One of the best gems in the city. The fish is fresh and not dripping with grease like a lot of the other spots. Price is nice and the atmosphere is genuine. They recently started using the bagel guys pretzel buns for their fish burgers. Next level goodness 👌

Super tasty, huge portions and a really nice restaurant! This was our first stop in NS we were craving seafood and the reviews for Phil's were high and we were close so we went in. We were very happy with our order, both of us got the fish and chips cooked differently and they were both stellar! Can't wait to go back

We stumbled across this place while on vacation walking from our hotel to an ATM. The menu looked good, so we came back for dinner. My wife had fish (haddock) and chips, and I had a platter that added scallops and shrimp. Everything was cooked to perfection, so we returned again for scallops and chips, with a seafood chowder to start - even better. Prices were reasonable, and they have a good selection of local beer and ciders. Nothing fancy, just good food expertly prepared.

Phil's is THE BEST for fish and chips!! and other seafood. Large portions, light batter, not greasy, and home fries, Their seafood platter at $16 gives you 1 full haddock fillet, 3 scallops and 4 shrimp. What a deal! You can get a meal for under $10 here. So tasty and economical. Enjoy!

Delicious seafood and homey digs at this restaurant! There's a broad range of options to choose from - the seafood chowder is a very popular and delicious dish, as are the seafood plates. Service is great at this location, and the servers are always happy to suggest pairings and specials for the day. There's ample space for dining-in as well. Definitely worth eating here if you're a local or even a tourist!

My friends and I have been to this restaurant quite a few times as it was close to where we lived. The food is quite cheap if you are not looking to spend much. I have tried their fish and chips, salad, clams, and scallops. Sometimes it is really good, cooked well, and tasty. Though we all eventually stopped going because almost every time the fish was burnt or the oil it was cooked it seemed old and made the fish gross. I was sad to see the quality slip and hope eventually they can make sure their oil is changed more often and keep the food standards up. Because of the amount of times the fish was cooked in bad oil, I probably will not eat here again. If you have a car, there is a great fish and chips place in bayers lake and also some good places on argyle street that are much better.

Fantastic first impression. Not only did the food come out remarkably fast, the fish was the freshest we've tasted, the chicken was very flavorful, and both were breaded and fried perfectly. There was a nice selection of drinks, both local and mainstream, and priced very reasonably. Everything was very inexpensive for the quality of the meal.

Had lunch here on 3 January with my toddler. He very much enjoyed his fish nuggets and the seafood chowder I ate had incredible flavour. It rivaled my father's homemade chowder. The service was very friendly and the prices were entirely reasonable. I highly recommend this place.

Very good chowder, big portions, didn't expect them to be that big. Fries were not as good but still decent.

Great food and most importantly fresh. The chowder was simply delicious and fish and chips simply amazing. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend it if you are visiting Halifax.

Always fresh fish and seafood and fast, efficient service. I recommend the seafood platter with a spinach salad. My partner and I also split an order of their delicious fries. We have been going for more than 10 years and once you try Phil's you'll see why.
