I went to Robie Street Dental in 2019 and it was determined I needed a root canal. I returned for my appointment and when I left, I was told the procedure was not done and I would need to come back for a second appointment. This information was not discussed with me ahead of time at all and I was surprised to find I needed to return. I came back for the second appointment and had the root canal completed (or so I thought). Months later, I returned to Robie Street Dental as one of my wisdom teeth was showing through and I wanted to know if I needed to have them removed. The tooth in question was about one tooth away from the one where I had the root canal done. There was no mention of it and I was told I did not need to have my wisdom teeth removed. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, the tooth that had the root canal done chips. There is now a hole in my tooth. As it has been less than two years since the procedure, I contacted Robie Street Dental to see what they can do about it. It takes about 3-4 attempts to get a response. When I finally hear back, I am told that I was only charged for a root canal and still need the filling. I was not notified of this when I left my appointment or contacted afterwards to follow up. I had no idea the procedure was STILL incomplete and I had been to the dentist since with no mention of it. I asked if it was able to be done without a fee as it was their error and I was told "you were advised and this is out of our hands." Communication was very poor (and quite rude) and the dental work was incomplete. I will not be returning to this practice and will be advising anyone I know to go elsewhere.

I originally went to RSD in 2018. They have always been amazing and honest with me. I could not recommend them enough. They are consummate professionals from the door to the chair I have had few dental offices that have matched their care and courtesy. I had some time as I moved around over the years and have happily returned to what is likely the best office in the province if not the whole maritimes. So long as I have teeth I will be entrusting them to Robie Street Dental.

Dr. Yu-Chi Kao is an exceptional dentist. I had three fillings done, and at each appointment I was impressed by how professional, speedy and capable he was. The assistance staff as well as the front office staff are also amazing, and helped to make my experience seamless and as comfortable as possible. I highly, highly recommend Robie Street Dental, especially to anyone who is a little more physically sensitive or who feels stress over getting dental work done. Hands down the best dentist I've ever had.

I have recently moved to Halifax and had this practice recommended to my wife and me. We have both found the entire staff to be welcoming and exceptionally competent. We are very happy to be having our dental needs looked after in such a friendly, caring environment.

Dr Ngan is my all time favorite dentist! I feel so comfortable with him, he always explains exactly what needs to be done and his prices are fair. He along with other staff are super friendly and all seem to be really enjoying their work. I used to dread going to the dentist, now I look forward to it!

This was by far the best dental experience I’ve ever had. The staff is incredibly caring and sensitive. The exam and cleaning were extremely thorough. They offered in depth explanations for everything that they do, and why they do it, which left me with a much greater understanding of my dental care. I left feeling that I was in good hands and not just another patient on the chair. I would recommend anyone looking for a new dentist to stop looking and book an appointment here.

While I was an undergrad student at Dalhousie in 2019, I had an unfortunate dental experience at this clinic, and I feel it's crucial to share my story to assist others in making informed decisions when selecting a dentist. During my visit in 2019, I initially went in for a routine checkup. However, the appointment took a concerning turn for several reasons. Dr. Yu-Chi Kao identified multiple cavities that needed filling, which was a stark contrast to my checkup in my hometown, Calgary just six months earlier, where no issues were detected. To make matters worse, 3/5 of the “cavities” that were filled during a later appointment posed significant problems. One of them even required a root canal, which was a painful and costly procedure. When I consulted an Endodontist about the issues, they expressed disbelief at the quality of the cavity filling done during my previous dental appointment. While I'm uncertain if this particular dentist is still practicing at this clinic, I wanted to share my experience due to the ongoing dental issues I've endured as a result of that visit. I genuinely hope improvements have been made at this clinic since then, and I felt it was necessary to shed light on these concerns as a precautionary measure for individuals seeking dental care - especially out-of-town students.
