Wow, this is an extraordinary beautiful opera theatre. From the outside it is already extremely beautiful but in the I side it is even more beautiful. I strongly recommend visiting it and getting a tour of around an hour. They have guides that speak English well. The price of the ticket is only 20 real. The last English tour was at 16:45 on the day we visited. The month January is the only month in the year that there are no shows so be aware if you are planning a trip to Manaus, in this month the artists have holiday. The tour is incredible nice because you see both the opera room and its art but also other rooms with art and history of the building. I strongly recommend visiting the theatre if you are in Manaus.

Outstanding theater built in 1896 and with a gorgeous architecture. A must-see in the Amazon region. The air conditioning works perfectly and the place is very pleasant overall.

An opera house that boasts is the first place in Latin America to have running electricity. It has a strange composition of materials from all around the world. It is known for the beautiful theater interior. It undergoes refurbishment in January through early Februrary, with shows from February through December and tours year-round. It is well-known for its incredible dome with the colors of the national flag, its vibrant pink facade, chandeliers from Italy, and beautiful paintings.

The jewel of Manaus, and it is indeed. Just seeing it from outside is not enough, trust me. Make sure to book a guided tour. In weekdays they happen every hour or so, and cost 20 reais full price, with student discounts available. Totally worth it. The interior is amazing and the place is full of interesting stories. It lasts between 40 and 50 minutes in total. Make sure to enjoy the restaurants around it in the city center.

We visited here on April 21st, Tiradentes holiday. They opened until 13:00. If you go there with official personal Manaus tour guide, you can enter any time, you don’t need to join the tour that is defined each 30 minutes. It was amazing theater. They are constructed by the material from several European countries. We can know that people respected Amazon forecast when they established this theater. By the easy, there is a model of theater made by LEGO block. Kids also enjoyed here.

"Teatro amazonia", Amazonas theater, the old opera house built between 1884-1896, during the rubber golden age of Manaus, full of imported rich decoration, with European style. In recent years it came back to be cultural center for Manaus.

It is such a beautiful architecture even amazing from outside. It catches your attention immediately. Unfortunately it is public holiday, I do not have chance to visit it. But it is definitely a place must go for everyone who is at Manaus.

This theater has a majestic pink facade and its center a large dome covered with colorful octagonal tiles. Although, the styles don't match, one being Renaissance, and the other looks as a mix of Muslim dome with Brazilian flag colors, the shear size of the all structure and its uniqueness is well noted and its appealing to the sight

Absolutely incredible place. A must see place when you are visiting Manaus. A lot of history and an amazing atmosphere inside. Furthermore an iconic place based of the movie Fitzcarraldo.

Let me tell you…… This theatre gives us an insight in the grandiose past of Manaus and the elitism in this part of the world. When you look around one can imagine just sitting on the balconies thinking and forget that you are in the middle of the Brazilian Amazon that outside those big and beautiful doors there’s a complete different world and it’s humid and hot. This place is so enchanting and amazing, I feel so privileged to be here and hoping that in the near future I will bring my grandchildren so they can appreciate it. I’ve decided to return next year!!!!

Interesting architecture. Pressed for time so just showed up and got on a tour in Portuguese. Unsure of what you visit on the entire tour but the first stop is the main hall of the theater which is quite opulent. Tour cost only $4 USD with 50% off for over 60, Accept credit cards. Would come again.

Beautifully restored opera house, which dates from the rubber boom around 1900, when the city's elite tried to make Manaus into a tropical Paris. It's the most important landmark in the city. Today it's used for cultural events of many kinds.

Impressive architecture and with a good guide an amazing history lesson too. It is incredible what humankind can do when they put their minds to it.

An old theatre in the city of Manaus with rich cultural history. It is a masterpiece of architecture and is still functional hosting shows still now.

I do not recommend this place to go to enjoy the Opera or any other performance. It's a scam, a ripped off. Sits on the first, second and third floor are a scam. Only the first two people who sits in the front will be able to see and enjoy the performance. Any other people seated behind won't be able to see anything. You will have to stand up to be able to see the performers. Staff at the ticket box do not explain how sits are distributed, they only sell the tickets. Do not recommend this place. Maybe those who are seated in the ground floor have better chance to enjoy the show but I won't be going there again.

Lovely Theater. They even offer guided tours, both in Portuguese and in English. Highly recommend. As a student you can get a discount on the tour.

The Amazonas Theater is truly an amazing place. With its rich history, captivating architecture, and vibrant cultural significance, it embodies the spirit of the Amazonian people. It's undeniably remarkable.

This place is a must visit for anyone looking to feel more about Brazilian culture from the Amazon State. The venue is spacious and the staff organizes well the queues on the spot. When you go to attend an event, make sure to be on the spot an hour before. Depending on the event you might have issues finding a seat.

Great spectacle! The Theatre is gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. The only downside from the front seats is the cushion: there is none.

This is the best guided tour I’ve ever had so far anywhere, to date. Our guide Marcos was super knowledgeable and hilarious. We learned so much about the history of the incredible Teatro Amazonas and about Manaus, lots of facts you wouldn’t learn without a guide, all told with good humour and some great anecdotes. Super easy to organise too (you can just buy tickets when you arrive for R$20 full price with R$10 options for students, seniors etc). The tour was also well timed and didn’t drag on longer than necessary but you never felt crowded or rushed either. Best experience, would highly recommend!

Amazon Theater is a must visit spot if you are visiting Manaus, the most outstanding building in the whole Amazon area. It is beautiful both inside and outside, but you must join a guided tour in order to visit inside. The tour price is reasonable, 20R for adults, but you may need to wait for an hour or so in order to go in, you can wait at the cafe located at the side of the building. The tour guide gives very detailed history and information about the theater, how it went through a very rough time before it was inaugurated in 1896. There is an impressive model that used 30k Legos to build. A small souvenir shop with unique design items, prices are more on the high end side.

A must go in Manaus. There is a a play about it’s history. The guided tour is also great. Try the “tacaca” in one of the restaurants near by. My gifts to improve: * Remove that TV from the stage when not in use (it does not belong there) * Better food/coffee shop would be a nice to have * Promote other attractions near by as everyone goes there but may miss other things around

A great Opera House build in 1896. During the Rubber rush in the Amazon. It's worth it to visit.

Nice tour of the theater house, the ballroom and the adjacent areas Gives a taste of history and the positioning of Manaus as "The Paris" with it's original Brazilian Design but orbated with French, Italian, German art and and tapestries. I haven't heard a concert but notice most of them are *free to attend*

We got an English tour of the place at 10.15 in the morning it costs 20 Reais. Very good tour guide - it was interesting getting the history of the building and understanding the importance being sited at the theatre had for people back then. Didn't get to see any performances but I hear May is a busy month for that.

It is a nice place but It seems expensive for visiting and taking a one hour walk. In fact several visitors preferred to take a picture outside. On the other hand there are nice attractions at nights, I think they worth.

Imagine the Opera Garnier in Paris without as much gold and opulence and this theatre is something close - absolutely amazing and outstanding! Everything has been imported from Europe apart from the timber. The grand waiting room has been designed to imitate the amazon forest. Such a special place in the heart of South America :)
