I have been there a few times, but I always think this is a very average bar. Food is okay, not many choices during the happy hour tho. Today I had a awkward experience when I visited. We were sitting next to a narrow aisle (near the entrance), and a few people just sat in the middle of the corridor and chatted for a long time. I felt very crowded and uncomfortable because they were very close to us. The server was not great, and when we asked for the menu and drinks, she just threw them on the table without any words. In addition, when she checked us after the food arrived, she directly touched my plate while I was eating. Overall, the food and atmosphere were okay, not sure if it is worth going back.

Not the best service for an afternoon lunch. I suspect they were under staffed. I'm from Alberta and ordered their award winning chowder. It took longer then expected... once it arrived, I instantly noticed that the fish was hot and the broth was cold. I had to mix it thoroughly to get a "warm" soup.... More veggies than meat. 4/10, in my opinion.

We came here on a weekend to check out some live music. The music was good. Our initial male bartender was super nice and helpful. We then switched to a table closer to the music and our female server had a bad and curt attitude with an "order, drink, finish and move on" vibe going on. We didn't stay here long as a result and would have preferred going elsewhere. But the mac and cheese was pretty good.

Reputedly, one of the most popular pubs in Halifax, especially Irish Pubs. It definitely gets busy so, expect long lineups. We were able to get in by coming a little earlier before the crowd showed up. At first, it was a quiet, nice ambiance. The staff was very attentive and, everything was going smoothly. We had an assortment of appetizers and entrees, and everything was good for pub fare. Unfortunately, as the crowd grew, things started to get hectic, louder music and people all over the place. The staff also started to become more demanding, like if you were to put your glass down for a minute they will come up to rush you into ordering more or leaving. We were a party of 5 and we were all eating and drinking so, it felt a little unnecessary.

Nice little daytime restaurant. Old school pub look and feel. Had the smoke burger. Burger and bun was on point with the Gouda. Fries were on point (real potatoes) and the service was perfect. Portion on the fries seemed to be lacking. There was not enough flavour in the provided sauce or not enough and the bacon was burnt to a crisp. Hopefully this wasn’t the intended smoky flavour.

In Halifax for Attended last night. Was very busy and waited for a few minutes before being seated at the bar. Great Friday nite vibe. Was taken care of by a older very experienced bartender. Was very attentive and our glasses never ran dry. Great selections of beer and scotches/whiskeys. Highly recommend!! Probably will be back there tonight.

Good food, good cocktails and a good vibe! This place also had live music, not sure if they have live music playing every day of the week but I had gone there on a Sunday evening. This place is good for going solo as well as hanging out with a large gang. Would love to go there again.

Great live music, super friendly staff, fun mixed drinks, and awesome food. The bread that they use for their sandwiches is tasty and so are their homemade croutons. I want to go back asap to enjoy another Caesar salad!

went there specifically for burger week and I can say they did not disappoint with the mozzanara burger. The service was fairly quick for a Friday night and the employees were welcoming. The server made some great recommendations for both food and drinks. Ordered the honey pot and spring fling. Both drinks are with gin. Both drinks were unique in their way and I recommend trying them out. Good experience!

The seafood chowder was as advertised. It was good and no fillers potato chunks. Came with Guinness bread which hit the mark and could easily have eaten more. Portion was enough for my husband and I. We also ordered dirty martini and the gold rush for cocktails. The latter with the lemon dash was refreshing. Fish and chips, I've had better ones. The Rugby world championship was playing on all TVs so it got packed come game time which added to the pub atmosphere.

Not the best presentation or value for money. The food was just thrown on the plate and the portions were small for the price (I had fish and chips). There was plenty of room to plate things more nicely. The flavour was nice and it was cooked well, just not much value for your money. The atmosphere was great and staff friendly which boosted my ranking from a 3 to 4.

Stopped by for lunch after a self guided walking tour of Halifax. Donnie and Rachel took care of us. They were great! Service was top notch. Both of them made us feel right at home. I loved their style of fish and chips. The fish was cooked to perfection and the chips were delicious! Loved their selection of local brews. The Toller was my favorite but they were all excellent.

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST! This is exactly what you would expect from a Halifax Pub! Ice cold beverages, Celtic music, delicious food, all at a very reasonable price! Their award-winning seafood chowder is worth the airfare to fly to Halifax! So unbelievably good, and loaded with fresh veggies and ingredients, and complimented with their fresh baked Guinness brown bread. AWESOME! Topped off the experience with their fresh made, sinfully good, sticky toffee pudding for dessert and we were in maritime heaven! We tipped huge! Thank you owners and staff. What a treat! :) :) :)

This place is great. Pub food but super good. The staff is so friendly. The atmosphere is lively and happy. Highly recommend! Also, the fish piece in the fish sandwich is HUGE! Could totally share it!

Pains me to say this that the place I absolutely loved over the years have lost its charm a bit. The place was expectedly busy on a Saturday evening. I ordered a clubhouse sandwich which was below my expectations. The chicken was really bland and could use bit more seasoning. The garlic mayo was barely there. The nachos were fine although they definitely used to be much better. The service was also extremely slow but I can understand that somewhat given the crowd. I used to love this place for their nachos, chicken burger etc but this experience wasn’t up to their standards unfortunately.

My friend and I went on a Sunday during happy hour, so the service wasn't the most speedy but it was still completely satisfactory. The food was delicious and felt like a perfect home cooked pub meal. Many peopel were watching the rugby game, and there were musicians sitting a few tables away from us who were playing their instruments around their table of drinks - fantastic atmosphere!

Love the atmosphere of this place. Went for a quick supper before a concert. The service is fast and friendly and although my friends' beer on tap arrived flat our server did replace it which was great. We ordered the Bangers & Mash and the Fish Burger The food was tasty although I wasn't expecting basically fish and chips on a bun.

Came here for a light dinner after a late lunch. Great atmosphere, only downside was we were sat by the entrance so we got blasted with cold air every time someone opened the door.

We went here during a holiday when not a lot of restaurants are open. We had the brunch menu, got the normal continental breakfast plate called Nelly's Breakfast, nothing special. The beef in the stew is soft, i don't like the stew so much. But the chowder was great, it lived up to the hype. Overall, i would say nothing special with the brunch menu, not a lot to choose from as well. The cocktails were great though! Prices are average in the area. Will be back, for sure!

My 1st trip to Halifax. After completing our appointment, we decided on lunch and not at the regular fast food places....an Irish pub was the decision. After all, we were celebrating a successful appointment. Checked out on GPS the best and closest place to go. So, off to Durty Nelly's Irish Pub; my daughter, young grandson, and I. Our server #344 prioncious greeted us with a warm smile and a welcome to NS. (Loved the accent) He asked if we wanted to see a child's menu. We answered, "Thank you, but it is not necessary. My grandson eats like an adult." He had the Nelly BLT with side Caesar salad. Minus the cheese. (There was no issue from the kitchen to accomodate that request) There are a couple of TV screens to watch sports, but not so loud that we can't hear ourselves chatting. Not a long wait for food, and once it did arrive, attention was made to see if we needed anything else. I had the chicken wings with BBQ sauce and side of fries. My daughter, the butter chicken curry. (She asked for chili peppers as it was not spicy enough) He also came back to check if we were enjoying the food and if everything was OK. The experience was so pleasing that when it came time to pay the bill, he deserved a 20% tip. Next time we are in Halifax, we will definitely stop in and try something else.

Other than the music being a bit too loud, a good lively atmosphere on a Sunday night. The food was standard pub fare - tasty and fresh.

The food was great atmosphere great. The only reason I rated the service a 3 is because I did try to make reservations and was told they couldn't do because of a convention in town. I advised the gentleman thats fine. As I'm waiting for a table a group off 7 come in and get seated. Asked the girl how is that possible she said they all worked at the pub I called her put out on it. You could clearly see that one person of the group of seven was a freind off one of the servers.

Shanna was absolutely stellar. Her knowledge and warm service made our night. My family came in and got some wonderful generous portions of food. We had cocktails, wine, apps, and mains. Everything was prompt and tasty. My mother and I both have severe allergies and the server knew everything that we were able to have and not have. Can't wait to be back. Apologies for the less than perfect photo of my meal, I dug in straight away!

This is a bar where a lot of people come. Security guards (?) control people's entry at the door. As expected, it's a little noisy because it's a bar. The number of server seems to be very small compared to the number of guests who entered. I have to sit at the table and wait for more than 10 minutes to order. I just had to wait because the server didn't look at me when I passed by. The food tasted good. I like nacho chip, this place is delicious. But you have to eat quickly. If the cheese on the nacho hardens, it doesn't taste good. You should eat the cheese quickly before it hardens.😆

Stopped in for drinks. Service: good, friendly staff. Recommend: scotch, reasonable prices. Warm, spacious environment for a pub. Washrooms: decent.

Good atmosphere and food. The seafood chowder was awesome. Thought the burger patty itself could use a smidge more flavour but it was still good. There was a small mistake made and they gave me fries instead of a Caesar salad but I got it afterwards.

We had an amazing server and the pub itself is very nicely furnished. Great environment! The food was even better. The chowder was amazing as expected and the lobster roll was delicious as well. What stood out was their sticky toffee pudding! It's a must try!!
