swear she made me a margarita and she flat out denied it. Then she got the manager Involved and I told him to make me a Martini, just gin and vermouth. She then returns with a cloudy drink with ice. I take it back to the bar and the manager said he was just following instructions. I asked to look at what he was following and it was Gin Margarita! It's a gin speciality bar and these guys don't even know what a Martini is. The most widely known gin cocktail on the planet. I had to babysit them and teach them how to make the most basic cocktail that everyone should know. The vermouth was off though because it wasn't kept in the fridge and was old. Avoid this gin bar if you like classic gin cocktails... weird advice I know.

The Gin Bar and Ostréa Oyster & Seafood Bar collaboration is the biggest joke of the town. Was staying in the hotel for 3 nights and decided to head up to experience the so called “promo”. We were shown to the table and forgotten for a good 15min that they had not even given us the menus. I went and reminded them - no problem, they gave us menus for gin and food. Splattered the menu on the table and went missing for another 15min, no where to be seen to take our order. We reminded them yet again, and to which they decided to finally entertain us. It is at this point, after 30mins of keeping us waiting, without being serviced and giving us the food menu - they have the audacity to say there’s no food, not even bar food which was being advertised and promo’ed - both in the room and through the hotel. Mind you, this is at 8pm, when they were supposed to be open till 11pm. Will I visit again? Nope! I don’t mind the food not being available, but the service in itself was so appalling that I’d rather not waste my time with this pretentious place. Will I stay at Marriott, perhaps not this one because if the own hotel restaurants can’t service the hotel guests, then good luck to the others. Penang is great, other good and better choices.

A pleasant way of discovering fresh oysters in Penang. Nice Penang city view.

Dropped in at 4pm on a Friday evening. They had an impressive selection of international gin alongside other liquors. Gin cocktail menu was also quite interesting. My friend and I had a cucumber gimlet and a rosemary gin fizz (made with in-house infused gin). Very refreshing and well-mixed though not too strong. Fair amount against the price of the cocktails. Ambiance is nice and staff are knowledgable and friendly. Worth for a couple drinks in a relaxing environment.

Initially thought the Gins are the highlight, but we are pleasantly surprized by the food. The food are something not to be miss!

Pleasant ambience. Bartender took initiative to recommend which garnish goes well with the gin. Oysters were fresh! Was expecting the server to be more experience though to match up to the standard. As I didn’t know my husband ordered the oysters I asked her if he ordered when the oysters came. She could have said let me check and revert. Overall we had a pleasant experience.

Visited this place a few weeks ago. Has great ambience and is a nice place to chill at. Price is reasonable.

Iced latte(RM14, if I remembered correctly) smooth texture, no sour back taste. 2. grapefruit cocktail (MYR40), decently made. View of the city is calm, 🌃 too bad it fogged up after a while.
