Very impressive castle and amazing story behind it. If you are in this area or you are wanting to see any Japanese castle, this one is near the top(literally). You can choose to walk up this mountain and see the beautiful nature views along the way or pay a small charge to ride the rope lift car. Or, walk one way and ride another is an option as well. It is great to learn of this story and also see gifu and other areas of Japan from high on the castle top.

Has, in my opinion from all the castles I’ve been to so far, the best view of any castle in Japan. The entire surrounding Gifu area can be seen from the top. 09/04/2023

Wonderful castle, but going here during summer’s peak was dehydrating. 😵‍💫 Even after boarding the rope way, you’d still to climb a looot! There are jihankis at the top, but the price per bottle is almost triple. 🤣

It’s a very good place to build a castle. You don’t have to take a chairlift if you can walk two and a little bit more kilometers but if you decide to chairlift be prepared to walk uphill a bit more. Also if you want to go into the castle itself, that’s a couple hundred yen you have to pay. Which is totally worth it anyway the view on the top of the castle is spectacular. The breeze is so refreshing you also have to pay a couple hundred yen for the museum as well. I don’t know what it’s like because I didn’t went there. Be prepared for our very long line for the chairlift though, could be 30min or more

Lovely views. We took the cable car up and hiked down and it was a wonderful day. The castle itself has some interesting artifacts but the interior structure is unimpressive. The exterior is very pretty though. Worth the trip!

The mountain offers a beautiful view, and the castle looks impressive from its base. However, upon visiting the museum inside, I must admit I was not as impressed as I had hoped. It's unfortunate, but the exterior view remains a highlight of the experience.

Gifu Castle is located on the top of Mount Kinka. It was built by the famous Japanese general Oda Nobunaga when he unified the world. This castle stands on the top of Kinka Mountain. It is easy to defend but difficult to attack. It has great strategic value.

Climb "Mt. Kinkazan" to reach Gifu Castle towering at the top. The trail "Meiso no Komichi" is 2.3 km long and can be climbed in one hour. For your first visit to "Mt. Kinkazan," we recommend that you walk the trail instead of taking the ropeway. The view from the top of the mountain is spectacular. Once inside the castle, you will feel like "Nobunaga Oda.

Amazing place! The view from the top is breathtaking. You can see the range of hills along side the hill of castle and also the hill and mountains of gifu. You can see the buildings of Nagoya as well. There is gifu museum as well. Another Ticket to go inside castle & museum is required. There is restaurant and toilet with bridges and stone steps along the pathway. You can either hike or go through cable car.

One of the well-known castles in Japan! You need to climb a bit after getting off from the cable car. However, it is worth climbing the mountain for 10-15 minutes! Amazing view and nice cafe-restaurant. You will enjoy one of the greatest views for sure! Need to pay small money for entrance of the castle and the zoo!

A good view to see the whole area. In addition, the small hiking trail is also great to visit and feel the favor from the woods and mountain. Rope car is just no more than 1000yen very worth to visit.

Historical mark in Gifu city. You can take the ropeway to the top, very nice view of the city. Not exactly a castle more like an observation tower. Lacking more historical situation. You can learn more about Nobunaga and Japans history at the Historical Museum but anyway can’t skip this monument if you visit the city.

Definitely a must-see when in Gifu City! You can reach the castle by hiking or by the Kinkazan Ropeway. Entrance fee: ¥200 for adults and ¥100 for elementary students. You can also visit the Gifu Castle museum for free by showing them your ticket. We visited on a weekend and there were many (but not too crowded) people there.

It is a reconstructed Castle but it has lots of historic value and what a beautiful view of Japan. A must see, the Cable car made it easy to get to with a 15-20 min hike. The children liked this caste.

Visit on Sunday Entrance for castle inside: ¥200 Ropeway for return:¥1,100 There are three parking lots and the cost will be ¥300. The castle is located on the hill so you need to ride a ropeway to get you there or you can walk as well. It says it might take an hour. The view from the castle is literally amazing and you should be able to enjoy the view from 180°. Also if you are a foreigner, you can get a castle sticker as well.

It's on the mountain, you can climb it on your own or take a ropeway. It's a bit challenging climb but worth it. On the way back, there's a squirrel land where you can feed them from gloved hand. At the foot of the mountain there's a butterfly and insects museum. Highly recommended.

Several trails to the summit. I did 3 in one day. Very nice views of the surrounding city. Overall, fun and challenging. Vending machines at the top were clutch!

There different trails on the way up the castle or take the cable car (¥1100 round trip). Then museum costs ¥200 which had 360 view of the city.

The most beautiful place you should have visit in Gifu. At some moments, you can see the moon right above the castle, and also you can visit Ukai festival in Nagara river.

  • 5/5 Laura F. 1 year ago on Google
Gorgeous. Warning, there are a lot of steps to climb even after you get off the ropeway at the top. The views walking up are stunning, as are the views from the veranda on the top floor of the castle.
