Very average food and not great service. Save your money and go elsewhere, lots of places that are friendly and want your service. Everything seemed rushed and the food was certainly not worth the price. $26 for 2 pieces of cold ravioli is a crazy ask considering how many places are desperate for patrons. After our drinks had been delivered and food order places no one checked in, didn’t even get to order another drink. Scallops were not fresh, Brie was not melted and was completely drowned in a very sweet blueberry sauce. We would have stayed for another drink but had no one even checked in on us, not even to offer water. We left hungry and wished we had gone somewhere else alone Scarborough road. A shame especially because we both understand how difficult it’s been for businesses over the last few months but only really have themselves to blame here. Would not recommend and won’t be going again.

Attended for our anniversary dinner which we stated when booking 3 weeks in advance. Arrived and waited as it was very busy. Guy with glasses (manager?) comes up, doesn't greet us just tells us to move to the side and let the people who literally just arrived through before us. Proceeds to sit us on some uncomfortable bar chairs at the back of the room. Lasted 10 minutes , before asking to move. The waitress put on a table with actual chairs. Apart from the poor service from the manager (?), the food was good, ambience good and waitresses were attentive.

They have a great range of vegan options on their menu, including this incredible gnocchi dish. The gnocchi are pan fried and have a delicious crunchy crust on the outside, and are soft and pillowy in the middle (chewy gnocchi is a pet peeve of mine!!). Served with an amazing pumpkin and chestnut puree, crispy sage, sweet roasted onion and vegan parmesan - both my partner and I rated this as the best gnocchi we’ve ever had! 👏🏻 We also tried their roasted carrot dish which was also delicious and had a nice spicy kick to it. They even have a vegan dessert on their menu, which is an Orange and Lavender Cheesecake. The cashew and coconut based cheesecake was rich and creamy, with a citrus flavour and just a hint of lavender. It was also served with a scoop of blood orange sorbet, which was a great fresh contrast to the rich cheesecake. Overall I could not fault any of these dishes 👏🏻 The drinks menu is also impressive, with a long list of unique cocktails (pictured is the “Thyme 4 a Margarita”).

Full of fake reviews written by bots this place is horrible for food but a great bar, Don't come here for dinner or food at all, just come to have drinks you'll be a very happy chappy. We paid $39 for a 150gram steak it's not even wagyu or scotch fillet, its a cheap cut of flank steak cut into 5 tiny pieces, it came without chips or salad, the $31 meatballs came in set of 5 with overly salted sauce, very lean meat, I have a feeling they don't sell a lot of these and it's already off, causing me to have diarrhoea straight after dinner. Disgusting place for food , horrible restaurant, but as a bar, it's good. Just go there for drinks. order the cheese and ham platter as they cannot make mistakes on those, stay away from any of the kitchen prepared Food!!!

Very cozy restaurant and lovely atmosphere and decor. The food equally good with share plates bigger than the usual and delicious! Staff very nice and attentive. Definitely will be back to try the rest of the menu!

Lovely food (the wedges were such a hit we ordered a second round), great drinks (particularly the mulled wine), INCREDIBLE desserts and exceedingly tolerant staff, who patiently waited for us to finish chattering away (and then said goodnight again in the carpark outside because we were still talking!)

We had the most amazing food tonight, celebrating our 8 year anniversary. The food was so delectable, moreish and presented perfectly. The vegan gnocchi was pillowy soft and with a velvety smoothe, subtle pumpkin chestnut sauce which didn't over power the gnocchi. The charred carrot dish was picture perfect and was bursting with flavour, one of my favs. Their brussel sprout and cauliflower cheese was simple but effective in delivering a burst of delectable goodness with every bite. The vegan cheesecake dessert and sorbet was to die for, with hints of citrus/blood orange and every flavour complimented each other, it was very well balanced. The staff/owner were very friendly and welcoming, and the view was amazing. A really enjoyable night, I would definitely recommend this place, especially to vegans looking for an affordable, high quality culinary experience.

Love it everytime we go to the cabin, the restaurant is warm and inviting, plenty of seating inside and out, however I would recommend booking online if your deciding to go there on the weekend, the menu is OMG delicious!!! It has such a great selection and it's always changing so we always look forward to something new when we haven't been in a while. The share plates are a good size for two and they have a good selection of beverages available. The staff are welcoming, friendly and professional. We are never disappointed when we go to the cabin it’s a great place Definitely recommend!

Always a great spot. Very friendly service. Delicious food with a seasonal menu, so it's nice to try something new every time. Great cocktails and a good wine list.

The Cabin has lost the intimacy of its previous incarnation. Way too many staff, checking in way too often. Very few people there for a Friday afternoon, yet we were seated inside instead of on the balcony on a beautiful day? The manager was pacing around anxiously. No vibe. And expensive. Won’t be going back.

Good food in the heart of Mt Hawthorne. Great portion sizes, attentive staff and a decent beer selection. People watching from the balcony is recommended.

A table of 8 and we were so delighted with the lovely Margarita’s. The glass was full so top marks to the bar staff as we’re all sick of getting cocktails that don’t come to the top. The service is quick, friendly and efficient and best of all you can get a number when you order on large tables and just pay for your own. The food is very good especially the croquettes with dukkah, they were outstanding. We were inside which is noisy but the atmosphere is great. Would be lovely on the balcony in summer. Make sure to book

I was recommended the restaurant/bar by a friend. Was a great experience, we sat outside on the balcony. I was offered a blanket if I needed and there were outside heaters too. Service was great, delicious healthy dishes to chose from. Parking was easy in the street. Will definitely return.

The Cabin is labelled a small bar, but it’s actually pretty big by some small bar standards… and that’s a really really good thing, because you are going to want to nab a table here! Cosy atmosphere, relaxed vibe, great service (from the owner himself it seemed) and delicious food. We opted for the lunch board, sampling a few different options and it was the perfect amount of food at a reasonable price. My mouth is watering right now just thinking back! We’ll definitely be back, maybe during a cold winter night for full effect

Fun service and good food. Had a great evening for our staff Christmas dinner to celebrate the end of 2022. Sara was our primary waitperson and was great fun. Nothing seemed too much effort even with one of our allergies. After many years this place is still a great fun location with fantastic interior and good food.

I originally gave this place a 5/5 6 months ago. I used to come here every 2 or 3 weeks. The food was amazing, especially the ravioli. Came here recently, the menu seems to have changed, not extremely but enough to notice a difference with a few dishes. The ravioli is no longer on the menu. The dessert I had was a banana mousse dish. It honestly tasted like muesli mixed with yoghurt and a few bits of bacon - felt like I was eating breakfast as dessert.

We tried this place as we saw it in the entertainment book. First off, the promotion was a main course offer (2 for 1). We ordered three items in the $28+ range and one $19, they chose to take off the cheapest item, a bit unexpected considering we ordered a lot for 2 people. Service was good and portion size was reasonable as we had plenty for the two of us. The food was ok, we ordered 4 dishes and enjoyed one, the other 3 I personally did not like as I found them bland and the texture was not the most pleasant. However, we noticed that all the dishes we ordered did not match the components on the menu at all. Apart from the protein listed on the menu, every other component was different (e.g. listed pickled pair and received bean sprouts, tomato relish and received beetroot etc.). I checked my partner's menu as I thought I might have gotten an older version but his was the same. This is misleading as people can only order food based off what the menu describes, not what you feel like doing that day. Additionally, this is dangerous, and the lack of transparency and honesty can be detrimental for people with certain allergies. If eating here, I would double check what is going in the dish before ordering it.

Went in for dinner and was seamlessly guided to a corner nook out on the balcony. This place is popular, so make sure to book in advance. I felt like you could sit anywhere and still have a great night. Ask the waiter for recommendations, so happy with our entrees and we ended up sharing a main in the end. Reluctantly left even though the dessert options were epic, I'll be back soon to try those 🤤

Horrific experience. Had to wait 45 mins for table water. An outdoor table of about 30 that came 30 mins after us for food before us. Wrote nut allergy on booking, let each wait person know and two dishes came with nuts (had to take medication) when we brought it up just got an "oh sorry". Ended up needed by further medication at home - just got told the lady would tell a manager... don't go if expecting good service

Family dinner at the Cabin tonight. We have been many times before and always enjoy the atmosphere. Great food and Alf and his team went out of their way to make it a great evening for a family birthday. We will definitely return again.

A bar where everyone remembers your name. No flaws, everything is clockwork precision. A wonderful establishment. Warm comfortable bar to unwind. Love it!

Probably about the best atmosphere in a small bar out there. Tapas-like food if that's your thing... The mulled wine is amazing in the colder months.

On a Friday night, it took 25mins to receive drinks after ordering and we were never asked for more. Service staff were busy and there was only two barmen going as fast as they could. Food and drinks however were delicious. It was just soured by disappointing service. I can see this place being great on a more quieter time of day. But avoid at peak time.

Cosy little setting with a well decorated interior. Staff were very pleasant. Food and drinks came out quick. The food was definitely the highlight with very tasty share plates.

The drinks menu was varied and good value for money with a huge variety of choice! The menu was amazing, so many choices picking just one was hard. The food was well presented and came out in a very timely manner. The service was absolutely amazing. Check my account, you will see I have been quite a number of places, and I rank this as one of the very best! I do highly recommend a light meal, or a social occasion with friends!

I've been here before and really enjoyed it, so I organised my partners birthday here. We were a large group of 16 with a lot of different drinks and meals. They were really busy for a Wednesday night but they handled everything perfectly. The food was all amazingly tasty and had a great selection of drinks. One of the best places around town. Such amazing atmosphere and chill vibes

Wanted to check out the cabin for a while. Was a very chilled spot for lunch on the balcony, the service was great and the meals were delicious. Some good vegan options 😁

👍👍 Been in this more than once over an ongoing period. Highly recommended as a unique bookshop cafe. Morning teas and cake great. Great concept of a cafe with bookshop. Plenty of other venues to explore in area too. Great access to public transport.
