Stunning place. Chintsa is lovely and we had an amazing view. Only problem was one member of staff - Yolanda, who really kills the vibe. She seems bored and really tries to go out of her way to be unhelpful. Otherwise had a great time here.

What an awesome place. We camped and everything worked well. Sean and team went out of their way to make our stay special. Beach wasn't overcrowded. Will be back asap.

I know Covid has hit hard but the place is tired. Pans in kitchen were filthy, geyser failed, roof leaked badly onto one bed, shower dripped all the time, sofas had thin cushions and well spaced slats making sitting painful. Got wet in the bar which was leaking badly. What raised its rating was the stunning location

I just checked out of Buccaneers and honestly feel like I stayed in a completely different place as the other reviewers. Although the cabin I stayed in was cute, it was way too expensive considering that the shared bathroom is quite a walk away and you aren’t even given towels. There were no activities while I was there. No kayaks, no SUPs, no yoga, and the pool area looked pretty sad. I asked about getting paddle boards and the women at reception told me that they hadn't seen the people that rent them for awhile. The restaurant at the bar was closed and when I enquired about getting dinner, I was told that I had to be in the dining area at 7 pm and they would be serving dinner for R100. I got there at 7 on the dot and was given half a plate of spaghetti with tomato sauce (I asked for a vegetarian option). I was starving so scarfed it down and at 7:20, I asked if I could have some more. I was told that they were waiting for more people. They then called me back up and gave me a 1/4 of a plate more. Meanwhile, there was a group traveling together who were helping themselves to it like it was their buffet and there were mountains of food left. It was pretty obvious that it was their group dinner and the staff thought they could make some extra money (which turned out to be R110 at the end). While I appreciated being able to get food, it felt like I was barging in on a place that I wasn't really welcome and it was very expensive considering how little food I actually got. I booked this place because of the good reviews and although some of them are very recent, they don't really seem to be an accurate description of what you encounter there.

Buccaneers is a great lodge in an beautiful location just 40min up the coast from East London airport. The owners and staff go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and the abundance / variety of fauna and flora around the lodge is awesome. Beautiful views and a stones throw from to the beach (the property sits on an estuary right on the beach). They also serve amazing meals and Sal and her staff does an incredible job of constantly delivering the perfect home cooked style meals. There is also a small bar with a pool table on site (only open to residents) and snacks can be purchased from reception. A memorable stay and I will definitely return. Highly recommended!

Buccaneers on the Beach is a hidden gem that I highly recommend. The property is well-maintained, and its location is perfect with direct access to the lagoon and beach within a 10-minute walk. The staff is incredibly friendly, and both the dinner and breakfast were superb. Keep in mind that since the property is situated on a hill, there is some walking involved. But the bottom bar and pool area are magical, making the effort well worth it. Overall, I had a fantastic stay and will definitely return.

What a gem, amazing value for this incredible location. View from the deck is absolutely breathtaking. Great variety of surfing equipment to borrow. Evening dinners and breakfasts were delicious. Staying 5 nights and could easily stay for longer at this relaxed place. Highly recommend the Giraffe interaction at Areena resort a short drive away and the amazing horserides on the beach that you can book through reception. Amazing experiences.

Very bad road, not suitable for low vehicles. My car got damaged. No coffee etc in our room, we had to use a communial kitchen 3 o clock in the morning. Beds nice, room ok but no fan and it was wàrm.

If you want to have fun, it's the right place. If you want peace and quiet...well you could, but rather just have fun!

We loved this place, very green, close to the beach. We had a room with an ocean view, thanks to Amber. Amber from the reception was absolut lovely and supportive! Dinner was delicious; breakfast would be nice to have more vegetarian or vegan options. Super safe environment where you can relax. They have a bar, pool table, ping pong 🏓 and a pool. Small paradise ✨

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Buccaneers Lodge in Cintsa with a group of friends, and I must say, it was an experience that exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the stunning natural beauty that surrounds this charming lodge. We stayed in the 3-bedroom family self-catering accommodation, which was not only spacious and comfortable but also impressively well-equipped. Every detail seemed carefully thought out. The original artwork decorating the walls was stunning. The rooms were clean, cozy, and perfectly designed to accommodate a group without feeling crowded. During our stay there was a bit of rain but we found ourselves thoroughly entertained with a visit to Hey Clay. It was a delightful and fun activity that added a unique touch to our trip. The staff at both the lodge and Hey Clay were friendly and welcoming, making our experience even more enjoyable. The beauty of the surrounding area is something that deserves a special mention. We will definately be back!

Amazing! Didn't want to leave this place. A room with a beachview. Good facilities, all clean, good condition. Cosy bar at the property. Super friendly staff and owner. Walkable distance to the beach and village. Definitely worth a visit!

Great one night stay. We camped. Had our combo next to our tent and the fire place and kitchen well kitted out a 100m away. Friendly staff. A lovely forest walk down to the beach.

The place looked amazing online. Great barman and stunning scenery, but the units was very dated. The shower drain forced you to close the water every minute. Almost felt like a true backpacking place. And thank you for your response, I took the most expensive unit. Not the budget option

Incredibly beautiful setting with incredible views of the ocean. The staff, food and little cottages were lovely. Buccaneers also made possible one of our favorite things of the entire trip - volunteering and donating to the soup kitchen and drop-in centre in the nearby Cintsa village with an incredible Xhosa woman named Temie!

Incredible place ! Sean and the rest of the family are truly the best people. This place is a hidden gem, more friendly and welcoming than Yellowsands caravan park. Really recommend it !

This is such an incredibly special place. We have been numerous times, alone and also with our children and grandchildren. The views are spectacular. The beach is secluded and quiet, it was the perfect place for our baby grandsons first beach experience. We highly recommend this place. It caters for everyone and in peak season times there is entertainment that is loads of fun. You can get food there and they do cater for vegetarians which is a HUGE thing for me as I always end up having chips and salad as the only vegetarian option on the menu. The accommodation sis lovely, clean and very artistic and quirky. The staff are super friendly and there is loads to do in the area as well. This is really the most wonderful place to visit for any age group that loves nature

Nice room with a great view from the terrace. A big bathroom with a shower. Only downside: no block-out curtains, so it gets light early in the morning. For that I'm deducting one star.

Place is lovely, right on lagoon. Short walk to the beach. Awesome themed dinners. Just the check-out staff so unfriendly, would expect front of house to be more polite. When we were checking out, had to go looking for the lady, when she came didn't greet didn't engage about our Stay, just took payment and that's it. Like we were disturbing her.

Stand out hostel on ZA’s wild coast. Great facilities and amenities, walking distance from an amazing beach, free access to kayaks onto a lush lagoon. Staff were very accommodating in shipping some Birkenstocks that I left to an address in Joburg - thanks for your patience in returning my very beaten up Birks that I didn’t want to leave Africa without <3.

This place is literally a little piece of heaven on earth. I cannot recommend this campsite enough. Breathtaking views, short walk to the beach. Great bar, pool and facilities. You need to go here!

Chintsa is stunning. Our room was a little tired and a bit dated. Bedding and pillows stained. The place is very cool though. Good food, good bar, great value and perfect location for the beach and lots of facilities on site. Plenty of vervet monkeys roaming around. We would return but stay in the treehouse rooms instead which are newer.

Amazing staff, amazing location! Enjoy accommodation from camping to private cabins all right on the doorstep of Chintsa Beach. There's all the facilities you need to have a great holiday and plenty to do both on the property and in the local area. You can opt to have all your meals in the dining hall, have a braai, or eat out at one of the local restaurants and cafe's.

Beautiful pool side bar. The best vegan and vegetarian options. Wonderful breakfast with an amazing view. A wonderful place to go and have a lovely quiet relaxing time. If you love tropic jungle, bird life, beautiful art and looking for a peaceful getaway. This is your spot.

We camped during winter time on our east coast trip and had a great stay. Loads of space with fire/braai areas. We were one of a few people in the camp site and at no time did we feel unsafe. We were even woken up by a group of pigs/hogs that were sniffing around our tent - mild panic turned into joy while watching them trot around. The lodge and staff were very friendly.

Great for a stop over. Walked across the beach to their Deli for a pizza. Well done folks, what a great atmosphere. Will visit again. Thank you for a nice experience.

We've been staying at Buccs for 4 nights and booked a family cottage with sea view. The location is great, the views are fantastic. We are 2 adults and 3 teenage boys. We enjoyed playing table tennis and volleyball and loved the fact that the beach and the ocean was just a short walk away. The cottage (no.7), however, wasn't great at all. After traveling through the country and choosing similar accommodation and rates this unfortunately was the poorest value for money. We understand the trying times we are in but a little bit of love, attention to detail, providing standard amenities, comfortable mattresses, five chairs for five guests and not just three, a small shelf in the bathroom and some towel hooks on the wall, a proper closing bedroom door and not to mention the poor worn state of cutlery, pots and pans in the kitchen, all of this is manageable. Please take it as a hint and not a complaint, it's a feedback which can be resolved easily.
