Great hospitality! They have a huge collection of papyrus both for Egyptian history and Arabic/Islamic Choreography. They also have a few collections written in phosphorus where you'll get different designs/shapes in the dark . Glad to have the little demonstration on how papyrus is being prepared by Cutting the stalks. The product price is very very costly, I had a failed negotiation of 100 EGP for their ask of 600 EGP, but got something similar with 75 EGP from a small shop near the Tahrir square.

Recommend! We had a nice and informative experience, learning about how papyrus being made. The welcome hibiscus drink was delicious, and our guide really made our time worthwhile. They were not too pushy either although they did try to up sell even more when we did purchase. We also recommend having cash with you, because they charge you extra for the bank charge if you pay with card.

For the sake of clarity, this is a papyrus shop NOT a museum. They will quickly demonstrate how to make of papyrus paper before bringing your attention to all of their artwork. Prices are very expensive; therefore, this is a TOURIST TRAP SCAM. 1,000 EGP for a papyrus design that is A4 in size. Again, THIS IS NOT A MUSEUM, you might be here because your so-called "tour guide" stated to show you a papyrus museum. Your tour guide may receive a commission from each store you visited.

This is a scam, a sham, an utter mockery. They expect you to haggle but honestly whoever brought you there gets a commission and if you walked in on your own you're already a rube. I got scammed not by not knowing any better but by feeling intense pressure for a barely sub par product. Avoid at all costs. And don't get their perfumes or anything either. Dude bilked me for a huge sum then asked me for a tip at the end. Ain't that something.

The worst SCAM ever! If you land here you have been ripped off. Beware of fake guides selling you the pyramids tours on camel/cart for a huge price (over 50$) saying it is “government approved” and that you will pay it at the end at the ticket office. You will actually pay it at this private outlet

Nice place. One can see the real time demonstration how pyperus paper made. They provide guarantee certificate with every product. Color and design are excellent. Islamic, Faraonic, natural all kind of painting are available. Though price is higher than local market, may be authenticity can minimise the issue of price.

This gallery is just awesome. You will get one of the best souvenir from this place. Our cab driver took us to this place. Initially we were thinking like he is just making money with commission but believe me this place is good. You can buy some good stuff from here. I don’t know the price they are providing is worth or not. But still I believe that it’s good though.

Is a good idea to buy papyrus here because it's real and all around Ghiza we will find fake papyrus. They will explain you the difference between real and fake papyrus, they will show you how they make the paper from the plants and then you can choose from many paintings, different sizes or they can make something for you (like you name in hieroglyphics). My son wanted just the 📜, he is a little painter himself. There is already proof that paintings on papyrus last for thousands of years.

Definitely a tourist trap. Work looks beautiful but the prices are too high. If you see an item you like they will quote a ridiculous price. Walk around the store. Say you are thinking about it. Prepare to leave and then suddenly a "manager" will approach you and offer you a "magical price". You will get a HUGE discount.

Nice demonstration of the papyrus process with real material and in any language, you can also buy a nice giveaway. Offcourse you need to bargain the prices to get a good deal, but people are very friendly and the place has a lot to choose from

Nice place to view the ancient history of Egypt. However, one thing I dislike is the payment of $1(USD) to use the restrooms (toilets) per person after you have paid for clearance to visit the site. This needs to be reviewed as it is not fair.

It's a good place to visit and see the history of papyrus. They explained & showed me how this paper is made from the special plant stem. If we cut and leave the stem in water for too long the paper will be dark, if we leave it for a shorter period it will be light in colour. After that the stems are let to dry in the sun. One way to identify a real papyrus and fake one is the real will have both horizontal and vertical stripes, whereas the fake one will have either vertical or horizontal stripes. If you fold the real papyrus it will not break and there will be no marks but whereas the fake one will break and have marks. They have variety types of design in these you can have for a single person, family, couples, father son, mother son, brother related design.they even have the one which if u switch off the light will glow in dark. These papyrus designs are available in various colours, type, sizes design. You can have names engraved on these in Egyptian alphabet. They will hand it over to you all the details as required. The one I bought has Egyptian Calendar in it. It shows 12 months, 24 hours in a day.various seasons, and various horoscopes in it. I got this one for my family. You can put it in a photo frame and post it. It will last a lifetime. Make sure you have some good Bargaining skills.

We were here as part of a tour. Friendly service and good sales pitch. Way overpriced and designs all a little flashy. The got somewhat aggressive when we didn't buy.

  • 4/5 Samson G. 5 months ago on Google
Offers original papyrus, and has almost all classical Egyptian paintings. Upon buying they give you papers which you can present to customs at the airport. They also offer special artworks that glow in the dark!

The place is OK. Price varies as per customer pocket for the same item.

This place has great displays and the staff provide good explanations of the history.Only downside is the scam of quoting you in Egyptian pound and once they have printed they charge in USD

  • 2/5 Alex W. 1 year ago on Google
Heavy on pushing a sale, then upselling what you agree on. There are some really nice pictures in there so it's a shame the majority of the experience is spent haggling

They don’t even deserve 1star , they will scam foreigners with high prices. I had a very bad experience with them . Me and my friend bought 2 papyrus which they charged more than 100$ each . On next day we have seen same papyrus for less than 25$ in other store. When we went back for refund they said they don’t have refund policy, and explained us some kind of fake story, we asked them straight and after a long discussion they agreed to refund . But the payment Machine failed to refund our transactions. And again they just made up other fake story by saying something is wrong with machine and they don’t know how to process it. These people are running this business in order to scam foreigners . They don’t even care about you once the payment made. I don’t recommend anyone to buy From this store. I wish I could have given less than one star.

Very informative session for the papyrus paper history but the fact that they kinda hustle you to buy at least their product is a turn off for me. I dont mind if they asked us to pay ticket to listen to the explanation. Was even thinking to tip 20usd because I like the detailed explanation and experience. Unfortunately we have to buy the product that we don't really want for 20usd. Bye2 to the tips 😅.

Had a ball learning about the first paper, watching the process, and viewing the many works of art on display. The atmosphere was relaxed, professional, informative, and fun for my family. The people are kind and there was no pressure to buy anything although we couldn't help but to bring a few things home.

Place is good with good explanation of Egypt culture and paper making process... But the prices are bit expensive to loot tourists

  • 5/5 Jena H. 1 year ago on Google

Now this place is interesting, the products are if it is true that they are the real papers made the same ancient way. But it is kind of pricey. If you want something for youraelf, ok go ahead but make sure you have enough money if you intend tk buy gifts from this place.

  • 1/5 Ian R. 2 years ago on Google
Taken here on an unscheduled stop on a private tour for some "forced shopping" - tour guides will get commission from purchases made here hence why it's pricey. I walked straight out after the short (1-2 mins) papyrus making demonstration and didn't have any issues.

Definitely not a museum. It's more of a shop with aggressive salespeople. Overall it's an okayish experience. There s nothing old in this place to be called museum. They make and sell papyrus at a very very high rates.

  • 4/5 Winged 2 years ago on Google
Felt more like a shop than a museum. We weren't shown any old pieces, just the creation technique then told everything is half price. They say papyrus is under government monopol and give you an official stamp that it's real papyrus.you can find cheaper pieces but indeed, I couldn't tell you if it was the real thing. They also told us everything was half off that day - which could be a sales technique. They also have free books about Islam in several languages. There's only one big room. They can write your names in hieroglyphics in the pieces you buy, for free. Guidance in several languages is available. Visit was included in a day tour.

Everything is very nice here, but take care at the prices. They charge very much just because they are saying that have original products. For example we paid 175$ for 4 papyrus 3, of them with personal names written, and in other place in Luxor, for 3 pieces A4 size, also personalized, we had a great deal at the store Green Door for 400 egiptian pounds (23$), because we bought more products. Guides go in such places with you if you say that is your first time in Egypt, because they get commissions too from your shopping amount.

This place has a huge collection of papayrus paintings. They also tell you how papayrus is made, the history behind it and how to spot fake papayrus paintings that you get in cairo. Please don't agree to the price that is displayed and do a hard bargain on everything that you want to buy. They would say everything is 50% off and make you feel you are getting a good price but everything is inflated by multiple times so if you are in a group or buying multiple paintings make sure you bargain good. We got a painting displayed at 3500 EGP for 600 EGP each for 2 paintings.
