Royal experience to take.. fascinating to see how Royal family live, Richness nd stunning view.. Not exactly worth the entry fee i.e. 300 But still go and experience unimaginable
Elegance class royalty and history all in all. Wonderful place to visit and know more about the incredible history of Scindias!
One of the best places to visit in Gwalior. I have visited with my family. The palace is well maintained and worth a visit Having entry fee of Rs300 /person. Locker facility is available for keeping the bags
Amazing Palace built by Italian Architect in approx 1cr in that time, which is valued approx 10 lac cr today including all its valuable artifacts ! The food train table is simply amazing bought from aboard in that time have SCINDIA , if u pick up SC compartments then the train stops, leaving INDIA. The King was fascinated by tigers, loved hunting down tigers n snakes. Have 11 foot tiger in his collection. The Master Twin Chandeliers standing tall, are the highlight of the palace. It took 8 full Grown elephants to stand on the roof to check if it can take the weight of both the Chandeliers. Rest there are many more treasures which u may explore on your own...
Interesting museum located in the palace which shows the history of the royal family. You can see many artifacts ranging from furnitures to weapons. We had a guide bring us through the museum which made it a lot easier to understand.
Great experience of seeing history of Scindhia’s , Maratha samrajya extravagant life style of maharaja’s Rani etc etc C,the amazing amount of gold used in decorating Durbal hall 510 kgs (wow). The silverware, old armoury Swiss pistols . The train made of sterling silver & the dining table with rains where it moves. The whole palace electric wiring was done much in advance even before the light came to India & the guides n guards told no one knows the wiring details but so far no fault is repaired in the system . Only they change the faulty bulbs .the family tree the furniture’s artist is gifts n artefacts from queen Victoria etc etc . The grandeur of palace is increased with the two Belgian 🇧🇪 Chandliers to make sure that palace ceiling can take the weight , the ramp of 2 km is made so that 8 elephants can walk n rest over roof of palace to ensure the weight capacity bearing of those chandeliers. The state rooms of 18th century . The royal desk of His highness Late Madhav Rao Scindhia , his fashion accessories like pen cigars lighters his club memberships etc etc . The royal dining rooms , kitchens to accommodate French & Indian cuisines were pretty impressive . It’s with the time n money we paid for the 2 plus hours at the palace .
Visit to this museum gave me a good walk through of the Scindia lineage and I had a good insight on their history. The museum is filled with antique stuff used by this family, the living room, the dining room, and the collection of guns swords where very interesting. The one which caught my undivided attention is the huge enormous party hall with a long dining table which has a train track running on top of it. The entry charges 300 rupees ticket per adult and it's it's worth the money. Also, if you are coming by cab, do not allow the cab to enter the parking area because the entry into the parking area is charged so you can. It's it's not a big difference of distance to cover by walk
The Maharaja Scindia Museum is located within Jai Vilas Palace. You can use the same ticket to enter the Museum. It has stunning views of the palace rooms and facilities of the Maratha and British nobility.
