Absolutely delicious meals!!! And the staff was so friendly and accommodating - consistently ensuring our every need was met and then more. The breakfast poutine was mouth watering good and I will be purchasing next time in Halifax.... AND I DID!!! As just got back from halifax again ate the same as soooooooo good!!! :)

Loved this hidden breakfast spot. Reasonably priced and lots of fun options. I got the breakfast burrito which was very tasty and my friend got the big breakfast with a side pancake. Great food and welcoming friendly service.

It’s always nice to find a place that knows what they’re doing when it comes to gluten free options. I was initially a little disheartened that the French toast and pancakes cannot be made GF, but I was assured of the options that would be safe for me as a coeliac. I went for the healthy choice breakfast with beans a GF toast. It was JUST what I needed. The café was fairly busy when I arrived, and I was left waiting a little while for my order to be taken fully - but the folks who work here were lovely, offered an apology and checked up on me when they could. I’d happily come back!

Every time I come to Halifax I always make an effort to eat here. The owner and her staff do a fantastic job of taking care of you. It’s a diner that makes you feel like family.

You'll have an excellent and quick breakfast at Mary's Place. I had a lovely bfast sandwich made with a croissant and my partner had the Birmingham. All very tasty! The only black mark on an otherwise great experience is finding out that we'd been charged more for the Birmingham than was advertised on the menu (shown as $13, charged $16). I would request that Mary's update their menu to reflect actual prices. Also the restaurant itself isn't properly ventilated and is very hot, particularly the bathrooms. The space could also use some sprucing up as it has a cafeteria feel.

This humble dinner is made spectacular by tasty food with good portions and... ...the friendliest and most welcoming staff. Happy to have gone. Hope to return. P.S. Always get the garlic home fries.

We came for the vegan breakfast options. The tofu skillet was fantastic. We got gluten free bread with it which was tasty and crunchy. Since the home fries have gluten the server recommended we substitute potato Pattie’s and those were excellent too. They were similar to hash browns but not as greasy. The VLT was delicious as well. The highlight is the vegan bacon from Real Fake Meats. Possibly my favourite vegan bacon.

I'm always looking for where the locals eat... found the perfect spot for breakfast right here. Excellent food. Very reasonable prices. It's not a fancy place but the staff are fantastic and care about their customers. Highly recommended and will definitely be here again on my next trip to the city.

Good food, good service, friendly and quick, we had the eggs florentine, and the breakfast poutine, both were delicious, the one thing I would change is to ask for my poached eggs to be a bit runny.

This place is fantastic! Reasonably priced, lots of gluten free options and the service is quick! The coffee is also pretty good. It can get busy but it is worth the wait. Their home fries do have a coating on them and they are really good but I don't think they're gluten free. I do recommend the champ. Their hollandaise sauce is a bit sweeter than I like it

Discovered this place when looking for something besides hospital cafeteria food (been eating a lot of it the last couple weeks lol) by searching up places to eat near me on google maps. The restaurant was very easy to find! I was greeted the moment I walked in the door. The wait staff was super nice and friendly! The food was simple but very tasty and cooked properly. Love the seasoned home fries! And the prices weren't unreasonable for the amount of food on my plate. While I was there I watched the owner (I assume she was the owner) go above and beyond for an elderly lady who came in and they had absolutely no issues with modifying the order for the older lady to her specifications. If you're looking for a great little place with decent food and amazing staff, this is the place! I'll be back!

Stopped in with some family . 3 of us had breakfast. One had the Greek wrap. Food was very good. And ample serving.Atmosphere was fantastic. They had a bit of an issue with their pos, and our orders got misplaced. They realized this, apologized and had our meals to us in no time. The owner was out chatting with us and it felt like breakfast at home. Will definitely be making return visits while in the city.

Went for lunch with a friend today, owner and staff were lovely. The owner overheard my friend explaining how much they disliked tomatoes, specifically cutting them. We got into a brief conversation with her, and after she cleared the nearby tables she came back. She brought over a tomato, a plate, and a knife and diced it in front of us while explaining her technique to my friend. The food was very reasonably priced, and entertainment was free of charge.

Mary's Place is a great breakfast/brunch spot with classic brunch foods. The service is great - we always have funny little dialogue that makes me and my guests feel like part of the family! They have wonderful vegetarian and vegan/gluten free options. I highly recommend adding the garlic sauce to your home fries!

This place has the best eggs Benny that I’ve had in years. My niece was obsessed with their breakfast sausages. We ate here twice in two days, had to get another Benny in before heading to PEI! Definitely recommend. Staff are very friendly and food is excellent.

Wholesome food, feels like home. Very welcoming staff. The building may look old, but makes up in charm!

I love the Mom and Pop shops! Always a good home cooked meal. The eggs Benny are delish! Super friendly staff and the Owner is usually around greeting people.
