The convent of Sant Domènec de Girona, founded in 1253 by Bishop Berenguer de Castellbisbal and consecrated in 1339, is a monumental complex made up of two cloisters, the convent and a church in early Catalan Gothic style. The building, declared a cultural asset of national interest, is in the eastern part of the old city walled enclosure. The convent of Sant Domènec, which is located in the Old Quarter of Girona, close to the medieval wall, is one of the most relevant models of the foundation of a mendicant order in Catalonia, given that it has preserved its initial layout, despite the reforms it has undergone. The old convent buildings are occupied by the facilities of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Girona and the nave of the church functions as the Aula Magna of the same faculty.

Convent founded in the year 1253. Its church is dedicated to the Annunciation of Mary, construction began in 1254 and was consecrated in 1339. It was used as a barracks after the confiscation of 1835. Since 2013 it has been the headquarters of the Faculty of Letters from the University of Gerona.

We enjoyed the spectacular cloister of the convent of Sant Domènec in the fashion show organized by the University of Girona and Qstura. It was a pleasure to be part of the event in a space with such majesty and history.

The reconstruction of these spaces, from ecclesiastical times, has allowed the University of Girona to reuse them.

😠 I don't know why people say this is a beautiful place worth visiting! This is just a metal bridge (for pedestrians), nothing more than that. Even though it was made by the guy who built the Eiffel Tower in Paris; guess because of that.
