Overall experience was not pleasant. This was recommended by my friend, so we thought to give it a try. Bartenders was fantastic, very professional and helpful all around, however, the waitress on the other side was completely different. Not only she forget to check on our table for about 35 minutes (this was us asking for the waitress twice, and she was checking on other tables in front of us), she was also very rude to us. We waited about a hour before we got our food, which is only single appetizer. Honestly, we thought this was a good restaurant but it really failed our expectation. We felt no other things other than being racial discriminated because people came after us, got they order taken before we did. Service seems to be a main failure that people has mentioned in the previous comments, so I am glad to see we are not the only one who are treated wrong. Would I recommend this place for a quick drink? Sure, it has its scenery. For food, save some time and eat before you come for drinks because you might starve for a while.

We used to LOVE the Lower Deck. Have gone for years. This time the experience was less that fun. We just wanted to sit on the patio around 3pm for a drink and they wanted to sit us in a little corner that had zero view claiming that they needed the other areas for larger parties. We informed the hostess that there were no larger parties lining up and we only intended to stay for one drink. She didn't seem to care. In fact, she could care less that she had ANY customers. We got up and left after a few minutes and as we walked away one of the waiters sarcastically said "See ya!". I never responded. I find the staff rude and obnoxious and would not recommend this place ever again. There are too many good choices in downtown Halifax to put up with this kind of service.

Very disappointed in not only the customer service from the “acting manager “ who said pretty much said to bad … the fact we ordered 8 shots and each shot glass was covered in mold abd brush aside like this was old is extremely disappointing as we Love this spot we were on a bachelorette and left due to the lack of customer service as this location!

The Lower Deck was an amazing experience! The upper level was rented out for a private function where the incredibly talented Signal Hill band played all night! There was ample space to dance, but also quiet areas to chat with friends. The staff was great at serving fresh seafood appetizers and the buffet catered to seafood lovers and seafood weary alike.

Hey, this was an amazing recommendation from my husband’s coworker! Heard there’s a live band around 9:30pm but we weren’t able to stay that long for it. The nachos are loaded and remained crispy even half an hour after serving. I appreciated that a lot! Wish we walked around this part of the harbourfront earlier!

It was my first time here, I really enjoyed it. The price of food was decent and tasty, but I wish their fries could be better. Their fish and salad were good! Love the atmosphere and the live music!!! People were really enjoyed the moment and that’s my favorite part of this bar. The only thing I was concerned was the price of beer. Beer was great, but they didn’t have menu, and price was mysterious lol after I got the bill and almost passed out lol otherwise I really enjoyed it, the artist (musician) was so gooood! Will go back again for the live music for sure!!

Great food and great ambiance. Service was slow, even with the restaurant being super empty (we were there for an early lunch). Tables were sticky and in need of a cleaning. But food was delicious.

I mean what can you say about this iconic location. We went for supper and a beer but ended up staying until last call. The band that playing that night was excellent and once the place got busy we just ended up staying. Despite the place being extremely full the staff was attentive. I would not recommend this place to anyone who gets claustrophobic as once the band starts playing it is very hard to move. We were there on a Wednesday evening and it was a busy as a Friday night. Otherwise we had a great Night and of course I highly recommend the lower deck for a true maritime experience

The Lower Deck is a fantastic spot! For just $9, you get to enjoy live music, indulge in delicious food (extra, decent prices though), and experience top-notch service. The ambiance perfectly captures the essence of East Coast culture, making it a must-visit destination. Whether you're a local or a traveler, this place offers a delightful blend of entertainment, cuisine, and atmosphere that's hard to beat.

Went for dinner and the live music. Tha band, Shipwreck, was awesome and brought the crowd to life with their cover tunes of popular songs.

Live music on a Wednesday. Beer Hall atmosphere. The lower deck was open however not the above 2 bars. Sitting is at long tables with everyone else. Pricey food no doubt if you get served when they are busy. Not enough staff to serve everyone so you will wait on drinks during the busy time. 💯 recommend the triple decker cocktail out of a can. Will be the best drink you ever have.

My friend and I went to the pub to have a drink, but ended up staying until the end of the night. They had live entertainment playing in the courtyard that night which was fantastic! The seating was unique in the sense of a high school cafeteria style, which fosters the ability to have conversations and make new friends. The food was really good and the staff are a super friendly bunch.

This hidden gem on the Halifax waterfront is the best bar in Halifax! Live music every day and night, Signal Hill is the best! The food is pub food and good. The staff are very good. It's small, and it has the old days feel of a shipyard tavern. Go, you'll see what I mean! We go every time we go to Halifax! Ohh and any age fits in here. All are welcome!

Love the Scottish Kilt themed attire. Unique and worth checking out. It's an awesome beer bar.

Only been here on Sundays in the summer. Line ups start early for the courtyard to open at 9pm. Love the alternative bar options, as sometimes the lineups are long and it helps. Its amazing how when you leave the courtyard you can hardly hear the music, impressive acoustics in an outdoor setting. Staff are amazing and super friendly, they definitely deserve a round on you

Highly recommend as a wedding venue! Brad, Larissa and the entire team were outstanding. From initial conversations to the execution on the night of- they went above and beyond to make our day perfect. The service, the food and the flexibility were all amazing. Cannot say enough about this place and the team. Thank you!

Cool venue - probably some of the worst service. Left after one pint but was looking to have dinner. Disappointing food selection.

It's a small space, but it's a lot of fun. The bartenders are cool, the vibe is authentic and the live music is amazing. :) It has a really comforting atmosphere.

Always a great time here! The staff member, Yassine, kept everyone entertained as they waited in line on a busy night, and he was incredibly kind to us and all other patrons who were making their way in!!! Definitely made the quick wait to get in worthwhile. Looking forwards to coming back soon!

Had the fish n chips and it was pretty good. Went a second time and was told it was a $9 a person charge for live music. We were just looking for a quick bite to eat, so ended up leaving. I do feel $9 cover charge is a bit much though.

Stopped in for a quick dinner and stayed half the night. The staff is friendly, the food was good and then the band started. I believe they were called Shade and they played classic rock to top 40 pop. If you closed your eyes, you would think it was the real band. It is a standard drink selection. There are no specialty drinks, beer, wine and bar shots.

I didn't stay long. Had a Corona on the patio. Waiter was a bit odd but better than rude. The service was really fast but I had to pay for each drink when I got it. Kinda odd but ok.

We had our wedding at lower deck and I really can’t say enough about the entire team. Laura and Larissa are beyond amazing. They are so well organized and basically took away all my stress. The staff were so lovely and every guest commented how great the food was. Thank you to the lower deck team for making our day absolutely perfect. Would highly recommend!!

Awesome venue for a small-medium sized wedding. We've photographed here multiple times and it's always been an absolute treat! The decor is really rustic, super into the wooden slats and dope spot for dancing. It's also right in the historic properties on the waterfront which is perfect for portraits, and super beautiful! It is a dark venue but as long as you hire photographers who know how to shoot there, you are golden. 10/10 recommend!

Great spot to visit! They have some great sea food options if that's what you're looking for. Also have bands come play most nights (at least the two nights in a row we visited - Tuesday and Wednesday night) around 9PM. Kitchen will close around 10PM. The place was packed when we visited around 10:30 PM on a Tuesday night with a band and lots of folks outside on the patio. We came back the next day for some food and hoping to try Nova Scotia's famed blueberry crumble, but they had recently taken it off the menu including other desserts. I tried "The Captain" a haddock sandwich with some nicely in-house made tartar sauce. The fries were also very good and not overly salted. Others tried the haddock cakes which were very good, and the veggie burger was fine. Food was great! Atmosphere is fun and casual especially outside facing the harbor. Tons of outdoor seating! Wasn't overly windy or chilly in mid July at the harbor. Servers were quite sparse unfortunately with one covering food for nearly half the entire patio and another covering drinks. Getting the bill took some time, but with a great view and some good music it wasn't an issue. Will also need to walk there or find parking elsewhere. Would definitely recommend checking out even if just for drinks! Too bad about the blueberry crumble, but the rest of food was excellent! If you do want some good dessert afterwards, "Cows" ice cream next door was extremely popular with a whole line nearly to the end of the dock. Sit outside and enjoy!

I was in Dartmouth for work and one of my friends back home strongly recommended this place. So I went with a colleague and had a great time. The service was fantastic and the food was very good. I had the fish and chips, fresh haddock. Delicious.

What you would expect from a bar. $8 cover to hear a live band but they didn’t start til much later. However they were worth the wait. The crowd was good and the staff never left us with an empty beer glass for long

Fish and chips weren't bad, staff is friendly and have good selection of beer. They also have fairly good entertainment as well!
