Not Worth it! Twice I’ve eaten here since it has opened and twice I’ve been disappointed! About the only two things this place has going for it is the nice staff and the location! The food is not good at all! First time I eat here I had the Ribs (signature dish, right!) taste like they’ve spent too much time in The freezer and and you can taste the old pork fat even after cooking. Second time I eat there, I had the Grill master sandwich. The rib meat was cold like it had just come out of the fridge and the chicken (while it was deep fried) it was cold as well. Not worth it at all!

I'm going to round up my rating, where I feel like it was more than 4.5, but the experience was too good to give it a 4. I felt the main dishes were fantastic, great portions and excellent flavor. There's a good variety of options, especially for its location. The atmosphere is very cozy and intimate, great for a date night. Service was good, not great, but still enjoyable. My .5 knock would be with pricing on appetizers and desserts.. which I felt was a bit high relative to the portion. But the quality and taste was fantastic, which influenced my round up.

For all the times I stay in Halifax and this is the first time here….shame on me. I promise to be better. Had a craving for steak and I can tell you, it was satisfied tonight! From the moment I walked in and was greeted and seated, I knew it was going to be a great dinner. My server Sara was amazing. She is on top of her game. Watched her run around serving the entire bar area drinks and food and not missing a beat. Lots of happy people enjoying the food and drinks. My steak…..okay so I do steak. I make a mean steak. Well so does Anthony! I wasn’t in the mood for the 14oz Ribeye so I asked for a cut of the Prime Rib to be grilled based on a recommendation from Sara. BOOM! Was so good. My Gin and Tonic was super tasty and made the way I love it. Cucumber with Hendricks and quality tonic. Highly recommend. I’ll be back! So I was back and I met “Gen”. What a colourful addition to great meal. If you have the appetite for “Dinner and a Show” then please ask for Gen to host your meal. Ask her for the special “Gen and Tonic”.

** Update from first review . Just as great . I Went back to Baton Rouge once again , this time for a Burger week burger , the "Diner Burger" , and it was FANTASTIC ! We Started off with some Cheddar Dip , which was a large serving size for 3 of us & Bavette Beef Bites which came out on a sizzling hot plate , both apps were delicious . The burger arrived with a nice side of fries. The bacon jam gave it a hint of sweetness that made it taste perfect matched with the other basic , but tasty toppings . Sara , our waitress , was great ! She was very Friendly , service was on the ball , and she had great suggestions :) I'm Sad the cheesecake was unavailable but hope to try it next time I'm in !

Server was amazing, polite preffesional and very approachable. The ribs were amazingly tender. I was not really a fan of the BBQ sauce but they were great. The fries were cold would be my only real complaint. The club sandwich my partner had was extremely delicious. Would go ahead for sure.. mostly because of our server being so great.

A dozen of my colleagues and I had a lovely evening supper there. The beverages , food and service were all top notch! Richi was our server and he did a wonderful job with his service. I had the Calamari and the Lotus Bowl with Lobster. It was phenominal! I would 100% order it again. I order Calamari and make my own regularly at other restaurants, but this was the best I have ever had. 10 out of 10 for that dish, for sure! Every person loved their food !

Exceptional food, service, and energy. A little piece of nostalgia parked in the downtown core. Couldn't be happier with the experience. Great food, laughs and wine. Presentation, hosting and waitstaff were impeccable. Absolutely would return without reservation. Thank you for the wonderful experience and for catering to our requests :)

Honestly I don’t know what the hype is! Steaks were cooked to how we ordered and seasoned well. The cut is small and no option to make it larger with the sirloin. We literally got 2 small pieces of cauliflower, 1 small piece of broccoli, a piece of carrot and red pepper as the side of veggies…… not enough for a rabbit. The service was very minimal (almost non existent). Very over priced for normal quality food. The Keg is SO MUCH BETTER!!

Saw this location when walking and decided to give it a try. They have quite a varied menu with multiple options including non seafood related. I had them substitute some items so I could better manage my dietary restrictions and they were more than happy to accommodate that for me. The food was tasty- but the side dish of scallops and shrimp I ordered was not. It was doused in pesto and it was too strong. However the chicken dish and tomato appy we shared was definitely worth it. Large portion of chicken provided which made me happy. Service staff was very friendly and lovely to chat with. The atmosphere was pretty nice, it was upscale but also had some sea vibes. Not sure if you need a reservation to come normally but we didn’t and it went fine. Would be okay to recommend but I personally would probably try somewhere else next time since I’ve already been here.

We have been ordering here for years now, used to be one of our fav restaurants in Halifax, however we ordered from Uber Eats tonight and were hugely disappointed with one of the orders. For a price of $24 + tax, the power bowl with the Atlantic Salmon we received was a big joke. I was honestly furious when I received the food. List of ingredient says: Served with a rice base, julienned carrots, cucumber slices, roasted edamames, avocado, sriracha mayonnaise, and roasted sesame seeds. FYI see the attached picture. The Edamames were NOT roasted, the rice was mushy, roasted sesame seeds were missing and it would be great if you could specify on the order that the Salmon is served raw. The name is Power Bowl and not Poke Bowl; this is very misleading. We usually love your food but tonight we were extremely disheartened by the quality of one of the dishes we received.For a price of $24 + tax, we expected better, A LOT better.

Loved this restaurant! The ambience was nice, the food was great, and the service was good too! Just wish there was more vegetables offered as I am a veggie lover when it comes to steak and potatoes lol but that's just preference. Still an overall great restaurant, and the steak was probably the most tender I've ever had.

Service was fast and friendly! Nice decor! Appetizers and Entrees were delicious (Tempura shrimp and salmon/loaded baked potato)

I had the Baton rouge burger (without lettus and tomato) which was quite good, the pricing is appropriate, not too high or of great value. My friends had the club sandwich and sirloin steak. I was given the opportunity to taste the steak and it was cooked perfectly at medium rare with a nice taste to it, however it was missing that extra flavour to really make it perfect. This night came together rather last minute as we booked the table within two hours of our call. Thankfully, despite arriving half an hour early, we were seated relatively quickly without issue and the service was great. I would definitely re-visit in the future and perhaps try something new to further develop my opinion of this restaurant.

I want to thank you. Today I celebrated my birthday with my colleagues. All the food was very tasty, all the drinks were excellent, the service was excellent. The atmosphere is incredible. Beautiful setting in an old building, however there is a smell of old musty water but that could have been because of how humid the weather was. Otherwise it's a fantastic place to enjoy a birthday dinner with your significant other. Appetizers of crab stuffed mushrooms and calamari are recommended. We both had the strip loin steak dinners with skillet mushrooms followed by a slice of absolutely delicious carrot cake. Would definitely recommend the Compass rose wine as it's a locally sourced winery. Over all a great experience at the old historic restaurant.

The Jalapeno Melt burger at Bâton Rouge is a must-try! The burger is perfectly cooked and the combination of jalapeno and melted cheese gives it a delicious kick. Overall, Bâton Rouge is a fantastic restaurant with great food and service. Highly recommended!

I got the fish with truffle oil, I'd rate it 5/10. My gf got the steak (8oz) cooked in charcoal and she rates it 4/10. Steak and stein steak is better. Place is really nice though and food is reasonably priced for a downtown restaurant. You just have to find parking.

It was my birthday and it was acknowledged as we checked in and several times throughout the meal. Nice surprise with an amazing brownie dessert with a candle at the end of our meal. Sara was amazing. Excellent customer service a 10+. Sara thank you again for making my bday a memorable experience. Food, ambiance and venue was amazing👏. Looking forward to our next visit in the near future. We highly recommend this location for special events, date night and a night out with friends. Thank you

Table Service was good. Our drinks were very good. Took a while to get our meals and half of them were not hot. There was no presentation of the meals. For the price range presentation should be better. It was very blah looking. I had the Seafood linguine which was tasty, but for the price of it, it should have more seafood, 2 scallops and 3 shrimp. This is our third visit, but unfortunately it will be our last.

My husband & I had a great time last night & thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful meal, celebrating our 30th anniversary. The heritage stone & brick building was filled with an atmosphere rich with history & we loved the photographs displaying Halifax landmarks from a bygone era. As for dinner...well...the filet mignon was a perfect medium rare & my salmon melted in my mouth; the veggies were done just the way we like them!! Even the wine was perfectly paired to our taste. Our server, Jericoe, was the exact combination of professional & friendly that makes every diner get the most out of their dining experience & want to return! Special thanks for the lovely dessert treat he prepared & presented to us to finish off the evening...chocolate, strawberries, oranges & spiked ice cream...OMG, so good!!

Atmosphere a combo of rustic and modern - loved it. Service was excellent and food was good. I felt the spinach dip could've used more garlic.

Amazing experience Isabella made our night! It was our late christmas gathering, and I am ever so glad we chose to come to baton rouge. Many drinks were shared, and the steak and sides were amazing. Highly recommend the Ginny Hendrix if your like something fresh

I have only been to Baton Rouge twice but both times didn't disappoint, perfect place to take your significant other to for a dinner date then explore downtown Halifax, food is delicious, prepared well, staff are very on point to give you the best service,overall a great place to get your eat on 💯💯👊🏿👊🏿

Everything was delicious. The lobster poutine is massive. The server said noone has ever finished it and she wasn't wrong.

Really lovely spot to go to, the atmosphere is very chill and great vibes. Staff was friendly, and on the ball with service. Food came quick, and hot. We had the beef bites, which were very yummy, tender and lots of flavour. The spinach dip was good, very different, little bit of a tang! We both had the fried chicken, rib burger was good, very different and unique, wouldn’t be what I would get again but 100% will be getting a steak next time! Over all 4/5 star!

Best gnocchi I've ever had!! Fabulous meal and they treated my gf with a truly gorgeous cake for her birthday. Building is historic gorgeousness. Soft breeze off the ocean. This is the perfect place ❤️

It was our first time here, and the overall experience was ok. When we got there, it was super empty, but because we didn’t make the reservation so they let us wait for 10 mins. Not sure cuz they wanna make the restaurant more fancy so they set up a timer for us lol? The food was ok, the ribs and shrimp were super good, but the fries were like cheap frozen fries… I mean the dish is pricey, but they are very stingy about the quality and quantity of fries… There’s 2 tables next to us (but there were still pretty empty in the restaurant) were also complaining about this restaurant lol They even served the wrong dishes to the next table… And we also got the beer that wasn’t our order… (how do I know? Cuz it’s the 2nd round, we already got our beer for the first round) It was not a good experience… they wanna be a fancy restaurant but all the quality of food and service were not quite there.
