I’d like to preface my review with the fact my family has been coming here my whole life… that being said, I will never eat here again. I came here in August 2021 and ended up at the ER with severe food poisoning and had to get out on an IV because of how dehydrated I was. My husband was in disbelief that his favorite alfies caused this, and to bust the myth he ate my leftovers…. Only to get food poisoning from it as well. Luckily I was sent home with anti nausea medication, so he didn’t get it quite as bad as I did. I’m scarred for life and so sad that our once favorite restaurant landed me in the hospital. Definitely won’t be eating there again.

I can't believe that I've never eaten here. Alfies has been around for years but this is the first time I've come here. It came recommended by Family and boy I couldn't agree with them more. We were a party of nine which included four kids. They don't take reservations and we were a bit concerned about our wait on a Saturday night. Surprisingly it didn't take that long to be seated. Pretty quickly they came and asked for drink orders. Then gave us a few minutes to read the menu. I heard they have really good hamburgers so decided to order a basic cheeseburger. It was delicious! The beef was definitely fresh ground and freshly cooked. The hamburger was so big I had to cut it in half for another day. I also got a side salad which was extremely fresh and crisp, unlike so many other salads that are warm and wilted. I got the salad because I wanted to try the homemade garlic dressing. Delish!! We also had an order of fried mushrooms for our appetizer. Pretty good. Most of us had burgers but two folks did get the barbecue ribs. The ribs looked good. I might try them next time. Service wasn't bad for a Saturday evening. Our server did get a few things wrong but she corrected them immediately. Again mistakes happen but I truly think it's great when people step up. This is an old-time place. Nothing super fancy. But really good food. A great family casual place. Love it! I will return.

Have lived in Florida for last 15 years and couldn't wait to have our Alfie's again! Burgers were fantastic, fries great and plentiful and breaded fried mushrooms the absolute best anywhere! Thanks for still being in Glen Ellyn!

Cute American restaurant that has been around for a long time. The service is okay, but the food is great. A burger and fries is my go-to and it is always good. I've also tried the potato skins, and they are really excellent. Crispy and cheesy with bacon and scallions. They're served with a side of sour cream and jalapenos.

The service and atmosphere were great. The food, not so much. We went because of their reputation for burgers. One of us got a burger that was raw on the inside - not medium or even rare, completely raw. The fries were also underdone and soggy for all 4 of us.

Actually, it's quite nice. Quick, friendly service with very fresh and wide variety on the menu. There wasn't too much to choose from, like those restaurants that make everything - okay. Here, each of our plates was very tasty. From the appetizers to the main course(s): tuna melt, burger, grilled salmon salad. Great dressing choices too!

The service was rather poor. Our waiter did not bring anything without us asking multiple times. A party member showed up later and never got a water until he asked. I asked for a refill at the same time of my water and it never came until I asked him again 8 minutes later, after the waiter was done joking and chit chatting with another table for some time. I have no issue with joking and chit chatting, but it should not come at the expense of the service to other tables. I ordered the fish fry, and the waiter brought me ribs. This is something he should have caught at the window. So everyone had their food at my table before me, no biggie, accidents happen. Then they bring be the fish fillets, which are somehow burnt on the outside but ice cold in the center! I couldn't actually bite all the way through one of them, because it was legitimately still frozen. I waited over 15 minutes with no food while my table ate and then they all had to watch me eat alone. I went with my girlfriend and her parents, who have been Alfie's patrons for over 30 years, even at the old location. They said it was also the worst service they've ever had here. I eventually got edible food, and it was fine when it came. No offer of comp for an appetizer or my fish was offered, and honestly I'm not usually one to think I deserve something like that but tonight I feel it was warranted. I'm giving them 2 stars instead of one because previous experiences have been average but not exceptional, and but nothing ever as bad as tonight.

We’ve been going to this place since they opened almost 60 years ago. You’re not going to find a better burger in the area. I had the steak for a change and it was delicious.

Loved the burger. Lettuce and tomato come on the side as I like it. The blu cheese was great. Cooked perfectly medium rare. Our waitress Erin was also very nice. Thank you

I can see how this place might be charming to the locals that have been around as long as it has been. But Alfies is not good food. Across their expansive menu, those in the know only recommend “only get the burger” and “get a vodka soda”. I don’t get the burger. How willing are you to roll the dice? I won’t be, again.

Great service and the food is delicious! I am fond of the interior decor which makes the dining area a relaxing and inviting place to enjoy a scrumptious meal. The decor also makes this place overall clean and welcoming. I look forward to returning.

A family favorite since the 70s. The excellent service and food have not changed in the slightest over the years. The onion rings remain the best we have ever had.

Alfie's Inn is a long time staple of Glen Ellyn known for their excellent burgers and huge portions of Onion Ring and Potato Skin appetizers. Can't go wrong with any of the burgers! Their daily soups are pretty good as well.

Alfie's is a great lunch spot. They seated us immediately and took our orders quickly. Our server was so friendly amazingly attentive, and our lunch items proved undeniably delicious. Happy-belly achieved! 🍽️🙂

Great food and drinks. Burgers and wings are terrific. The fried zucchini is amazing as well. Good service in a unique atmosphere with European and medieval decor. Everything has always been consistently good here.

Old school but not old fashioned. Had lunch on a rainy Saturday, fish and chips were better than most places - rare to have non-frozen, freshly battered fish. Frozen glass steins of New Belgium dark lager from a pitcher added to the experience, and a Reuben sandwich was also enjoyed by my fellow diner.

Old-school burger tavern. Good burgers & giod vslue. Love the onion rings. I'd guess they make other foods well. However, I'm not in the area enough to test, LOL!

5 stars on the food alone! Best onion rings I've ever had and my burger was perfect. Garlic ranch sauce is amazing!

It was okay, we were seated outside on the patio. I was shocked that they had no oil and vinegar for my friends salad. We both ordered from the gluten free menu, asked Hostess if the prices were correct. I was told by the hostess the prices correct. I ordered the pork chop hold the Cole slaw as I am allergic to egg, baked potato came with sour cream and butter, that was my fault. I forgot to say hold the dairy but on the side. Apple sauce on the side. Waitress was new we had to go into to ask for more water. Then bill came not the correct price manager? owner, then adjusted it, but gave us some bad attitude. I remember when I was here before about 10 years ago, my friends meal was wrong but owner then was nice and respectful and took the entire thing off the bill. I went to the bathroom then overheard owner/manager talking to bartender about US. Very disrespectful and to argue with use over price, when the menu was wrong, I am sorry but menus need to say prices are subject to change without notice. It does not say that either on regular menu checked another customer's menu. I will make the trip to Simon's in Villa Park, IL further east on Roosevelt Road. Simon's has much better service and much better attitude.

It was my first time there and my friend knows I love a good hamburger so she took me there. I was not disappointed, the hamburger was the best. We had zucchini as a side and that was excellent too. I for sure will make the trip back to Alfies

Went with my family and 3 kids. Peanut oil is not used. This was the first time coming here in 20 plus years. Prices were reasonable. Portions were decent. Hot food was hot and cold food was cold. We had burgers, a Reuben, and fish. All was good and everyone left full and satisfied. The burgers were freshly ground and had a terrific texture. There were a few TVs and at least 2 suits of armor. We will come back when we go to Cantigny. These are the types of local businesses that deserve to be supported.

Phenomenal Service. The Fish Fry Friday is $14 AYCE with coleslaw and a side. I did find the breading to be a little too hard. for my liking. Overall, a solid fish fry.
