I stayed in the newly built female dorm this time at Cocori. It was very comfortable, has a nice clean design. The beds are really comfortable with very soft blankets. The dorm has air conditioning, set to a reasonable temperature, not too cold like I have had in other beach hostel dorms. This female dorm is a really nice upgrade for cocori, it's so nice to have private showers and bathrooms just for the girls! Felt cozy and secure. The hospitality at Cocori is very high quality, all the staff are super helpful, it feels like family there. There's both a relaxed vibe at times and a party vibe if you're looking for it, also a variety of activities like paddle boarding, yoga and surf lessons. It has an incredible pool. Breakfast options are really great, I recommend adding mushrooms to the tipico plate. I'll be back.

Great food, can be more organized in the kitchen/serving area. It’s hard not to feel discriminated against when you see foreign white people being served before you. Not the first time that happens here. The first time they forgot my single order of french toast twice. We waited an hour. We asked for our money back, they refunded us and told us they’d give the order as a courtesy for waiting. We still waited 10 more minutes. Today, we came for bday breakfast with my parents. I noticed they served the white foreigners that came after us first. I asked a server if she could check our order because people who ordered after us were receiving their food first. Other peoples orders were still coming out when they finally brought us half of our order. We noticed there was another Guatemalan lady and her mother waiting for their food. We talked to them and they had the same experience we had. Everyone else, mostly foreign, were getting their food first. They ended up taking their food to go. I love coming to Cocori, but have a hard time recommending the place especially to Guatemalan friends and family.

Wow, what an amazing place to stay. It has a hostel atmosphere but feels more like a young adult resort. Huge pool at the perfect temperatura, easy access to the beach for surfing and a big restraunt for any type of meal. The owner is a really good guy and will try and help you feel as at home as you can. The private rooms are a bit pricier but definitely worth the quiet since people like to party here most nights. It might be the most comftorable place to stay in El Paredón for a backpacker.

The location on the beach and pool is nice but the communication at the reception and the bar staff is far from welcoming and not clear. Booked a shuttle and their driver forgot to pick us up while waiting for 1,5 hours. Had to take another bus. Missed breakfast because of not communicating breakfast times at check-in and so on. Also the rooms is very overpriced and showers are in construction and open to make eye contact with people passing by. Found a other spot with amazing facilities for half the money.

Overall great place. Great restaurant. They only have 1-2 surfboards - soft top, which you can rent, elsewise you need to have a lesson to use their boards. The 1-2 boards are always rented out, which can be quite annoying when you want to go out surfing.

The place is really nice and the pool is gorgeous. Direct access and view on the beach/sea was amazing. Food is good and fast. Most of the staff was very friendly. Loved the surfing classes. They have a nice yoga platform with ocean view and some gym equipment although the weights are stuck to the bar because of rush… I would have appreciated being shown the facilities upon arrival instead of having to enquire about everything but not a big deal. There is free coffee that I personally did not like and no other options. The one thing I did not appreciate is that I previously asked by email if I could pay in dollars but wasn’t told about their weird exchange policy and ended up paying 38$ more which made the overall stay overpriced imo. Would still consider coming back.

I stopped in here to eat lunch and was pleasantly surprised. First off, the pulled pork tacos are bomb - savory, sweet, juicy. Nom nom nom. Secondly, the property is quite clean and well laid out. Volunteers were all busy working. I ran into a traveler who now volunteers here, and they love it. Based upon a visual survey, this looks like a really cool place to stay.

Room: We stayed in the (quite expensive 60$ p.n.) Mosquito private room and were disappointed as some basic furniture was missing. No bedside lamp, only a big light which shines straight into your face and whose switch is not accesible from the bed. No clothes hook or anything to put your stuff. We had to put all of our stuff on the ground. The shared showers dont have hot water and they are SALTY! Service: is two-faced, depending on which of the employed volunteers you are speaking to. We had NO WIFI for 4 days, and everytime we asked they said that they „are working on it…“. I had the feeling they didn’t really care about it. Once, no water came from the shower, and the lady at the reception told me, they „dont know the reason and are working on it“. Luckily some local employee heard it from me and fixed it by just turning the water back on… I took a surf lesson and the next day I wanted to rent a beginner board. I was told that its impossible, as they dont rent the beginner boards… Food was OK, nothing special. All in all, the stay was OK, as the location is good and the hostel organized some evening activities.

Nice location direct located at the beach. But the prices are just ridiculous (24Q for one beer?!). The cocktails are also expensive. All the more so because they are well filled with ice cubes. Even the better / more expensive rooms don’t have warm water. In summary, it's a shame, because all the prerequisites are there, but in the end it's unfortunately quite a rip-off. Especially by Guatemalan standards.

Location is just in front of the ocean. So nice. Great and quiet Vibe. Nice hammocks ans amazing pool which can be used until 9pm. Have even a gym and yoga Shala. Staff at reception was not that interested and friendly, seemed bored. Wanted a tap, did not get one. Wanted a second blankiet, never got one. Wanted to regulate them the AC but never changed temperature. So they did not really care. Girls dorm: Toilette a bit smelly. Very dark room

Cocori lodge is great. I went there through a travellers tip and I don’t regret it. It’s directly at the beach so the location is awesome. The dorms are clean and you can do plenty there. Learning to surf, SUP, wakeboarding and yoga and lastly the food there is really good.

A very nice and cozy place 😀 feeling like on Malidives ! Warm and helpful staff. Clean environment, both rooms, bathroom and all the surrounding. International guests. Directly on the beach. Honestly, I haven't event expected so much. Very good kitchen ! Delicuios big portions served like in a high quality restaurant. Definitely 100% recommendation.

I stayed for 2 nights in a private room with AC no bathroom. Had a great stay. I actually changed hotels to stay here. The room was quiet and perfect for myself as a solo traveler. I loved the vibe, the pool and restaurant. As a vegan there were some good food options as well. I was a little concerned reading reviews about the staff being nice, but my experience was that everyone was friendly and helpful. So I’m gathering the staff took the prior reviews into consideration. My only suggestions would be to have more surfboard rental options aside from old foam longboards and short boards. Maybe add in some good fun boards or some epoxy ones that are better for rentals. And maybe some more vegan/vegetarian food options. The Saturday night DJ party was awesome. The rest of the time it was social but not a party which I really loved. Also the WiFi worked great across the property. Great job to the owners and staff. I’d happily stay again.

Ate at the restaurant. Our food took an hour to arrive and an item was missing, when approached about it the server (wearing a sling on his arm) was totally indifferent. Eventually we were told that the restaurant had run out of bread, so ordered pasta instead. After another 25 mins this pasta had not arrived despite the kitchen staff visibly not cooking any other meals. Once again he didn't apologise at all. Eventually he agreed to give us a refund for the item that didn't arrive, this took another 15 minutes. The refund he gave was less than the value of the item. At that point we gave up and left, all without the slightest apology or acknowledgement that he had done anything wrong. As we left we saw more bread based dishes coming out, so they had clearly not run out of bread. The guy was clearly very hungover, stoned, or both. This doesn't bother me, but the total rudeness and lack of respect does.

They charge too much for non-alcoholic drinks. People should be able to hydrate without getting price gouged. If the rooms are that basic and ugly, with bare pipes for plumbing, they can't be charging that much for basic necessities like water. This is not a luxury resort. And obviously no one wants to drink the tap water and get sick in a small town in Guatemala, away from any decent health facilities

I always come here due to the great environment. If you want to chill, meet a lot of people coming from different places of the world or you can even live there if you want to get that dream! Doing volunteer program. And the accommodation is totally good even if you get a shared room. :)

Cocori is just amazing ! I had an awesome stay there, with a nice staff, good restaurant/bar, amazing view ! If you like to surf (or learn to surf), chill, do some yoga or party, then you have to go there. I’ll be back for sure one day, cause it felt like a family! See you soon guys !

Charming. Two stars for it's beautiful pool. Kuddos to Francesco (staff) who was always friendly. The rest of the staff was mostly aloof if not downright dismissive on the verge of being rude.

Cocori is a lovely and chilled place on the beach. It is very spacious, with its own bar and restaurant, pool, yoga terrace and gardens. It is superb clean and the customer service is also very high with staff being happy to help any time. :) Everyone is extremely nice and the place has a great vacation vibe. Loved it and would 10/10 recommend it!

I didn't stay in the hostel, but I bought the surfing lesson there and it was a great choice. My instructor Efren was professional, helpful, funny and fluent in English which is not that obvious in el Paredón. I had great time and definitely would go there again. This company is one of very few places in the village that provide rash guard included in the price.

Definitely the best hostel in the area. So many areas to lounge around and the best pool. Great staff, very friendly and helpful.

This place is stunning. Right on the beach. Amazing chill beachy vibes. Gorgeous pool. Definitely the best hostel I’ve been to.

  • 4/5 Jeff L. 1 year ago on Google
Great location right on the beach. The hostel in itself is pretty, well organized and spacious. The staff is really helpful and they offer nice activities (surf lessons and mangrove tours on SUP) where the guides/instructors are very knowledgeable. The restaurant is a little less exceptional : the portions are relatively small for the price, some of the choices lack flavor and ingredients and we sometimes waited for more than 30 minutes for our food, while other people who ordered way after us got their food before us. But, their burritos and tacos are great. Also, the wifi didn't work for 2 days while we were there, which can be relaxing, but less so when you're trying to book something.

Awesome hostel with great accommodations! Stay in the Pelícano Bungalow, it’s the best room they’ve got. Love the proximity to the beach and the welcoming atmosphere of the grounds. 10/10 recommend

This is by far the nicest place to stay in El Paredon, the location is perfect. Right on the beach, with a beautiful pool area for relaxing during the day, as well as hammocks to chill in. There is a bar and restaurant with everything you need. This is a must stay !

Perfect location, great facilities but the best thing is the awesome staff and volunteers. Behind the bar and behind the reception. Everyone is so helpful, I’ve made friends for life here. Shout out to Anita (so hard working and friendly) and Mariana, Santiago and Momo (made me feel welcome from day 1). Thank you! Surf at El Paredon is right out front, very consistent beach break

One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in during the past 10 months! Book through their website for best rates (120q). Only one downside… 💚 Beautiful property with large pool 💚 Beach access and surf rental 💚 Sports bar & good restaurant 💚 Spacious dorms with super comfy beds 💚 Wakeboarding tours in the mangrove forest (250q) ❌ we had a mouse and cockroaches in the dorm, probably attracted by food. If they manage to fix this, it’s THE perfect hostel!

For anyone travelling I highly suggest staying here. The staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Beautiful spot and nothing but good vibes. Shout out to Nani and Marianna they took us wakeboarding and it was unreal! My favourite place in Guatemala so far!

Really nice location just at the beach, friendly staff and good offers for things to do. We booked surf lessons and each had a really nice teacher for our own. Food is good and sizes are normal. Would recommended!

The cocori lounge is perfect looks like a luxurious resort and just in front of the beach. Beautiful place to spend some days is just relax. The offer tours, shuttles and there are always something to do. The food is super delicious as well you don't need go out for anything here has all and is just perfect. I can't wait to come back.

Beautiful place, right at the beach with nice food and friendly staff. Just one WATCHOUT: the pool turns blonde hair green! Every light haired girl had greenish hair after they spent the day in the pool water. Has to do with the chemicals they use. Make sure to wash your hair properly every time after you use it and if it ends up green put tomato juice or ketchup on it. That saved my hair!! Enjoy!!

Beautiful spot and they know it. No introduction to the whole site, had to inquire about everything and the girl at check-in felt bothered by our arrival and just gave us a key and promptly walked us to our cabin and vanished. Feels like most of the staff isn't enjoying their time there. Usually bothered by anything other than the clients, if you're looking for friendly staff, you're at the wrong place. We arrived on friday night and most of the bar staff was drunk. If you're a smoker, it'll be fun for you. Otherwise, they pretend to read you rules at the check in, but most of theses rules are disregarded by staff and so by customers. Smoking in most public area is tolerated and at the restaurant it is common. We lost wifi signal for the better part of 2 whole days. Staff would tell you "it happens often here" and shrug off the whole situation as if it's normal for you to pay something and just flat out not have it. The room situation is alright. The dorms are quite spacious and are a huge difference from the cabins. The cabins are super crammed and aren't really closed off to the exterior. Bug netting will be what keeps you from the outside world. For the huge difference in price, you'll be better off in the dorms, which are still not cheap. Clean yourself up well after the pool, as it will most likely change your bathing suit and/or light colored hair green. All in all, I understand that it could be a great spot but since they don't have much competition, they let a lot of things slide. Food was good, though not a wide variety.

I really like Cocori. It's a great place and It's amazing how they changed within the last 1 1/2 year's. What I don't like is, every time I ordered drinks at the bar, the cashier gave me wrong change. Once he kept Q50 and I told him and he was like no, but I insisted. The next order he kept Q8 and I told him again. Always check your change at Cocori.

My friend and I are traveling Guatemala and didn’t originally plan on coming so far south but we are so glad we did! This hostel is the best in el paredon. The restaurant sells delicious food for a decent price, the pool is spacious and vibey, and the rooms are clean and well priced. Would recommend!
