Super cool place to visit. Also great to do on a hot day, because the caves are nice and cool. Plus you get to try your hand at carving the sandstone yourself which was very fun.

This place is wonderful. Great variety of things for kids of all ages and even adults. There's 3D cave paintings, charcoal portraits, a dino area, a crafting area, where you can craft something from limestone, a dark sinister cave area and through all of it you get to do a puzzle quiz. Very well set-up in the overall intriguing network of the Limburg limestone cave network.

Mergelrijk is an educational location for all ages. It tels 3 story's connected through "mergel". First one about the how the "mergel" was created and the animals from that period. The second about the exploitation of mergel and the last one about how coal mining was done. We spend about 2 hours in the "mergel" cave. We parked across the road, but be on time it is a small parking space.

Very nice place to visit with kids there is a tour where the kids leave in an educational and playful way a lie of the local history. All the local mining great explained and a lot of information about dinosaurs. The kids can search for remaining of dinosaurs, they will find thoots of ancient sharks in the ground. What also very funny to do is to carve a piece of soft stone into your favourite designs. The kids can bring that to home of they like. Since valkenburg is a very touristic city parking can be challenging even while there is a parking at tbe the opposite side of the road. Don't worry. Valkenburg is a small place so tbe other parking are at walking distance we had a very good afternoon with the kids over here.

Third visit over several years, the whole attraction has had an update recently I think. Lots to see, not too crowded. Well worth a visit give yourself a good couple of hours at the least.

Awesome experience! Very fun to be walking around a few feet underground and learning a thing or two about how the mineworkers got to work there. There's plenty to learn about dinosaurs (although some information is a bit outdated). The sculptures in the walls made by university students, about ten years ago, and on the displays are absolutely amazing to look at and there's some interactivity as well! You can carve out your own piece of rock and there's a section where you get to draw on the walls (if you dare to enter as it is dark and spooky!). Definitely recommended. It is quite the walk up the hill from Valkenburg, so I recommend leaving on time. Sometimes if you're a little earlier that's okay too.

It is comparable to Maastricht underground, almost the same but there are many statues inside, small museum, and of course - the 3D room, BUT: there was unbreathable air, no ventilation, stench, 3D paintings were faded, almost unusable for good pictures, no English notes at exponats, I think the ads for this place are exaggerated, the staff was kind but the price and the overall feeling was not worthy, paid parking at the city or at front entrance, wc available

Interessant, informativ, überraschend, sehr gute Ideen erfolgreich umgesetzt. Freundliche Mitarbeiter.

Expected more of a historic museum than a novelty museum. There are some very well made statues and dioramas.

Overall a great experience. Loads of information of the local area with ability to create your souvenir with the stone!!!! The puzzle book was great to keep kids engaged and learn along the way!!! 3D photoscape was great to have some fun. English information was very minimal and overall experience feels pricey !! Nonetheless a place worth visiting!!

An Sommertagen annehm Kühl.

Beautiful and Educational trip trough the history and origination of the hills in Limburg. Turns out this used to be mosasaur territory and the holes formed when the prehistoric seas dried out. Then, way way later, about 300 years ago, the hills were a great supplier of various resources for the towns people, they even grew vegetables!

Interesting place to see how they made alot out of the "mergel" ( aka limestone). Also in the village itself you can see a lot of buildings made off it. Also very cool was that you could sculpt your own little figure inside it. Also they merged a little Dino expo in it wich makes it even more interesting for the little ones

What an amazing day trip. I would recommend for anyone with children to visit here. They take covid into account properly and the staff is super friendly. It’s a unique experience in one of the few rocky area’s in the Netherlands.

👍👍 Quite a cute little ride. Went when it was raining, and they closed the seats of the cable ride to keep them as dry as possible when not being used. All of their side rides were closed due to weather, but that is not within their control obviously though would have been fun to try.
