Haunted. If there were ever a place that I could believe is haunted it would be Henry House in Halifax. The entire structure is still in incredible condition and has many original features. Of course any place that has a bar on each of their three floors is going to be nice. The food was super and much better than just typical bar food. All the people who were working there were super friendly and attentive also. I think my favorite thing was the authentic and ancient feeling of the place.

My husband and I chose to go to Henry House for my birthday dinner to have the experience of eating dinner in a building full of history! The building was lovely and the food was pretty good! The seasonal prosciutto-wrapped scallops were the highlight. We would come here again, perhaps on a cooler day when we could try the bar upstairs since they don’t have air conditioning (based on the age of the building).

I went to Henry House for the first time just last weekend. I am so happy I went. Everything was great from the food, to the staff, to the beautiful decor. Henry House is a sweet little place to go have some food and/or drinks, with very kind staff and a lovely atmosphere. We started with some nachos, which our waitress told us would be a very nice size, cheesy portion, also some of the best nachos in Halifax & she was spot on. I have never eaten nachos with pineapple on them before but I actually liked it more than I thought I would. The portions were a great size & the prices were decent. We also ordered some calamari, which was done perfectly and the sauce that came with it was delicious. We then ordered and shared a club wrap and Caesar salad, which I had to take my portion to go, but enjoyed later that evening at home and it was just as great as the rest of the food. I ended with a slice of chocolate beer cake, I normally wouldn't order chocolate cake but the waitress again recommended it and she was again spot on that it would be as good as she said it would. It was rich and tasty. I loved it & would recommend it as well. I didn't get the waitresses name that night but she was very friendly and personable, she told us allot about the history of the house and made the food recommendations that we enjoyed very much. Our experience was great. I will definitely be returning to Henry House in the future.

Wow! This is an exceptional hidden gem. We loved the split dining areas. Basement/ main level and upstairs based on if you want louder to relaxing. Being British I ordered the Cornish pastie and to my surprise it tasted fantastic. Very well cooked to us British standards. Definitely recommend with great menu!

Henry house has a really nice atmosphere and super friendly staff. I ordered the Ultimate Burger with fries and it was ultimately delicious! However, the fries were not as crispy as I'd like. I also ordered a Negroni. It was tasty

Big portions. We were from the US on a cruise so I don't know about pricing but it seemed reasonable for the amount of food. Old building, lots of character.

Had a wonderful dinner outside on the patio at Henry House. Staff were very welcoming and service was great. We both enjoyed out meals - I loved the pear and goat cheese salad and my husband loved his cask aged beer. Highly enjoyable.

Beautiful historical building with great food and service! We ordered the poutine and the salt cod fish cakes to share. The poutine serving was a bit small for sharing but the prices were very good!

Great food, great service. Really cozy atmosphere , with the fire place. Worth a visit, especially if you like English food, just missing English draught beers.

If you like an amazing old building full of history and culture and amazing pub food including incredible fish and chips, this is the place for you! My kids recently tried the Bangers and Mash, and one had the Cornish Pastie and they said it was their favorite meal on our trip across Canada!

Relaxed atmosphere, large patio, good food options. Their calamari was delicious with just the right amount of chewiness and taste. Their buttermilk fried chicken was huge with a beautifully made challah bun and nicely fried chicken piece. Henry House is a nice restaurant to people watch on the patio at the South End with a cold drink and good food.

Nice little pub on the south side of the downtown core. Reasonable prices and tasty food. Make sure to add the green tomato chow to the fishcakes - it ties the dish together wonderfully.

What a treat. A beautiful old building, amazing waiter, great food. After a very poor dinner the day before it was exactly what we were looking for.

Nice little pub with good food. The prices are also fair. I recommend! I had the Fish N Chips which was fresh and fries crispy.

Service was very good, our waiter treated us well. The time from sit down to eating was good and the food was fantastic. Now although some suggestions recommended the fish and chips I went with the ultimate burger and wasn’t disappointed. My wife had the beef and mushroom pot pie and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Drinks were cold and restaurant was clean. Downstairs provides a very nice ol’school feel.

The atmosphere at the Henry House is unbeatable. Staff are friendly and accommodating and provide great service. We visited all three levels and either ate or had drinks. Prices are reasonable. Great place to visit while in Halifax.

Oh the Henry House ♥️ so much love for everything they do. Our last visit was spent at their christmas high tea for our anniversary. They went above and beyond. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, the food - to die for, and the customer service always leaves you feeling like you’re a part of the family. We will return time and time again.
