It is one of the best places in Springfield for steak. I've been here many times and never experienced an issue with my meal. The food is always cooked exactly as ordered, and the portion sizes are generous. The service is always top-notch! Dennis regularly checks on the tables and makes each guest feel like family. The atmosphere is dated but in the best, most cozy way possible. This place will remain my go-to for a nice night and dinner out.

Visiting Springfield to do the touristy-thing (museums), and saw all the rave reviews about this place. A couple tips: The parking lot is deceiving - even when full, you might not be a wait for a table (between the bar and the 2 seating locations, they can pack them in). There's a $2 charge if you use a credit card. More-or-less a steak and potato joint (along with a few fried options, like chicken or fish). The portions are plentiful, and priced about average for the area/establishment. Not quite Wisconsin Supper Club, but wood paneling, darker lighting, and a very active bar

This is an old city experience that reminded me of neighborhoods in old east coast cities like Boston or Philadelphia. It's a quiant neighborhood bar and restaurant with the atmosphere of a 90 year old place that hasn't changed very much. Loved it. The steak was delicious, my husband had the filet and I had the NY strip, both were perfect.

Amazing staff, Payne and Dennis are good hosts. Great homemade sauces. The most amazing baked potato I’ve experienced with they homemade garlic sauce. Friendly atmosphere. Good portions. The NY steak I orded was a good price and delicious. The fried cauliflower sent me back to my childhood.

It's like stepping back in time to an era where it wasn't just grabbing a bite to eat but instead it was going out to dinner. It was having an experience where table service meant someone was there to truly take care of you and knowing you were not going to have to ask for another drink because it was already there at the table when you needed it. It was about having white linen tablecloths and real cloth napkins and real heavyweight silverware. It was about having your steak cooked to order and the kitchen having the experience to deliver it as ordered each and every time. It was about a side salad that is properly cold with ample cheese and croutons and dressing. It was about a building with a bar and dining room that created an environment that was large enough to seat a large group but never felt like it was over crowded or too loud to enjoy your own conversations. It was an era where good friends met for good food at good places. Sometimes that era seems so far away but it does still exist. Welcome to the Old Lux!

We were one of 2 parties in the back room with 20+ people each. The waitress did an incredible job! She got drinks out to the right people, salads and food! The food was delicious as always. The whole staff was awesome! Waitress paid special attention to our birthday girl and she was so pleased. It was an excellent experience and of course we'll be back. Many more times!

Great food, excellent service! Atmosphere was clean but dark. Everyone was very friendly. This was our first time eating there. Will definitely go back.

I took my 2 granddaughters out and we chose Old Lux. We all had ribeyes and all the sides. The steaks were medium rare, medium well and well done, they were all perfect. Dinner was great and the service was great. Did not have to wait for a seat in which the owner seated us. I love the Ole Lux always have and will be going back. I posted some of the food.

I will absolutely come here again the next time I'm in town. The food was amazing and Dennis is wonderful. Everyone should come experience the awesomeness of this establishment.

OMG!! I haven't been to the Old Lux in decades. I was invited to celebrate my mom's boyfriends 92nd birthday!! The food was absolutely incredible!! The service was wonderful! We were in a big room by ourselves. There were 12 of us. Some of us from Springfield, some drove from Chicago and others drove from Indianapolis. We all had a wonderful time!! The owner kept walking by singing Happy birthday. I will be back given the first opportunity!! Thank you to the owner and the staff at the Old Luxembourg for making this gathering a wonderful experience!!

I can't say enough good things about this place. The owner is such a nice gentleman very friendly the atmosphere is very calm and peaceful. The food is definitely a five-star rating the steak is to die for not like the steaks pump with chemicals these were very fresh tasting. Something about the ranch and cocktail sauce is really really good the cocktail sauce had a very smooth taste not a bitter taste. The mozzarella sticks are in a whole nother level as well. And the Shirley Temple's are really good.

This is a great "old" joint with great steaks! The baked potato with Chive cheese was delicious. We had never had that topping before, and we loved it. The staff & owner are fantastic & fun! They are definitely part of why this place is great!

The owner is gracious to his customers and is always there to see things are going smoothly. Our waitress Robyn, is someone we know from another establishment we frequent. She's wonderful. Ask for her table and tip her well!

I had the Fried Shrimp dinner with Baked Potato. The Chive cheese is so delicious!

First time to dine here, because I was under the impression that it wasn't a place to eat, but rather a old hotel of some sort. A good friend of mine, who happens to be a Catholic priest, treated me with a great dinner. To drink, requested a favorite of mine, Dr pepper, which they don't have fortunately. Instead, I had one of the few soda options available, root beer. The soda was, to my surprise, incredible. I'm not a fan of the beverage, but loved it. The salad and rolls were definitely above average, held me over till my classic ribeye steak and baked potato arrived. The potato was flooded with a chives and cheese was amazing. The medium prepared ribeye steak was prepared to my liking and was so good I can't seem to put the description into words. Take my word for it, it exceeded my expectations. Service, cost, and atmosphere was all culminated into, in my opinion, the best dining experience I've been a part of since I have lived in central Illinois the past ten years.
