Visited over the weekend late night after this place came highly recommended. The heated patio was nice, the service in terms of seating, greeting and getting people to there table was a bit disorganized. Several groups began to pile up outside the door and just standing around in the patio section. The food was pretty good. It wasn’t bad but the descriptions and the taste were not on par. It lacked some seasoning. Props to the menu, enough selection and variety to accommodate differing palates, nice Mac n Cheese selection if you’re into that. Overall our evening was nice food was fair. Still worth a stop by if you’re in the neighborhood, they also have a rooftop patio a few steps away and the beer gardens down by the waterfront which is nice. Pictured: Jerk lobster Club ( tastes nothing of the sorts), chicken wings, baileys creme brûlée( was pasty and dry sent it back to the kitchen) Truffle Mac n Cheese

Started with the roasted Brussels sprouts, excellent. Mac and cheese was a lighter version of cheese, wasn't that cheezy, but a different creation, pizza was average and small in size with light toppings, atmosphere was good upstairs and downstairs, service was good. Comfortable ambiance.

Stopped in with work friends while visiting halifax. Great spot to relax, eat some good food and try some drinks. Great atmosphere, music is not too loud, easy to carry on a conversation. Staff was very friendly and helpful when selecting meal options. We have some dip, Mac and cheese, pizza and grill cheese. All were great!

Great environment and plate setting! Unfortunately that's where the positives end, if only the food tasted as good as it looked. We really wanted to enjoy this place as it was one of our final stops on our trip. We waited an hour for two dishes lobster benedict and a froyo french toast. Apparently they delivered our food to another table? The lobster benedict explicitly says it is a soft poached egg, ours came out hardboiled (refer to photograph); a far cry from the advertised "soft boiled." The dish was completely cold, were pretty sure it was just sitting there after it was ready to be served and there was lint on one of the eggs. The French toast was bland, the yogurt they used didn't complement the toast at all. No maple syrup accompanied the dish but that may have been by design, but it would've helped considering it tasted like plain yogurt, plain bread and dried oats. We would have expressed our disappointment to the server but an hour wait for our unsatisfactory food was enough time wasted. The lack of respect for our time was unacceptable and if you refer to my other reviews I give out positive reviews like candy.

Stopped in for brunch and to try their Signature Ceasars. We got the French Toast & Mac N Ceas. Both feature a freshly cooked / large portion garnish. Delish! We also tried the Breakfast Carbonara and Breakfast Poutine. Excellent brunch spot and I’d love to go back to sample their larger menu. Fun, pub-like atmosphere, great prices.

We came to the Stubborn Goat Gastropub for lunch a little over a month ago. The place wasn’t busy so, we just walked in and sat on the patio. We had several drinks along with food. We ordered the BEEF TARTARE, LOBSTER MAC N' CHEESE and MUSHROOM ONION BACON BURGER with GYROS POUTINE. Overall, the food was very tasty, rich and quite filling. Also, our waitress was very nice and attentive.

Stopped by the Stubborn Goat after a long day of driving and doing vacation things. Conveniently located next door to where we were staying. While it was extremely busy they found us a nice ground level table by the door - good temps on a warm July evening and atmosphere. As busy as they were the wait staff was great at taking time to explain items on their menu and helping with beer choices. Food was great and prices reasonable. Recommended.

I love the atmosphere in this spot. The food is very good, the staff are all very friendly. It gets very busy in there so you may wait a bit for your food and drinks but it's worth it. If you like a good Cesar, try their flight 👌 (delicious)

Overall an ok dinner at a moderate price, and the food was hit and miss. Atmosphere is enjoyable, and decor is definitely a tempting to be upscale. There was a mixture of families and adults for our dinner. Service was awesome, and staff were extremely accommodating and nice (especially with my nieces and nephew). The downfall for me was the food. Fish and chips were massive portions, but batter was too thick and still tasted of uncooked batter (fish ok). Lobster BLT was missing the lobster punch, but Caesar salad was delicious (though $6 additional cost vs fries). An average dinner all around, but not meeting the higher food standards I’d expect from a gastropub.

The food was great and portion sizes match quality and size of meals. We had the Bacon Mac and Cheese and Burger. Both seasoned well. They use white cheddar and an applewood as well. Will be back. . Downsides 1. Give yourself time and make a reservation. 2. Busy location so be patient waiting for your food and buy and appy.

Arrived in the middle of the lunch rush without a reservation and a party of three, we were seated within five minutes. Had our food within twenty minutes. Service was very quick and efficient. The inner venue was very rustic. Bathrooms were located downstairs which may be hard for some guests to reach. Lots of interesting local brews on tap and some signature cocktails that were fun to peruse. We had the rosemary poutine, Mac and cheese, along with the basil and fior de latte pizza. Perfect lunchtime portions, very filling. The menu is about exactly what you would expect of a gastropub. The downstairs showcased some of the awards and recognitions the venue has won also.

This was my first time ordering food from here. My husband and I tried the Queso Grande hamburger. I did a take out order. The hamburgers had a good flavor and very spicy. However, do not expect to have the same one like the photo. Meat need to be cooked more.

the service was great, waitress gave good recommendations of drinks and food. I ordered a Hard lemonade which you can choose from three different liquors and I went with the gin option. Additionally, what flavour you’d like and I went with blueberry. Recommend if your looking for something not too sweet but packs a punch. It’s also burger week in Halifax, naturally, I ordered their advertised burger for this, The Queso Grande. The flavours were there, it had a bit of heat (I love Spicy so might not be for the faint of heart), and has the melted cheese sauce on top which the waiter executed the poor at our table. My only downfall with this burger is that I wish the patty had been thicker. I felt like that could have elevated the burger since so much was going on but the meat was lost. Good experience, would go again and recommend trying it out!

The staff were great and friendly, the interior was beautifully decorated for the holiday. They had a holiday drink and food menu, which is lovely. The service was good and the food was also great. We ordered the sausage platter, three different kinds which came with sauerkraut and different mustard’s. We also got the chefs loaded fries, which had some delicious meatballs and marinara with the cheese curds. It was nice getting reacquainted with the restaurant, looking forward to my next visit.

Had an amazing time at this little pub. Muffuletta pizza was a huge success. The hubs ate the whole thing until his belly hurt because it was so good. Noticed a liqueur at the bar and the bartender invented an off the menu cocktail for us. Cool atmosphere and clean bathrooms. Too bad the wine cellar doors were locked though. 🙄lol

Became a regular when I was in Halifax for a month for work. This became my home away from hotel. Loved the staff, the ambiance, the lobster Mac-n-Cheese and the amazing wings on Wednesday. Next time I’m in Halifax this will be my first night out!
