Let me start with the good: the location is excellent, right in the heart of the Old Quarter, the breakfast is great, and the rooftop bar has great city views and happy hour deals. The staff is friendly and helpful in arranging tours, buses and transport, laundry, etc. However, in my opinion, none of these can make up for the bad: I’m usually never one to care about the cleanliness of a place but this was next level dirty. All of the towels and bed sheets were visibly stained, we honestly aren’t sure if they even cleaned the room since the last guest. Secondly, I love a good party hostel, but not when the rooftop is blaring music past 2 AM at the expense of every other guest. Many other hostels offer a nightly pub crawl to take the party elsewhere, but this hostel only offers that on Mondays and Wednesdays? Lastly, the prices are outrageous for the quality. Not only are the rooms and beds nearly double other hostels in the area, but it seems that laundry and buses etc. are also more expensive. Was really hoping for a great stay given the great reviews, but just save yourself the time and skip this one.

Worst place to book the Hostel. I booked a private room at the hostel thinking that I would still get to enjoy the hostel atmosphere. However, upon reaching the hostel, i realized that they don't have a private room at all. They have partnered with another hotel 100-200 meters away and ask you to check in there. What's worst is that.. that hotel (Hotel Skyline) is also listed as another hotel across all websites and is available for almost 1/3rd the price. Upon asking for a refund, they gave me a straight no. What's worst is that they do the same with dorms. Once they are full, they make you shift to a random hotel nearby for the same. I saw few people fighting it out with them to no avail. Rooftop bar: The bar is decent however not great Location: Location is excellent Common area: Nothing as such. As soon as you enter, the hostel smells of puke and the common area is clubbed with reception with not much of a seating except a few sofas at all. Private room: They don't have. Ruined my 2 nights in Hanoi fighting with them. Dorms: Pretty average dorms, I would much rather go with Central backpacker or mad monkey. They are much better located and have great facilities.

Hostel has a cool rooftop bar with great bar staff and decent deals, nice social atmosphere to it. Did not enjoy the rooms, felt quite cramped and had people sharing beds up to antics in my mixed dorm. I would recommend to check the bar out and maybe join the bar crawl. But you’d be better off sleeping in another place for a cheaper price. Check out is 12pm which was nice.

Booked a private room in this hostel. Was really nice for hostel standards, felt like a budget hotel room. Was on the 7th floor and turned out to be so quiet despite being in the centre of chaotic old quarter. Location is very central, beer street on your doorstep. Staff were also very lovely! Note that sometimes when booking private rooms they may put you at a nearby hotel instead if they are full, so clarify this before booking if you are looking for the social hostel experience! I also spent a night at the buffalo hostel nearby and I think that the backpackers hostel had a much better room! Would consider staying again.

Amazing location in the centre of Hanoi with a great roof top bar and nice staff. Breakfast was an open buffet with a good selection of food, we also got a free dinner on NYE which was a great addition. The rooms however did not look anything like the pictures, there was no natural light with the lockers covering the windows and bunk beds all stacked together so very little room in a 6 bed dorm. We also witnessed one of the cleaners come into the room and change one person’s bed sheets who had vacated however the thick blanket that it’s used as the duvet was not cleaned or changed and just left there so the next person will be using the same bed cover. I also witnessed bugs on my bed which could have been bed bugs… You are offered a free drink or shot to give the hostel a good review which could be one of the contributing factors as to why the hostel has such good reviews. There are other, cleaner hostels to choose from in the area so if cleanliness of your bed is a big thing for you then I would look elsewhere.

We had an amazing stay in this hostel! It's the perfect mix between party, relaxing atmosphere and city vibes :) The rooms are great, everyone has a big locker, a curtain on the bed and even a private bathroom for the room. :) We went to the rooftop bar every night, as the atmosphere is just perfect and it's super easy to meet nice people there. Btw: you dont hear the rooftop party in the rooms, so you can also go sleep ;) Breakfast is insane for the price and all the staff was very friendly to us and helped with all our questions and request. You can even do your laundry and a great free food tour with the hostel or book all kind of other tours 😍 We'll come back for sure!

excellent place, delicious breakfast, soft bed and toilet, always they clean. in the future the should add better curtains and maybe renew the doors of the toilet ( to improve privacy). I stayed in the area and The best location of hostels is here. Amazing 😍🤩 view of the Old Quarter

Rooms are super clean 🧹 Not too expensive 💸☺️ They sell water & can do your laundry (even though the laundry is a bit expensive) 🧴👕 Free breakfast also pretty good 🥞 Super central as well. Staff is great too. After the breakfast you can work in the restaurant area pretty well 💻 All in all, I can really recommend! ✅

I recently stayed at this fantastic backpacker hostel with a rooftop bar, and I can't say enough good things about it! Good location- close to the town. The 8 bed dorm is actually a 10 bed dorm and nobody told us!! Also there is only 1 toilet and 1 shower for 10 people.. The staff ia unfriendly, their english is not very good and they made us feel uncomfortable and not welcomed. The dog is cute but he pooped everywhere!!! They tried hard to sell the tour for you with most expensive price. There are lots better choice at the other hostel which is much cheaper and staff is more friendly and more professional.

Love this place! Only complaint is I wish they had a pool. BUT they have two super cute doggos who are so friendly. I helped put a diaper on one. Also so nice and easy to book the ha giang loop tour here, staff is friendly and so helpful. Rooftop bar is better than the pics shown, and there's a pool table in reception.

Hostel with great atmosphere. Beds are quite noisy and there is only one bathroom per room. However breakfast and staff makes up for what its lacking. Also great rooftop bar! Stayed there 3 times and would do it again

Arrived alone and left with lifelong friends. Could not recommend the place more. In 6 weeks of travelling I've never eaten such good breakfast. The pool table downstairs is extremely good and the well organised activities always give you something to keep you entertained. Couldn't recommend this place more and I can't wait to return!

Strongly recommend this hostel, in fact, it changed my life in ways I cannot express online. The rooms are great, small bit cramped but beds super comfy. Buffet is unreal and best of all the staff on the rooftop bar really do their best to make everyone involved and help in any way they can. As the tea is in the pot and the milk is warm this hostel does it all.

Amazing place and great atmosphere in lobby and rooftop! Dorms and it’s bathroom are clean and comfortable. Great place to stay as a solo traveller and I also booked the Ha Gian loop through here met some great people :)

Pros: BREAKFAST!!! Cute dogs and good location. Cons: Wifi in the room didn’t work 90% of the time. The bathroom was quite gross but I guess that just depends on who is in the other beds. Front desk staff weren’t friendly, but the bar staff were dope! No beer hour which is listed on hostelworld still….also happy hour is only on a few specific cocktails which I learned after I ordered two that weren’t on that hidden list behind the bar! Overall a chill place to spend a night but wouldn’t come back again after staying at another hostel in the old quarter that was cheaper and nicer!

Great hostel right in the thick of town. We had such a great few days here, the staff are ABSOLUTELY fantastic! They really couldn't do enough for us with so much help and loads of great recommendations. The rooftop bar is a good vibe with loads of space, also a great breakfast is served on the floor just below the rooftop with nice morning views. Really enjoyed our stay here and could recommend it to people who want to socialise while exploring the best that hanoi has to offer!

Absolutely cool and friendly atmosphere, awesome breakfasts, and unforgettable atmosphere! Cover sheets in some rooms are too transparent, so light can interrupting your dream. Just fix it and all will be great.

Stayed in the hostel on 3 separate occasions now and will stay whenever I come back to Hanoi !! Awesome pool table, cool rooftop bar , nice social hostel ( not party ) but they also have bar crawls some nights. Ruben was extremely helpful in any questions I had about things to do in Vietnam and travel tips in general ! Overall a solid 10/10 would stay again.

I think a lot of the hostelworld reviews are fake as mine doesnt show but lots of one sentence / fake name 10* reviews dominate. Good location but booked for curtains when in reality theyre as thin as toilet paper so pointless. No windows / air / natural light so you need big light to see / pack and one bed had the big light switch lol. No social atmosphere except rooftop bar but more expensive / no free beer offering like other hostels and its more like a bar so cant bring all travellers together. Small dogs live in reception and poo on the floor. Lots to be improved.

Backpackers was more than accommodating. I came in wanting a single room and while the main location was out, I was able to book with them at their sister location of Skyline. The rooms were very clean, and the private bathroom is clutch. Everyone at the rooftop bar is more than accommodating and super friendly. Best place to make best friends for life. When I booked my Ha Giang loop tour with backpackers I accidentally slept through my 11am bus, for no charge (despite the teasing) they rebooked me on the 7:30pm bus. I’ll be more than happy to recommend backpackers to any future travelers!

Lovely rooms all with air con, located in the heart of the old quarter of Hanoi. Plenty of restaurants, bars and things to do close by. Staff are lovely and a free breakfast takes this place up a notch on value for money

The reception was quick and efficient, the bar was fun and met a lot of cool people. Bedroom and bathroom were clean and good water pressure. Melanie is super nice and great person to talk to! Recommend! Oh, free dinner for Xmas party for all guests, I thought that was nice.

Great Hostel in the heart of Old Town. Amazing atmosphere and l met a bunch of other great travellers here on the rooftop bar and if the weather isn't so great there's a pool table on the ground floor. Also softest pillows I've ever had in a Hostel making your sleep the best in Vietnam.

Great atmosphere at the rooftop bar! They do your laundry for a small fee and have free breakfast every morning! Located in the old quarter and next to lots of bars/restaurants. Ill definitely stay here again when I come back to Hanoi.

Hanoi Backpakers hostel & rooftop bar is high above the ground, on the 9th floor from where you can see the Hanoi skyline with beautiful sunsets & glittering lights at the bar. It’s a wonderfully done ambience with music playing just at the right levels so that you can enjoy the music along with the flow of your conversations. Lovely people to attend you at the bar counter. The views, drinks & food all are just perfect, definitely worth an evening or more.

The only thing this place has going for it is the location if you want to be in the middle of all the nightlife. The rooms were cramped, the breakfast was average and the staff could not care less about you. We met a girl who arrived at 3am, who paid for a room and was turned away because the hostel gave her bed away. If you’re looking for a good hostel in the area go to Central Backpackers. They are outstanding in all aspects of service and have a much better atmosphere.

Stayed here for four nights. It is located in the center of the old quarter in Hànoi. The staff are helpful and courteous, the rooms and bathroom are clean and the AC works. The best bar in Hanoi can be found on the roof top. Amazing place. Excellent wifi. Will definitely stay here again.
