We are so happy that the BOB is back open. We were heading to see a show upstairs at Dr. Grins. When going online, to Open Table , it looked as though every table was booked at the two restaurants that are serving right now. However, upon getting a hold of somebody at the service desk, I was told that the Open Table app does not apply. The downside is I think a lot of people aren't utilizing the fabulous restaurants that are back open to eat there because they assume that all the tables are booked. Lucky for us, we called ahead and discovered this wasn't true. I highly suggest that this is updated in their system , as to not lose future customers. We miss the hay days of the Bob when it was packed with all ages and served magnificent food and was hopping on every floor. It was our go-to when we had people visiting from out of town. There was something there for everybody. We ended up having a terrific meal at Bob's Brewery. Our appetizer was cheese roulette, the secret being two or three jalapeno cheese stuffed bites! These were fried to perfection. They did not disappoint. We also asked for the barbecued mac and cheese which we had served deconstructed. The noodles were cooked perfect and the meat was so tender. The barbecue sauce was amazing and we probably should have had it served the way they normally do. We'd like to say thank you to our bartender,Rip! He seems to have been a stable in the building off and on throughout the years. We reminisced about the different food and restaurants that have been there, and he is crossing his fingers along with us, to see the BOB come back to its previous glory.

Great place to enjoy the night life in Grand rapids. The stand up comedy is stellar, the pizza is bomb, and the beer choice is incredible. Big crowds but well managed by caring staff.

We typically try to eat BBQ when traveling. The side of Mac n cheese was delicious, as well as the drinks. We ordered the platter and it was supposed to feed 2. Thankfully we ordered a side of burnt ends but as you see a lot of them were all fat. The brisket needed more seasoning and the corn bread needed to be cooked a little longer. Shocked that there was no southern style desserts for a BBQ restaurant. We will not be returning!

On a Saturday night, we waited downstairs in the brewery for about an hour before our table for 4 at The Smoke House was ready. The BBQ was not what I'm used to down South. The brisket was badly fatty and overcooked, although very tasty. The chicken was dry and the skin was so crispy I think it was deep-fried. The pulled pork was really tasty and the best meat on the Sampler Platter. The 4 sauces were a huge disappointment. The grilled bread was super-thick, well grilled, and double thick - possibly the best part of my dinner!! The steakhouse and American burger/pizza place might be better, and the live entertainment was just warning up when we left - but I really don't think I'd return it I was given the choice.

Highly recommend checking this place out. Has a great variety of bars inside that serve all age groups. Did not have any food but from the looks of the place the food would most likely be top notch. The patio is a great place to hangout on a cooler day and the bar in the basement area has corn hole and looked like possibly beer pong.

I love this place! Live bands! Different bars for different people! Women typically don't have a cover charge. It's very hard to get a drink at the Eve but I drink downstairs because it's pointless to bring your drink on the dance floor. The bathroom is usually clean. The bartenders are nice but direct because its busy. I love the diversity this place brings. I've never had the food. But the wine is great!

Entry bouncer, nice space. Mixed materials with intimate lighting (not dark). Comedy show quality depends on who's playing. Most dress in dinner attire, with belts. Alcohol served to each table with bar eats.

First time back since COVID. Forgot how much fun this place is. Saw a comedy show. Had a few drinks. You could easily spend your whole night here.

A quick hello before a show, an evening of multilevel adventure, a last dance on a goodnight, this building has something for everyone! I’m so glad this GR monument is breathing it’s beat! West MI wouldn’t be H.O.M.E with out it!

I was very excited to hear about the BOB reopening. It was advertised like there were many updates to the building and venue’s. The big change I seen that is a positive is the automated drink dispenser. The cashless sounded interesting to. Now seeing it I believe it just makes things slower and if I had to guess the employees end up with lower tips. Another big change was the wall they took down to open up HOME. This has really made the space less of its own area and the lighting was so bright who wants to dance when it’s bright as day in there. Speaking of dancing if you go there for the DJ don’t plan on hearing top 40. Plan on more of a wedding reception playlist. On the second floor the DJ/dance floor didn’t even have lighting. I was very disappointed to see they did not do general maintenance to the facility. The floors in the main areas are still in terrible condition so if you wear heels beware. The bathrooms are still having plumbing issues and the basement bathroom is still a steam room. Everything that was in poor condition before they closed still appears to be in the same condition from what I could see. Don’t get me wrong still a fun place to go if you set your expectation accordingly.

Annual weekend trip to Grand Rapids and went to the B.O.B. for craft beers and dinner. Ordered the brisket mac & cheese - TERRIBLE. No cheese, just plain noodles and fatty meat. WAY OVER PRICED. Craft beer was good, but don't waste your money on the food. - much better places to eat at downtown! And heads up - the waitress automatically hands you your bill with a 25% gratuity

Beer was delicious. Had the hopsun and st. John. My husband and I aren't ipa ppl but it was a great recommendation by Abby. Abby was our server upstairs and answered all our questions. She was so attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. We didn't have food. Kid friendly. Fun atmosphere. Has wheelchair/stroller accessibility.

Update: January 2022. Sorry to hear it closed. Update July 2022: I heard it might be re-opening. Hope it's true. _______________________________________________________________________ We went there during Art Prize 2021 and it was filled with goodies everywhere on all the floors. I had never been in the basement level. Kinda dark and basement-like and the bathroom wood door had a piece of wood that was raised up and it snagged my sweater but I'm not complaining. It felt like an adventure just being in this old building. We grabbed a beer at the big oval bar on the main level and had them put a walkabout sticker on it and off we went. I approve of this place.

It was nice to check this place out, but I won't go back. The food LOOKS amazing, but it is very underwhelming. We ordered the brisket sliders and the fish and chips. Honesty, both dishes had the ability to be really delicious. The fish was not seasoned AT ALL - even some salt would have helped. The chips were not even fries, they were fingerling potatoes that were also underseasoned. The sliders had tasty elements - the bun and the cheese were good. The meat was probably good, but the majority of my meat was just fat. One of my sliders was ONLY a chunk of fat, no actual meat at all. Taking a full bite of that legitimately made me gag. Thankfully that was my last one, because I literally couldn't eat another bite after that. Disgusting. The service was.... okay. The beer was okay but they don't even have a draft list. Our server also couldn't tell me what was on draft, but wanted to help me pick by asking me 'what kind of beer do you like?' instead. The atmosphere was casual and fun like a sports bar. There are tv's up around that bar.

Had to order at Host stand before being seated. Not very busy, wasn’t sure if that was a good sign or not. Had to go to a separate bar for drinks (water) Spinach artichoke dip didnt have taste, pita chips were good. Pizza was better but small for $15 Experienced some harassment from teens on a field trip during art prize. (Sign said we couldnt open the shutters)

Bob looks so much different then prior to Covid. All 2 floors are mostly bars. I liked the addition of ping pong tables, outdoor patio. Crowded with 20 something kids. Seems like HOME is where the older crowd (not too many) was at on Saturday night.

Great spot! Lots going on, easy to meet people, fun vibe. Security can be a little rude and the basement is a little gross but still 5 stars from me. Popular place, fun guaranteed

Best place in town. Such a versatile venue with four floors. A must go if you are in Grand Rapids The staff is incredibly friendly and professional. It is always a good time at the BOB

Great beer, service and food. Always great to see Dave and other bartenders at the Bob. Why they serve beer in plastic cups I have no idea. Plus the price of beer went up 20% from before they reopened. Best reason to go there is it’s directly across from VanAndel that charges astronomic prices for food and beer!?

Came here on Sunday during Artprize. It is indeed a big old building, it's huge inside! I think it's really cool that this place is basically three stories of bars, but not trashy-looking ones either. And it was neat to see the art on display, my favorite was the 3-D illusion one and also the painting of the statue in Daniel's prophecy.

We unfortunately had a bad night here on 8/14/21. We were a large party of 11 so we understand things take time, but our waitress was nonexistent for much of our time there. I had water and when she did come to the table she'd forget to bring me another, I finally went to the bar to get some. Our food took a very long time, missing meals and instead of checking on them, waitress said "well I don't cook the food". Brought out food but no silverware so we sat and stared at our food until she remembered. Manager came to the table and said he'd find the missing meals and they came right after. Food was OK but for the wait, experience and price, we wanted to leave. I had 1/4 pulled pork, good portion but half fat. Elote corn was good and a side of fries could serve 2. Won't eat here again, but B.O.B.s is a great fun place.

We attended the Haunted Hogwarts party at the BOB and had a blast!!! The staff were amazing and so helpful. I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and the BOB crushed the decorations this year! The dragon was so cool!! Can’t wait for next year!!!!! 🎉🎉👻👻

Waited 1 hour and 10 minutes to get inside. Can go through front or back door - both have lines to wait in. Once I got up to the door, was told I needed a smaller bag. Didn't realize there was bag size regulations. You will be scanned and bags will be searched. Multiple floors of drinking and dancing. Still definitely packed person to person regardless of how big it is. Very good drinks. Didn't try the food. Staff were nice and helpful. They closed around 1:30am....on a Saturday night. Kind of an overrated place, but still fun. Just come early enough so you're inside longer than the wait line.

The Bob is always a great time! Awesome atmosphere and caring staff. We loved the Halloween party and everything it had to offer from live music, dancing, and good drinks! Definitely will be going again next year:)

Disappointing Halloween Party Experience I recently attended a Halloween party and unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. The first issue I encountered was the long line to get in. It seemed that they only had one person checking IDs, causing a significant delay in the entry process. This lack of efficiency was quite frustrating. Once inside, I noticed that there were multiple levels with different DJs playing. While this may sound exciting, it actually felt disjointed and chaotic. The music clashed, and it was challenging to find a consistent atmosphere throughout the venue. It would have been better if there was a clear theme or flow to the music selection. One of the main attractions of the party was the Halloween contest, but unfortunately, it fell flat. The contest lacked creativity and excitement, leaving attendees feeling underwhelmed. It would have been great to see more effort put into organizing a captivating and engaging competition. Another issue I encountered was the lack of visible staff. It seemed as though there was a lack of organization and supervision. This absence of staff made it difficult to address any concerns or seek assistance when needed, leaving attendees feeling unsupported. The pricing for the event was also a letdown. Considering the overall experience, the ticket price felt unreasonably high. It's disheartening to pay a premium for an event that didn't deliver on its promises. Lastly, the venue itself was not up to par. It lacked the necessary ambiance and atmosphere to create an immersive Halloween experience. This aspect greatly impacted the overall enjoyment of the party. Based on my experience, I would not recommend attending this Halloween party. The long lines, lackluster contest, absent staff, and overpriced tickets took away from what should have been a memorable event. I believe there are better options available for Halloween parties in the area, and I will be exploring those options in the future.

Go somewhere else. Small menu, downtown prices, nothing was a hit in our group of 10. Sandwiches all bread no meat, appetizers were all lackluster, microbrews were just ok. Service was good but it was pretty dead on a friday night and now its apparent why

Amazing restaurant with great food selections and very nice waiters and waitresses. They have a wide variety and selection of foods and drinks if you may be looking for something not found at other places. Very great place to eat at, I recommend eating there at least once.

A large BBQ spot with a pretty big draft beer selection, including many local brews. The food, or at least what I had, was so-so. The brisket was very dry. It’s a good thing they had 6 kinds of BBQ sauce or it would’ve been very difficult to eat. The Mac and cheese was soupy and goopy. Service was friendly, but it was a slow night and it felt like they were distracted. Not horrible, but I don’t think I’ll return.

We were seated quickly when we arrived around 7pm on a Saturday night. Waitress introduced herself within minutes and took our drink orders and delivered shortly thereafter. Our appetizers (corn bread and deviled egg) were both amazing. We had ordered 2 of the samples and a 1/2 pound of brisket for dinner. All the food was great and plenty for the 4 of us. The quickly fixed an issue on one of the samplers (burnt ends vs brisket). This was our first visit and will definitely be returning!

I came for their barbecue but when I saw they had Great Lakes' Walleye on the menu I took a chance and ordered it. Amazing, the best Walleye I've ever had, with a great presentation in an awesome ambiance; especially during these crazy times, made me smile more than I have in a long time:)!

Awesome smoked meats! Definitely worth a visit. Not sure what’s up with the poor reviews. This place has had a bit of an identity crisis over the years, but it’s finally found itself. The chicken thighs are super juicy and the spoon cornbread is my new obsession. Pair it with a beer that’s brewed in-house, and you’ve got the perfect meal. So delish!

My husband and I came here for the first time tonight.I had the peanut butter Porter which was amazing as always. my husband had the Manhattan which was a little sweet for his taste, but I liked it. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was great and the drinks were fantastic!

I feel like if you're really from GR you have visited the B.O.B a couple times in your time here. It's mostly a Young crowd but there are some more mature women and men there as well. I personally go there for dr.grins which is the same always its fun still but I recently went to a late show and it was DEAD! There were maybe 14-15 of us to show. The show wasn't good either. But I think once people realize the bob and dr grins are back up and going it will be back to Some type of normal as it was in the past...but things change so hopefully people won't forget.

This is my second night on their first weekend reopening and I must say it is a fun place to come with your friends. That is if you manage to get in within a reasonable time. You either get here early or you’re waiting out side for about an hour. Other than that I love the cashless bars. The drinks are good and the atmosphere is fun!

  • 5/5 Develop With D. 2 years ago on Google
Went to Dr Grins. Had good food and drinks. Service is a little slow due to the mass amounts of people. Visited another bar just for a drink and enjoyed. Will come back very often! Love this place.

Got the lamb and the steak Oscar. Both dishes were really good but pretty pricey and portions were not huge. Worth going but expect to spend around 100 for a couple.
